About the opportunity 

Working closely with the Fundraising Manager and Head of Philanthropy, you will support a range of fundraising activities, most predominantly researching new avenues for funding within trusts, foundations and corporate partners, completing grant applications, carrying out communications and reporting to existing funders and raising the profile of the charity through representing Action Tutoring at funder or networking events. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in the world of fundraising activities, working with a passionate, committed and driven team.

The Role

The HR Manager will operate across the full range of HR generalist functions spanning the staff hire to retire cycle, supporting members of the team who lead specialisms within this (such as recruitment, onboarding, reward and learning and development) to ensure seamless service design and delivery. What the job involves

Our Events and Community Fundraising team raises funds for Prostate Cancer UK through a programme of owned products, activities and events, in addition to third-party challenges. Alongside our two owned events, March for Men and the Grand Depart Classic, we also recruit teams in events such as the TCS London Marathon, Great North Run and the London Landmarks Half Marathon.

In this role, you’ll project manage a number of third-party events which take place across the UK, including our teams at the London Landmarks Half Marathon and the Royal Parks Half Marathon. You’ll also be tasked with identifying new opportunities across the UK in the charity events market.

Your responsibilities will span the full event cycle; from setting budgets and developing marketing plans, to building supporter communications, managing event logistics, providing on-the-day support, and overseeing remittance and thanking — ensuring we maximise income and deliver exceptional supporter experiences.

Alongside this, you’ll work with other teams within Prostate Cancer UK to support the full calendar of events and take the lead with supporting our volunteers at our events. About the Role
 
As Specialist Applications Casework Manager, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the evaluation of specialist surgical applications for the GMC register. Working closely with subject matter experts and the Head of Specialist Applications, you’ll manage a fast-paced caseload, ensure deadlines are met, and help maintain the highest standards in specialist registration. You’ll also assist with appeals, produce clear guidance, and contribute to ongoing process improvements.

Key Responsibilities
 

• Manage specialist applications, supporting evaluators and the assessment process
• Circulate applications, minute meetings, draft correspondence, and organise virtual evaluation meetings
• Provide guidance on regulations and legislation for specialist registration
• Draft and update guidance and training materials for assessment panels and applicants
• Track application progress and ensure contractual deadlines are met
• Maintain accurate records and databases
• Support and deputise for the Head of Specialist Applications, including appeals preparation
• Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders, sometimes deputising as needed
• Contribute to process reviews and regular reporting

 
Skills / Experience Required
 
Essential:
 

• Degree-level education or equivalent experience
• Experience managing a busy workload and using databases/IT systems
• Excellent written English, including report writing
• Ability to synthesise and present complex information clearly
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
• Confident user of Microsoft 365

 
Desirable:
 

• Background in health regulation (e.g., GMC or similar)
• Caseworking or accreditation experience
• Experience in healthcare, education, or training organisations
• Experience with appeals or committee work

This role will be crucial in securing funding for groundbreaking initiatives so that we can save a patient tomorrow that we might not be able to save today. 

As our Philanthropy (Trusts) Officer, you will manage and develop a specific portfolio of trust, foundations and city livery companies, securing donations up to £20,000. You will be responsible for growing a robust pipeline, building relationships and preparing compelling communications for a range of impactful projects.

You will also support the Philanthropy Manager and Deputy Head of Philanthropy by taking ownership of team-specific administration processes and providing ‘secondary canvasser’ support for the team which includes creating templates, updates and proposals, refreshing research and setting up supporter visits and meetings.
