About the role:
This role will take the lead in seeking out new opportunities for growth across our membership, including acquisition and retention and will be responsible for developing and implementing new initiatives to reach ambitious targets, as well as ensuring our existing members receive an excellent level of customer service.
Strong communication, engagement and interpersonal skills will be pivotal to this role as will the ability to interact, engage and influence senior stakeholders at all levels. Key areas of responsibility include:
- Conduct research to identify and understand potential new member organisations in the tea supply chain.

About you:

Role Overview
The successful candidate will be involved in leading and co-ordinating the delivery of Crohn’s & Colitis UK’s research strategy including our programme of grants, and our work to support increased patient and public involvement in research. They will work with the Director of Services & Evidence and Head of Evidence & Research to support the charity’s involvement with external research bodies and contribute to the leadership, planning and delivery of cross-team projects, helping to influence and meet our strategic objectives.
About You
We are looking for someone who has proven experience of delivering successful research funding and patient and public involvement research activities. The successful candidate must be adept at establishing and maintaining effective relationships with external stakeholders and comfortable working with operational performance metrics, and implementing strategies and objectives for the organisation. Ideally your background will be in health care or working in a medical charity and you’ll be educated to degree level or equivalent. Given this role will involve managing and providing leadership to the Research team, prior management experience would be an advantage. Our Location
We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. In this role, there is plenty of scope for working from home, although there will be times when you will need to travel to events/conferences. You will be required to attend two Directorate days each year and occasional face-to-face meetings with your team or our partner agencies. The Finance Assistant will play a key role in supporting KCLSU's finance operations, maintaining strong financial controls, and ensuring accurate financial reporting across the organisation.
Main Tasks
- Process and reconcile purchase invoices, sales invoices, and supplier payments, maintaining accurate ledgers.
- Reconcile daily income from multiple systems to banking records and update the finance system accordingly.

Purpose of the job
We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Manager to lead and deliver strategic communications across all key external audiences. This role is central to driving awareness of the impact of UK Youth’s work, amplifying the voice of young people, and advocating for urgent action to support youth work and organisations across the UK. About the role

Although we work remotely with a team that is spread nationwide, this role does require someone based in or close to London in order to deliver our Westminster programme of activities.
We work flexibly and it won’t come as a surprise to you that we understand the challenge of caring commitments. We trust you to manage your time, but we do expect that most of your hours are worked during standard office hours so that we can collaborate as a team and engage with our coalition partners. Our core working day is a Thursday. As a fully remote team this helps us to stay in touch and connect.

