WCRF International leads and unites a global network of cancer prevention charities based in Europe and the Americas, providing the science, policy, and strategic direction that guides their work to prevent cancer worldwide.

We are recruiting a Senior Policy Research Manager to lead WCRF’s flagship policy tools, including NOURISHING, MOVING and the Blueprint for Cancer Prevention. You will translate the latest science into actionable policy recommendations, deliver high-quality research projects, and represent WCRF externally to maximise our national and international impact.

We are looking for a candidate with strong policy research expertise, experience in evidence-based advocacy, and the ability to turn complex science into clear policy solutions. You will bring an innovative approach, including exploring new methods such as AI, and be skilled at working across teams and with external stakeholders.

You will have a proven track record in managing policy tools or research projects, building collaborations and engaging senior decision-makers. Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder skills are essential to support WCRF’s strategy and enhance the influence of the Policy & Public Affairs team.

Finance Director

Position: Finance Director
Location: Contractually based from one of our offices with flexibility to work from home, subject to business requirements and line manager approval.

The Role

The Finance Director will be both a hands-on and strategic role, working to ensure that the charity is making the greatest possible use of the resources available to it. You will lead the finance team (currently 2 FTEs) and work on financial planning, management and reporting, feeding into the Charity’s organisational and strategic goals and work closely with the Chief Executive, Senior Leadership and Leadership Teams to provide effective financial direction to the Finance Committee and the Board of Trustees.

This role will see you:

• Provide strategic financial leadership, advising the CEO, SLT, and Trustees on key financial matters.
• Lead on financial management and control, ensuring high standards across reporting, forecasting, and compliance.

• Manage, motivate, and develop the finance team, ensuring clear accountability and high performance.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Visitor Experience Manager (VEM) to play a vital role in leading and shaping the visitor journey at Waddesdon Manor, working Wednesday-Sunday. The successful candidate will  be an  integral part of the Visitor Experience Management Team at Waddesdon Manor ensuring that every visitor enjoys an outstanding experience that is welcoming, inclusive, and memorable.

You will be responsible for developing a culture of ‘exceptional service, every time, for everyone,’ leading by example and inspiring the wider visitor experience team to deliver outstanding customer service. With extensive management experience in a visitor-facing heritage environment, you will act as an ambassador for our visitors across the property, ensuring their needs and expectations are embedded at the heart of all operations.

What you will do:

As Visitor Experience Manager (VEM), you will oversee house-based visitor operations and lead a seamless visitor engagement program - including tours, walks, and talks - ensuring that all audiences enjoy an exceptional and inspiring experience. By maintaining consistently high standards of welcome, interpretation and storytelling, you will enhance visitor satisfaction and foster memorable experiences.

You will play a key role in the growth and evolution of the Visitor Experience department, driving excellence in operations, recruitment, training, customer service, and engagement initiatives. Operational Management

• Support the AVEM in the operational delivery of house openings and tours.

Tours & Walks Operation

• Oversee the daily delivery of the public tours and walks program, ensuring high-quality, well-resourced experiences.
• Serve as a central point of coordination between teams and departments to efficiently manage spaces and resources.
• With the AVEM provide motivational and supportive leadership to all guides and volunteers, ensuring visitor expectations remain central to operations
• Collaborate with relevant departments to create scripts and guidance for walks and tour programme delivery
• Train as a guide to cover staff/volunteer shortfalls and maintain consistency in the visitor offer
• Support out-of-hours exclusive access tours, sharing responsibilities with the VE management team

People Management

• Line manage the AVEM, providing operational guidance and supporting their professional development.

• Recruit, develop, and coach a high-performing, enthusiastic team, setting clear objectives and providing regular feedback.
• Inspire teams to engage with and safely manage the historic environment, fostering a passion for the house, its history, and collections.
• Collaborate with the VE & Volunteering teams to expand and enhance the year-round Visitor Experience volunteering program.
• Lead annual visitor care training for staff and volunteers.
• Provide ongoing role-specific training to ensure high standards of delivery.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

• Work with the Head of Visitor Experience to manage staffing and operational budgets, contributing to financial planning.
• Champion accessibility, ensuring all visitor offers meet best practice accessibility guidelines and supporting the AVEM in developing access initiatives.
• Deputise for the HVE and provide operational duty management in the AVEM’s absence.
• Serve as a second duty manager for large events, overseeing a designated site area and making operational decisions.
• Act as a trained First Aider and Fire Marshall (training provided).
• Train as a “White Hat” for Waddesdon’s Disaster Response Team and take a leadership role in major incidents if required
• Support frontline operations during peak times, major events, or staff shortages as required

About the role:

You will lead and support a team of Homicide Family Caseworkers to meet VS and Homicide Service standards and contractual requirements. You will be able to demonstrate the excellent organisational skills essential to managing a demanding and diverse workload and will have experience of achieving key performance indicators, as set by the Operation managers and Deputy Head of Service.

We pride ourselves on providing exceptional trauma informed advocacy and support to all service users and you will have an understanding of the impact that trauma and bereavement can have on individuals. We support staff to keep them safe within their role and you will lead on the importance of personal and professional resilience and wellbeing for the team.

