As Head of Philanthropy, your role would be to lead our fund development strategy and our Philanthropy Team to the next level. We aim to achieve even more ambitious income goals by building strong and lasting relationships with high value donors.

The role

As our Senior Legal Counsel, you'll be a hands-on problem-solver and strategic advisor, ensuring our legal operations robustly support the Raspberry Pi Foundation's mission to empower young people through computing and digital making.

With at least five years of post-qualification experience, you'll navigate a diverse range of legal areas, including charity law, contracts, compliance, intellectual property, and data protection. You'll draft and negotiate agreements, safeguard our trademarks, and ensure our compliance with both UK and international regulations. But your role extends beyond legal expertise. You'll collaborate, mentor our paralegal, build relationships with external legal firms, and equip colleagues across the organisation to handle everyday legal matters.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice and support across a wide range of areas, including charity, contract, compliance, IP, and data protection law.
• Draft, negotiate, and manage various commercial contracts (e.g., services, supplier, license, grant, partnership, sponsorship, lease agreements).
• Manage aspects of IP and trademark protection and enforcement.
• Act as Company Secretary for group entities, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, statutory requirements, and regulations.
• Corporate and charitable governance and reporting.
• Proactively identify and mitigate legal risks across all areas of the Foundation's operations.
• Oversee the development and implementation of resources, guidance and training to empower business managers to handle low-risk legal matters.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with external legal firms, ensuring efficient and cost-effective utilisation of their expertise.
• Coach, develop, and manage the performance of the Paralegal, enabling them to reach their full potential.
• Keep up to date with developments in relevant areas of legislation and compliance.
• Manage the Legal budget.

Experience and personal attributes

The position

To support the Financial Controller in running efficient and effective financial processing, financial controls, financial reporting and monitoring on all AKF (UK) income. To maintain a close working relationship with other AKF (UK) employees and provide cover for the Finance Officer (Expenditure).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND CORE TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

Financial processing

• Process donations received directly into AKF (UK)’s bank accounts into Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft Dynamics promptly and accurately.
• Process donations received through the AKF (UK) website into Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft Dynamics promptly and accurately, including ad hoc and standing order donations.
• Process donations received from online fundraising websites into Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft Dynamics promptly and accurately.
• Process monthly donations from Jamatkhanas into Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft Dynamics promptly and accurately.
• Process all non-donation related income received into Microsoft Dynamics promptly and accurately.
• Manage receipts of legacy income, ensuring full documentation and prompt transfer to AKF Geneva.
• Ensure all cheques and cash received are banked promptly.
• Ensure funds received for other AKDN agencies are transferred on a quarterly basis.
• Post all supplier invoices and supplier payments relating to Victoria Hall into Microsoft Dynamics.
• Prepare periodic statements relating to fundraising campaigns and share these with relevant individual donors.
• To provide cover for the following tasks owned by the Finance Officer (Expenditure).
• Ensure supplier invoices are authorised by the relevant budget holder and entered into Microsoft Dynamics promptly and accurately.
• Prepare payments on online banking system and ensure payment paperwork is sent to the bank signatories in good time.
• Process all bank payments, interest payments, deposit movements and bank charges into Microsoft Dynamics.

Financial administration

• Manage the donations inbox and liaise with donors and prospective donors to provide information and respond to queries.
• Ensure Raiser’s Edge is up to date with key donor information and standing data.
• Prepare and send letters to donors to acknowledge donations received, on a timely basis.
• Inform the AKF (UK) National Committee Chairman of all donations greater than £10k.
• Ensure AKF (UK) Gift Aid declaration forms are up to date and in line with current legislation.
• Prepare and submit the online Gift Aid claims on a quarterly basis.
• Provide assistance with the annual audit and the preparation of the statutory accounts.

• Complete the reconciliation of Raiser’s Edge to Microsoft Dynamics and to the bank on a monthly basis.
• Complete bank reconciliations on a monthly basis.
• Complete the reconciliation of all funds received for other AKDN agencies on a monthly basis.
• Complete other balance sheet reconciliations as required by the Financial Controller.

Income reporting

• Produce monthly reports for AKF Geneva on Golden Jubilee and Diamond Jubilee donations.
• Produce monthly reports for other AKDN agencies on donations designated to them by AKF (UK).
• Produce other ad-hoc reports on income as requested by the Financial Controller.

Qualifications

• CCAB qualified accountant (desirable).

Experience

• Minimum of three years hands-on experience in financial accounting.
• Advanced experience using Excel and integrated multi-ledger accounting systems.
• Experience working in a multi-currency environment (desirable).
• Experience of charity accounting and knowledge of such requirements.
• Experience working as part of a small hands-on team.
• Experience of filing Gift Aid claims.

Skills

• Good interpersonal, customer care and liaison skills with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Strong numerate skills with acute attention to detail.
• Fluent in oral and written English.
• Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.

About the role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

· Strategic development, budgeting and annual forecasting of all donor recruitment, retention and donor development, including making investment cases for long-term growth in Ireland, and Northern Ireland.

The Bike Project (TBP) is looking for a Marketing Executive to join the Fundraising & Marketing Team.  This role will focus on delivering marketing activity to help drive fundraising donations, increase income through retail sales, and boost engagement with our audiences. 

This is a key growth area for TBP, and the post holder will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital marketing across a range of channels, including social media, email, search, and advertising. We are always exploring new avenues for obtaining fundraising income, and this role will work closely with the Marketing Manager to execute marketing campaigns that achieve this goal. The Bike Project has an entrepreneurial culture stemming from our online and physical bike shop, which raises considerable income annually. This post will contribute to encouraging sales through targeted marketing activities. At a key development time in the Marketing function of our organization, it’s an exciting period where we are exploring new opportunities for driving fundraising, income, and engagement. • BA level design qualification or equivalent experience (c. 4 years) of delivering hands-on design across print and digital channels in line with brand guidelines

• Experience of Adobe CC software packages, particularly fluent in: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, experience of Canva and After Effects is desirable

Full Fact, the independent fact checking charity, is seeking a fundraising professional to grow their impact and safeguard their independence by raising funds from charitable trusts and high net worth individuals.

Full Fact is a team of independent fact checkers and campaigners who find, expose and counter the harm it does – a team which has seen firsthand how bad information promotes hate, damages people’s health and hurts democracy. Full Fact fights for the right information to reach the people who need it most, whether that’s individuals making decisions about their health or who to vote for; or politicians debating the future of our country.

The Philanthropy Officer will create and manage their own portfolio of existing and potential philanthropy donors and use relationship building skills to create strong links with both new and existing donors, including delivering high quality stewardship and reporting on Full Fact’s successes. The post-holder will create and update detailed and persuasive cases for support for new and existing Full Fact projects and deliver successful events that align with Full Fact’s mission and increase engagement. The role will also involve forecasting potential income from the portfolio, prepare updates for the Board and setting and meeting effective objectives and key results for Full Fact’s fundraising.

The ideal candidate for this role will have two years of fundraising experience, preferably in trusts and/or major donor fundraising. You will have experience of writing compelling fundraising appeals and inspiring reports, and of designing and managing engagement events, as well as possessing a good understanding of working with philanthropists and charitable trusts. Your persuasive communication skills will be combined with the ability to build internal and external relationships with integrity and empathy and you will have an organised and proactive approach to work.