The Europe Regional Finance program has evolved out of our Financial Regulation and Policy Program that began in 2019 with a narrow focus on European central banks. This role plays a vital part in helping Winston’s Wish turn up the dial across our Individual Giving Fundraising. The Individual Giving Manager is responsible for creating, developing and delivering a fundraising plan to grow existing and new support for Winston’s Wish across our online and offline channels. This includes Direct Mails, Regular Giving, our Lottery, Legacies and In Memory giving income streams.
As the driving force behind our individual giving activity, you will help us to engage individuals across the country by bringing them closer to our work, encouraging them to stay longer, give more and become true ambassadors for our vital work with grieving children, young people and families. We’re looking for a highly creative individual who can help us to stay one-step ahead of the curve and excite new and existing audiences to get behind our vision of a society in which every child can get the help they need when someone close to them has died.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
- Lead on the development and implementation of our Individual Giving strategy, supported by the Head of Mass Participation and the Director of Fundraising & Marketing.
- Ensure all opportunities and future plans are in line with Winston’s Wish’s over-arching fundraising strategy to meet financial targets, organisational objectives and KPIs.
- Maintain an awareness of philanthropy trends, news, events and legislation in the UK to ensure that Winston’s Wish remains up to date on key changes which are likely to impact on individual giving.
Generating Individual Giving Income
- Lead on and deliver a plan to increase individual giving income from streams including, but not exclusive to, direct mail, regular giving, legacies, in-mem and our charity lottery
- Effective use of KPIs to ensure decisions are driven by evidence and real-time data.
- Continuously analyse our income and supporter data to measure effectiveness of activities and return on investment.
- Work alongside our design agencies and in-house marketing team to develop and manage direct mail campaigns, including segmentation to ensure campaigns will be carefully targeted and designed to maximise income.
- Explore and test new methods for donor recruitment and increasing donations.
- Seek every opportunity to increase awareness of legacy giving to Winston’s Wish and monitor the effectiveness of these activities over time.
- Manage a growing portfolio of legacy enquirers with appropriate contact and timely solicitation of prospective legators including hosting events and tailored stewardship.
- Manage the stewardship and development of our regular giving programme including uplift campaigns and solicitation of new donors to agreed targets.
- Work alongside the wider fundraising team to ensure effective cross-selling of individual giving products and vice-versa identify opportunities to introduce other fundraising products to our individual givers.
- Identify supporters who could provide compelling content which could be used by the wider Fundraising & Marketing team to inspire further support including suggesting key individuals who could feature in online and offline publications.
- Work with the Philanthropy & Partnerships Manager to ensure that potential major donors are identified and included in relevant activities.
Administration
- Diligently maintain records of all interactions with supporters on Salesforce.
- Ensure all activities comply with appropriate legal, regulatory and fundraising good practice and with Winston’s Wish policies and standards.
- Keep a close eye on incoming donations to ensure they are coded correctly and that supporter data is accurately recorded in accordance with GDPR.
- Effective management and control of expenditure across all projects and campaigns in line with agreed expenditure budgets.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
- A sound understanding of the principles of fundraising across individual giving, in-memory fundraising, and legacies.
- Proven track record of preparing successful programmes of activity and business plans to recruit, engage, inspire, and retain supporters in a not-for-profit organisation, or similar transferable experience gained in the commercial sector.
- Specific experience of delivering an individual giving programme.
- Experience of budgets, including planning, forecasting, and analysing performance.
- Experience of high-level use of a customer relationship management system.
- Experience of managing direct mail campaigns.
- Strong organisational skills and keen attention to detail to plan and schedule multiple activities, respond flexibly to opportunities, handle conflicting demands and meet tight deadlines.
Desirable
- Understanding of childhood bereavement.
- Experience of using Salesforce CRM.

People facing decades of prison time often completely lose connection with their family and friends on the outside. Depending on the prison, there may be limited access to rehabilitative programmes and educational courses until later in the sentence. It can be hard to maintain hope, and direction, or create meaningful plans for the future.
People leaving prison after 10 years will have different needs to those leaving after 10 months. The world has changed – there are different habits and new social norms. The Hardman Trust is at an exciting point in its development as it celebrates the arrival of its new team, the realisation of its first ever organisational strategy and looks forward to the next phase of its journey.
Our successful multi-year applications to the Lottery (Reaching Communities), City Bridge Trust and Bromley Trust means we will continue to be part-funded by them until 2027. Deeply rooted in the criminal justice sector, we plan to develop further our programme of support for those on long sentences both within and, we hope, beyond prison too; we aim to extend the reach and deepen the impact of our support and grants; and attract new partnerships with funders and like-minded third sector organisations. Last year we completed a merger with another charity which has expanded our reach and capacity.

You will bring the following skills and experience to the role:
- Demonstrable senior leadership and management experience
- Proven experience of strategic planning, financial and human resources management
- Experience of managing organisational budgets and maximising resources
- Understanding of funding applications as well as knowledge and experience of generating funds from a variety of sources
- Experience of troubleshooting, decision making and resolving problems creatively
- Understanding the prison environment and its challenges.
- Understanding and practical knowledge of the funding landscape in the UK
- Demonstrable business experience and financial acumen
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and networking skills