You will have excellent communication skills and will support the Operation Managers to maintain the highest standards of service delivery, across a widely geographically dispersed team. You will be prepared to travel across the geographical area including occasional overnight stays to ensure you can meet team members in person as well as online. A driving license and use of a car are both essential as well as access to public transport. You will be reimbursed for all travel costs.

You will also enjoy working closely with a range of stakeholders (including Police Family Liaison Officers and Senior Investigation Officers within the Major Crime teams/Social Services) and will have experience in building constructive working relationships, focused on delivering the best service for vulnerable service users. You should be a confident presenter, and able to share the service and work we do to inform, educate and encourage notifications and referrals into the service.

About the role

For 50 years, Kidney Care UK has been at the forefront of supporting people with kidney disease. From our early days when we campaigned to introduce donor cards in the UK, we have worked hard to support and represent the interests of everyone affected by kidney disease.

We are looking for a passionate, talented Trusts and Foundations Manager to join our ambitious, successful Fundraising team that has been growing non-legacy income 34% year-on-year since 2021 as we approach our new 5 year fundraising strategy.

This role is responsible for managing and developing the charity’s portfolio of Trusts and Foundations, securing significant gifts and growing the long-term potential of this portfolio (target for this 12 months period is £378,000). There are no direct reports, however the successful candidate will be expected to work closely with Senior Management Teams, other departments and stakeholders to build and develop cases for support to help fund our much-needed work.

The successful candidate will utilise their expert writing skills to shape those cases for support into compelling, high-quality proposals and reports.

Building relationships with a wide range of audiences including funders is key. Inspiring them to support kidney patients across the UK and engage with the kidney community, enabling them to tell their stories and better communicate how larger trust grants can make a real difference for people with chronic kidney disease.

A dynamic, self-motivated, ambitious and pro-active fundraiser is required for this role, demonstrating enthusiasm for the projects and services we are seeking funds to support.

About you

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience and a proven track record of successful income generation and delivering against targets.

You will have demonstratable experience in researching potential Trust funders, submitting compelling proposals, securing funding and project managing successful bids through to completion of the grant award.

You will also have a background in report writing and demonstrating grant impact whilst being able to build relationships with funders, individual/major donors and senior stakeholders.

Experience of providing excellent supporter care, building mutually beneficial long-term relationships with funders is a must for this role.

Key responsibilities

Research and process management

• Work closely with our Director of Patient Support Services (Patient Grants, Hospital Grants, Advocacy and Counselling) to fully understand our work, and with our Director of Finance to fully understand the costs of delivering our work
• Build strong cases for support, ensuring that you have all the information needed to create compelling proposals and reports for high and mid-value funders
• Research and identify prospective trusts and foundations and other grant giving bodies
• Grow and maintain a strong trust funding pipeline, creating new trust prospects for our priority funding areas
• Develop our long-term trusts and foundations strategy, and agree ongoing budgets and targets for this income stream
• Maintain accurate records including tracking and analysing opportunities, results, and outcomes

Fundraising 

• Identify and manage a pipeline of high-value prospects and opportunities which have the potential to deliver five- and six-figure grants
• Work with colleagues across Kidney Care UK to develop and submit high-value and high-quality trust and foundation bids for a range of short, medium and long term projects
• Develop relationships with the Senior Management Team and other key stakeholders across the charity maximising every opportunity for cultivation and development
• Champion ways of working with the kidney community to enhance your fundraising approaches
• Plan and organise opportunities for funders to view Kidney Care UK’s work first-hand, ensuring all safeguarding procedures are followed and met

Reporting 

• Compile comprehensive and compelling progress reports to feed back to grant makers in a timely fashion and incentivise continued support
• Alongside the Director of Finance prepare accurate budgets detailing spending of specific grants
• Draw down on any multi-year grants as outlined in our annual budget
• Provide briefing notes and income pipeline on donor activities and potential funding opportunities

Our mission is to enable older people to live safely and independently in the homes of their choosing and lead happier and healthier lives. We’re looking for a Support Services Innovation Manager to join us in an exciting new role, focused on growing the services’ reach, personalisation and variety, and helping them respond to key challenges. In this role, you will provide scientific support across science engagement project development, delivery and wider RMetS team operations. Reporting to the Head of Publishing and Scientific Engagement, you will have responsibility for developing training materials and co-delivering sessions for our climate change communication training, and you will deliver RMetS early career initiatives such as our career events. You will also create engaging content for various RMetS activities and stakeholders, and work with the media to enhance public awareness of weather and climate.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to prepare documentation for outside stakeholders and willing to communicate with the media.
• A people person who has the confidence to proactively reach out to and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational skills including the ability to manage time effectively, balance multiple projects with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to think creatively, be innovative and embrace new ideas and ways of working.

Desirable skills

• One years work experience post degree, or evidence of work experience/secondment.

• Experience and keenness in public engagement and science engagement activities to a variety of audiences.

What you can expect when you work for the Royal Meteorological Society 

• Hybrid working, 2 days per week at home and 3 days per week at the RMetS Headquarters in Reading (Tuesday to Thursday).
• Permanent, full-time role (37.5 hours per week), with options to consider flexible working.
