Main purpose of post
This role is to lead and be responsible for the development, management and
delivery of WPCC’s high quality, professional counselling and complementary
therapy services for adults, and for children and young people, at the Cavendish
Centre and in outreach locations. This role supports the holistic well-being of
service users, ensuring the services are safe, effective, accessible, and aligned
with the charity’s values and objectives

 To lead and be responsible for the delivery of effective service provision,
including outreach services, and to maintain the ethos and high
standard of the supportive care offered.
 To lead a service that provides one-to-one and small group
complementary therapy services and one-to-one counselling for around
1,000 beneficiaries per annum, including outreach provision in hospitals.
 To be responsible for the management of a complementary therapy and
counselling services budget of around £500,000 per annum.
Leadership & Service Development
 Lead and develop complementary therapy and counselling services to
meet the needs of clients, families, and carers.
 Plan and schedule timetables and freelance staffing rotas to maximise
the availability of counselling and complementary therapies within
available budgets, maximising freelancer availability and efficient
appointment scheduling.
 Evaluate and enhance service delivery in line with best practices, clinical
guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
 Identify and implement service improvements, based on user feedback,
evidence-based practice, and sector developments.
 Work effectively with the Head of Cancer Services and other service leads
to ensure counselling and complementary therapies are an integral part
of the wider WPCC service offer to people affected by cancer.
 To be part of a service lead team which can provide leadership cover
across all services to address day-to-day operational issues, including
safeguarding cover (for adult and children’s services) and maintenance
of service availability.
Freelance therapist management
 Recruit, support, and manage a multidisciplinary team of freelance
counsellors, therapists, and volunteers.
 Ensure therapists delivering these services are of a suitable quality, and
have up-to-date and relevant accreditation/professional registration to practice, including clinical supervision arrangements, insurance, CPD
and DBS checks.
 Provide professional oversight of freelance therapists ensuring all
professional standards are met
 Ensure all team members adhere to safeguarding, clinical governance,
and confidentiality standards.
 To ensure therapists delivering these services are of a suitable quality
and have up-to-date and relevant accreditation/professional registration
to practice, including clinical supervision arrangements, insurance, CPD

Quality Assurance & Compliance
 Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ethical standards and legal
requirements in counselling and complementary therapy (e.g. BACP,
CNHC, HCPC).
 Oversee risk assessments, safeguarding processes, and incident
reporting procedures.
 Monitor and report on service performance using agreed metrics and
impact evaluation tools.
Client Care & Support
 Ensure services are inclusive, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and
tailored to individual needs.
 Act as a senior point of contact for complex cases, ensuring appropriate
pathways and referrals.
 Maintain a client-centred approach, fostering dignity, respect, and
empowerment.
Partnerships & Engagement
 Build and maintain relationships with health professionals, community

About the Role

About the role

This is a key role within the Philanthropy & Partnerships Team. About you

To be successful in this role you must have demonstrable experience of developing and implementing a plan to grow Trust & Grant income, successfully meeting or exceeding fundraising targets from a variety of funders and experience managing relationships with statutory funders and trust and foundations. You will have experience of managing fundraisers and supporting them to manage their priorities and portfolios. You will have experience of measuring and monitoring income and expenditure, and team performance.

It’s essential that you have excellent communication skills and can build relationships across the organisation to develop strong fundraising ideas and support engagement with senior staff in building relationships with trusts. You will have experience of managing donor funded grants including review of financial information, preparation of donor reports and donor compliance. You must have experience and knowledge of statutory and grant fundraising research tools and grant writing in the UK charity sector.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Education Executive plays an important role in the facilitation and delivery of RLSS UK’s Education Strategy and will be a key contributor towards our organisation’s goal to ensure everyone can Enjoy Water Safely, Free From Drowning. The role supports the Education Manager with the implementation of educational initiatives throughout the whole of the UK and Ireland and works with both external partners and colleagues within RLSS UK to communicate our vital water safety messages to young people in an accessible, engaging and inclusive way. RLSS UK are leading experts in water safety and this role aims to grow both the number of children that receive our life-saving education but also looks to diversify the audience through adaptable resources and new approaches.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with the Education Manager and colleagues throughout the organisation to deliver the RLSS UK ‘Education Strategy’, ensuring that that more young people have access to quality water safety education
• Facilitate education pilots and new interventions that are informed by the ‘Education Strategy’
• Administer future developments of RLSS UK’s education packages, ensuring that they are impactful and inclusive
• Work closely with the Volunteering Team to extend the capability of the community to deliver water safety education, providing volunteers, partners, and members with the relevant information and resources, thus standardising the delivery of our education programme
• Communicate regularly with schools, colleges and other educational institutions, encouraging the growth and stewardship of our education workforce, so that RLSS UK is more visible in schools and youth settings across the UK and Ireland
• Deputise for the Education Manager and occasionally represent RLSS UK at wider forums and groups as someone knowledgeable about water safety education
• Work with RLSS UK internal teams to ensure educational resources are up to date, accessible and attractive to a variety of different audiences
• Under direction from the Education Manager, work on new projects and initiatives which particularly seek to make water safety education accessible to ‘harder to reach communities’
• Maintain relationships with external agencies and individuals delivering similar work in the education space to network and elicit best practices
• Support the Education Manager with developing partnership work, empowering and enabling other organisations to deliver RLSS UK water safety education on our behalf

• Qualified Teaching Assistant or higher
•  At least 5 years’ experience of working in an education setting
