The Head of Finance will lead on budgeting, financial management and reporting and work closely with the Chief Executive to provide effective financial direction to the Treasurer and the Board of Trustees.

You will provide financial leadership overseeing all aspects of the organisation’s finances and in ensuring that it complies with relevant legislation and principles. You will be responsible for efficient policies, procedures, systems and practices to support the smooth running of the organisation and will be proactive in developing new systems and processes to meet the needs of the British Deaf Association (BDA) as it grows. As Head of Finance, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the financial planning cycles, governance, and management reporting process as well as managing relationships with external stakeholders/advisers ensuring value for money, contractual compliance, evaluation and quality assurance processes.

With prior experience of working with charities’ accounts as well as experience of Sage accounting system used at the BDA, you will manage the Finance team and provide excellent business service and support to circa 28 staff across the UK.

As a bilingual organisation with a working language of British Sign Language (BSL) and English, we will provide BSL training for the successful candidate.

About Us

The City of London Corporation manages 11,000 acres of land in and around London that is enjoyed by millions of visitors annually. North London Open Spaces (NLOS) – a subdivision of the City Corporation - is comprised of a portfolio of some of the United Kingdom’s most iconic public urban greenspaces. The role

This exciting role within NLOS’s senior management team was created to help bring greater strategic alignment across NLOS and its charities and to better capitalise on new and existing opportunities. The post is critical to ensuring that we maximise the resources available to us through increased income generation and by forging strategic partnerships across multiple sectors and fields that allow us to increase and leverage support for each charity and provide a world class customer experience, while protecting and preserving green spaces of international significance. All activities will be undertaken with a priority to conserve the natural spaces we oversee, and to ensure that income generated at each site is reinvested back into the charity/site where it was raised. 

As a member of NLOS’s senior management team, the postholder will be responsible for overseeing a diverse and complementary portfolio, including income generation, strategic partnerships, marketing and communications, event and license management, volunteer and engagement programmes, and strategic partnerships. They will lead a newly created team with diverse and complementary roles, fill remaining team vacancies, and create a cohesive approach and narrative. As a member of NLOS’s senior management team, they will work closely with colleagues and the Superintendent to create and implement new opportunities to further improve these four iconic green spaces.

• Drive growth of Trusts and Foundations income especially at the five- and six-figure level, with a particular view to supporting unrestricted income and major projects in the organisation’s pipeline.

Westway Trust is seeking a qualified accountant to join as our Head of Finance who will lead on all aspects of the finance function to achieve the Trusts goals.  You will also manage a small team and will offer strategic finance support across the range of activities undertaken by the organisation.

You will have significant experience operating at a senior level within a complex organisation and registered charity, and will possess the right blend and balance of strategic, communication, innovation and people skills.

Key responsibilities of the role include but not limited to:

• Lead, manage and improve the Trust’s finance function and provide accurate, timely and relevant financial reports as required by the CEO, Executive Team and the Trust Board.
• Be the Executive Lead of the Finance Audit and Risk Committee, ensuring timely papers to the CEO and to the Committee and Board as required and liaising with the Head of Governance and HR as required.
• Ensure the provision and reporting of financial accounts, forecasting and large-scale project/programme budgets, estate development plans, and the associated reporting.
• Oversight of the legal and financial statutory processes in line with the Charity Commission and Companies House requirements, including the Annual Audit. Allocating tasks for timely responses and keeping all colleagues abreast of progress.
• Monitor, cash flow, reserves, analysis of performance against the organisation’s annual business plan and dashboard as it relates to the finance function.
• Contribute to the overall leadership of the Trust and to the Trust’s future strategic and operational planning. Support Executive Team colleagues as required on the delivery of cross-team initiatives.
• Line management of the Senior Finance Manager, the Debt Recovery Consultant and the Development Partnerships Lead.

Essential Experience, Skills and Attributes:

• Significant and successful experience of operating as a Head of Finance, ideally in a charity setting.
• A track record of working collaboratively with a team to develop successful internal partnerships and achieve joint success against shared objectives.
• Experience of the finance function and all the associated processes, with strong attention to detail.
• Experience of implementing enhanced reporting tools within financial software, including the ability to coach others.
• Practical knowledge of VAT, including accounting of partial exemption relevant to charities.
• Experience of managing staff and supporting their development.

About Westway Trust:

This is a new and exciting role, and you will be able to make it your own. As the Head of Planning at Scope, you will play a crucial role in shaping our organizational strategies and ensuring effective resource allocation. You will provide the senior leadership team and key stakeholders with confidence on how we are doing and the insight to make effective strategic decisions.

12 months fixed term, 35 hours per week

Location: Here East or another Scope office with flexibility to work from the office and from home.There is a clear expectation of regularly spending time in the Here East office with teams whenever needed as well as occasional travel to other locations.

The role

This role is in our Operational Performance team. You will work with the CFO and finance team to make sure our plans match our budget, the strategy and the three-year plan.

As the Head of Planning, you will:

• Work together with leaders to create and improve our organisation's plans and make sure our plans help us reach our goals.
• Review how Scope manages and monitors large scale projects
• Keep track of how we're doing using important measures.
• Include disabled people in making decisions.
• Lead and help make our organisation better.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Baby Lifeline as Head of Communications and Marketing. You will play a critical role in supporting Baby Lifeline to deliver its important mission, leading the development and delivery of our strategic communications and marketing plan. Together, these will grow awareness of and engagement with our brand and increase donations.

Head of Communications and Marketing Responsibilities:

· Providing strategic communications and marketing counsel to the Chief Executive

· Devising results-driven marketing campaigns to grow our audience and drive charity donations and fundraising

· Devising creative media engagement strategies, leading on proactive and reactive media relations including press releases, statements, interviews, and enquiries

· Building relationships with relevant professionals and experts within healthcare, to help drive sign-ups to events and training

· Managing and influencing relationships with key external influencers, such as journalists, producers, and celebrity VIP ambassadors

· Overseeing our website and social media channels, developing creative content that drives growth, reach and engagement across channels 

· Line managing a Digital Marketing Manager on the effective day to day delivery of website and social media activity; working with external agencies where appropriate

· Understanding what metrics to use as a measure of success, based on key objectives – and to report on these confidently

· Researching and evaluating the latest trends within the charity sector and using these to advance Baby Lifeline communications and marketing activity

About the role

The Head of Fundraising and Engagement will play the central role in continuing to draw new forms of income to support the College’s educational mission. You will lead on a portfolio of income-generating activities, including individual giving and legacies, corporate sponsorship, events, trusts and foundations, business development, venue hire and collaborative partnerships.

You will build on the success of the 6.5 million annual views of our YouTube channel to generate income from small donations and memberships, as well as play the lead role in growing relationships with high-net-worth individuals and corporations.

As Head of Fundraising and Engagement, you will have responsibility for the College’s wider profile and engagement, in owned, earned and paid-for media, including traditional and digital channels.

You will be responsible for brand management and development, including management of the College’s online and PR presence to grow our profile and reputation.

The Head of Fundraising and Engagement will line manage a team of four.

Who we are looking for

You will have a track record of success in raising income in a charity environment, alongside knowledge of the requirements of the fundraising regulator and best practice in the sector.

You will bring experience of working across a range of income generation areas and activities, including membership, HNWIs, corporate, and trusts and foundations. It is essential that candidates demonstrate their ability to identify, build and maintain strong donor, sponsor and supporter relationships. You should also be familiar with managing engagement and communications programmes, particularly through digital means.

Candidates should bring experience of managing individuals or teams focused on income generation within a relevant setting and be able to demonstrate the impact of their leadership through the achievement of successful income generation activities.
