Whitley Fund for Nature
Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN) is a UK-registered charity (1081455) offering funding (Awards), training and media profile to inspiring leaders of wildlife conservation projects across the Global South. We support pragmatic, sustainable, and long-lasting work rooted in science and community involvement. The charity funds projects directly and we remain in regular contact with Award winners (grantees). WFN also raises awareness of the serious problems facing wildlife, landscapes, climate, and people, through promoting the work of winners. We focus support on nationals (leaders who were either born in the country where they work or have gained nationality) and aim to help build the capacity of successful local NGOs and grassroots work. We fund mainly in Africa, Asia, and Latin America where income is often hardest to access and can have the biggest impact for people and biodiversity. Our funding is raised each year, mainly from family foundations and trusts, as well as from individuals, corporates, and international NGOs, with a current annual income of £2.6m/year. WFN is governed by a committed trustee board. Our team is dynamic, passionate about our mission and ambitious. The charity benefits from high profile support from Patron, HRH The Princess Royal, and Ambassadors Sir David Attenborough, Kate Humble, Tom Heap, and Alastair Fothergill. The opportunity
“Saving our planet is now a communications challenge. We know what to do, we just need the will” Sir David Attenborough. WFN is a fundraising and grant-giving nature conservation charity. Established in 1993, we have channelled £23 million to 220 conservation leaders in 80 countries across the Global South, benefitting wildlife, landscapes, and people. We are now seeking to expand the team in line with our activities by recruiting a Communications Assistant to maintain and grow the organisation’s online communications across digital and social media platforms and support the team with office administration and event organisation. The post-holder should be keen to make a difference by working in a small team across an impactful organisation. They should have demonstratable skills in online communications and audience engagement, knowledge of wildlife conservation issues, experience with event organisation and the ability to support a vibrant team to flourish. The Communications Assistant will report to The Head of Communications with matrix management to the Operations Manager, dividing their time by working on communications 3 days p/w and office administration and charity events 2 days p/w. Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, you’ll also maintain strong relationships with our key stakeholders in the business.

Bookmark began life just over five years ago with a clear mission; they want every child to read. Currently more than one in four children are leaving primary school unable to read well. These children are more likely to drop out of school, experience unemployment, poverty, and poor mental health. About the role

As the Senior Philanthropy Lead at Bookmark, you will work with the Head of Fundraising to manage and grow our philanthropy portfolio within the wider strategy. You will lead a team of three to deliver on the fundraising strategy, line managing both the Philanthropy Manager and Senior Fundraising Executive. Your role will involve proactively researching and identifying new potential Bookmark major donors and working with trustees, staff, and the Partnerships Board to build a robust pipeline of supporters and secure introductions.

You will own and build a portfolio of new major donors through the full donor cycle who give £25,000 or more, ensuring a first-class cultivation and stewardship journey. You will create compelling, relevant, and tailored funding proposals, reports, and collateral to inspire and inform donors, reflecting Bookmark's strong brand. In addition, you will work closely with the Corporate Partnerships team to ensure opportunities to maximize income for the fundraising team. You will devise and deliver annual plans, together with associated budgets, in line with the charity's strategic objectives. You will use Salesforce to manage the accurate recording and forecasting of major donor income, enabling efficient reporting and KPI management.

About you

To be successful in this role, you must have a successful track record in high-value fundraising and acquisition, including a proven track record of securing five or six-figure gifts to meet or exceed targets. You must have experience line managing individuals, nurturing their development, and managing their performance to achieve results. Ideally, you will have experience developing and managing a calendar of successful charity events that meet fundraising targets and managing or working with a fundraising board or high-value committee. You should have the skills to influence, motivate and persuade people to donate and experience writing successful, inspiring, emotive, and technically accurate cases for support and proposals tailored to a major donor audience.

You should be experienced in growing and managing a pipeline, planning for your portfolio, and increasing income.

What we’re looking for:

• Someone to develop and manage a portfolio of trusts, foundations and grant makers with the capacity to give 5 and 6 figure grants to fund our work across the UK.
• Someone who can research and write compelling and creative applications for a range of projects, such as our support services in units/wards based in hospitals across the UK.
• Someone who has experience in developing and implementing effective stewardship plans to build strong and long-term high value relationships.
• Someone who can work collaboratively with multiple teams to ensure efficient and effective information gathering to write insightful impact reports for funders.

We're looking for a kind, compassionate and resilient Contract Manager to join our Homelessness & complex needs service in Kensington & Chelsea.

Contract Managers are responsible for the effective management of all contracts within their designated patch, including line managing the relevant front line staff. Leadership and competence development in direct reports is a key responsibility of the role. Post-holders may also carry client group specialism responsibilities, linking in with other Managers and Head of Operations to ensure focussed integration of specialisms across the whole organisation.

9 - 5 Monday to Friday occasional weekend work due to service needs.

This Role will be fixed term for 6 months and possible extension.

What you'll do:

Drive business planning activities within your contract, ensuring relevant and challenging objective setting and ongoing performance tracking, developing turn around action plans as may be necessary
Using sound financial and accounting principles, manage contract budgets to deliver on corporate and local contract financial targets
Successfully lead and motivate your team to ensure the championing of and maintenance of a positive local culture within your service
Work to continuously improve staff competence, ensure ownership of all staff issues and speedy and effective conflict resolution
Responsible for reporting all staff changes to HR and Payroll departments, as appropriate e.g. starters, leavers, additional hours etc.
Responsible for maintaining quarterly staff succession plans
Deliver effective, professional and commercially focused briefings and supervision meetings with staff and ensure that information, reporting & communications flow up/down is effective
Responsible for managing and allocating customers to support staff (casework management)
Develop key business relationships with all relevant customers/external parties to ensure service delivery excellence and maximise new business opportunities in own patch
