Harris Hill is recruiting for a Head of Finance for this Arts Charity based in London (Hybrid)

About this role

• The Head of Finance is a newly created post, following a period of review within Finance and operations.
• You will manage Finance whilst delivering effective IT systems and HR, with the support of external specialists.

Main responsibilities:

• To oversee all areas of financial planning, budgeting and forecasting to ensure optimal use of resources and achievement of key strategic and financial objectives.
• To provide financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and mitigate risks.
• To collaborate with other departments to guide financial operations, evaluate investments, manage HR, and comply with legal and statutory regulation and compliance.
• To deliver an effective IT infrastructure, working with consultants.

Financial management:

• Lead strategic and business planning initiatives, including the annual budget programme, and assist in funding applications with input across the management teams.
• Be responsible for all business, financial and governance aspects, including tax and audit, risk management and legal, with the aid of external professional support where required.
• Act as Company Secretary for the Charity and its commercial businesses.
• Manage the internal and external audit process.

Financial procedures, oversight, and reporting:

• ? Manage financial operations in line with charity accounting procedures and SORP regulations.
• ? Maintain a 3-5-year business plan.

Ideal experience:

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
• Ability to contribute to strategic planning and align financial objectives with organisational goals.

I am excited to be working with a fantastic conservation charity in search of a Finance Assistant for around two months. This is a part-time (2 days a week), London based role for two months. As Finance Assistant your role will be to assist the team with processing grants payments, invoicing and reconciliations.

Main duties:

• Processing grant payments via online banking in line with authorisation limits.

• Inputting and updating all incoming and outgoing transactions on QuickBooks.

• Saving payment confirmations on the server and on Quickbooks.

• Electronic filing of accounts and finance invoices, receipts, credits.

• Weekly and monthly bank reconciliations. 

• Administrative support for audit.

• Administration of company credit cards. 

• Ad hoc administration duties to support charity and CEO.

Experience Required

• MS Excel, Outlook and QuickBooks.

I am excited to be working with an amazing London based disability charity in search of a Project Accountant on a 6-month FTC. You will be responsible for assisting the Financial Controller with the management and administration of the organisation’s finances.

You will manage a number of business-related and operational systems, processes, procedures and required controls across the organisations group of charities in the delivery of the charity’s services. You will play a key role in the Finance team and will work closely with departmental budget holders and other stakeholders in the organisation, performing a variety of finance tasks from bank reconciliations through to assisting with month end and year end processes and annual audits.

Main duties:

• To assist in the production of the monthly management accounts for the group.

• To process repayments, accruals, intercompany and other relevant month end journals.

• To reconcile Donation income

• To maintain the fixed assets register.

• To prepare Foundation bank reconciliation.

• To assist with the preparation of the annual accounts and liaising with auditors.

• To support the annual budgets cycle in liaison with managers and other budget holders..

• To assist with cash flow forecasting and monitoring.

• To assist with processing & reconciliation of online book sales and VAT returns for the group.

• To manage the organisation mobile phones contract.

• To assist with preparation of accounting records and supporting schedules for audit.

• To manage the Sales Ledgers and credit control function.

• To manage the Purchase Ledger.

• To provide financial information and advice to all staff.

Location: This role is a blend of working 3 days a week from our Loughborough office on the Loughborough University campus and working from home. 

Salary: £75,000 - £90,000 per annum.

Responsibilities within this role:

• Provide oversight of the charity’s finance function through line management of the Finance & Governance Director and ensure our finance processes and systems integrate effectively with other business systems:

• Working with the Finance and Governance Director, lead on the development and implementation of wider financial strategies to guide the long-term financial sustainability of the organisation, providing advice and guidance to the CEO, and the Board.

• Anticipate the Charity’s resource needs as it continues to develop and consolidate, plan and implement the necessary changes in liaison with the Executive team.

• Work with the CEO and Finance and Governance Director, to ensure effective financial management and planning including the development of key performance indicators.

• Work with the Finance and Governance Director, to provide financial advice and support to YST’s trading subsidiary (YSTE) to ensure it is effectively utilised and managed.

• Oversee business planning across multiple income streams, allocating resources effectively and efficiently.

• Provide oversight of the HR and people development function through line management of the Assistant Director, HR:

• Work with the Assistant Director, HR, to lead the development and implementation of the organisation’s people strategy, including equity, diversity and inclusion, culture, talent development and management.

• Ensure YST has the best organisational design and appropriate resources to live out our values and behaviours, develop and support high performing teams and deliver on our mission.

• Support, develop and provide line management to, the Head of Implementation and the Business Performance Manager ensuring they and their teams provide excellent internal and external customer service.

• Drive excellence in the performance of all reports, building knowledge of their specialist areas and ensuring they are able to excel.

• Provide coaching and mentoring to direct reports contributing to a high-performance culture and values-led, mission driven team.

Qualifications

• An appropriate financial qualification (ACA) or strong financial acumen.

• Other relevant professional qualifications to the role.

Experience

• Extensive proven operational leadership experience.

• Experience of leading the development of digital and business systems which have improved business performance.

• Experience of working as a member of a senior leadership team.

• Experience of successfully managing a multi-functional team within an organisation of comparable size and complexity.

• Strong governance experience of working within highly regulated environments and establishing regulatory frameworks.

• Experience in communication, influencing and advocacy both internally up to board level and with external stakeholders or partners.

• Experience of leading and delivering business change.

• Experience of successfully leading and inspiring a high performing team.

• A previous track record of understanding the latest trends and technologies.
