This is a new role, to expand and enhance our policy and evidence work in support of the Trust’s strategic goals so that we can demonstrate the impact of our programmes and provide the evidence for effective campaigns on key decisions for nature.

What you will be doing:

• Expand and improve impact measurement across the trust, and report on our impact to trustees and to partners. 

• Represent SWT in the development of Shropshire’s local nature recovery strategy and nature recovery network. 

• Lead on evidence-based campaigns on key regional issues, and support campaigns at national level. 

• Oversee the development of SWT’s geographical information systems (GIS) and databases as part of the national digital strategy. 

• Help the Trust to achieve net-zero by 2030 and inspire others to do the same. 

• Respond to significant planning applications. 

• Refine and embed SWT’s ‘theory of change’. 

What we’re looking for:

• Strong analytical skills, including a good understanding of quantitative and qualitative research, are essential.

• The ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments, and with external partners, is essential.

• Significant knowledge of conservation, ecology, climate and/or public health policy are desirable.

• Experience of strategic planning including the use of theory of change is desirable.

• Experience of carbon accounting is desirable.

• An understanding of the local authority planning system is desirable.

The Role:

Responsibilities:

· Prospect research

o Develop a high degree of awareness of PML’s work, achievements and funding needs

o Research prospective funders via funding directories, online research, and networking

o Liaise with funders to obtain information about funding opportunities

o Alert colleagues to relevant funding opportunities

o Carry out desk research to gather information in support of funding proposals

About You (Essential):

• Fundraising experience with a proven track record of grant success.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including being personable, tactful, and able to build positive working relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including funders.

About you

We are seeking an organised individual with demonstrable experience in providing professional HR support, and a desire to grow and develop in a varied and interesting generalist role.

Fundraising Development Manager

The Fundraising Development Manager role is a real opportunity to help Somerset Wildlife Trust develop a sustainable fundraising strategy and bring together the Fundraising and Supporter Development Team to retain and grow donations. Responsible for our 23,000 members, as well as appeals, adoptions, our online shop and member events, the Fundraising Development Manager will lead the team to bring in a significant proportion of unrestricted income, as well as managing the relationships with some of our most passionate supporters.

We are looking for an insightful fundraising manager who can help us maintain our existing fundraising channels as well as developing our corporate membership strategy and investigating new sources of giving and opportunities we have yet to take advantage of – essential if we are to achieve our ambitious strategy. You’ll be working with the entire wider fundraising team to help develop leads and pipelines to support the wider fundraising efforts, as well as having the opportunity to diversify our fundraising actions.

Meet Fundraising Strategic Targets

Supervise and line manage the Fundraising and Supporter Care Team by building integrated programmes of supporter development activities that retain and grow donations and fundraising from existing supporters and deliver growth in income by recruiting new financial supporters to achieve financial targets.

Responsibility 1: Leading Public Fundraising Activity

Manage fundraising activity through:

• Leading the fundraising team to build integrated programmes of activities that increase donors and deliver growth in income.
• Growing annual membership numbers by managing and maintaining current recruitment channels. Oversee relationships and engagement with our membership including complaint management.
• Managing the relationship with the Trust’s face to face membership recruitment company, SWWFL, to deliver best efficiency and returns on investment.
• Planning and implementing integrated appeals and other ways for members and the public to give which deliver strong results to support the Trust’s fundraising priorities and targets.
• Working as fundraising leadership team with the Philanthropy and Trusts & Grants Managers, supporting the Head of Fundraising on strategic projects.
• Developing and testing activities based on insights and analysis to ensure the best return on investment across all segments of the supporter base, to support fundraising colleagues.
• Managing existing corporate relationships to maintain and improve corporate fundraising levels, supporting account management of corporate partners.
• Establishing a data collection strategy in line with current data protection rules and which creates a pool of warm leads to convert into donors.
• Ensuring our new supporter database (Raiser’s Edge) is fully developed within the Trust and developed to maximise our integration with existing systems. Supporting teams across the organisation to use RE to increase knowledge of existing relationships and creating opportunities for fundraising and engagement.
• Managing the workload, performance and personal development of the supporter development team to drive more support and income for Somerset Wildlife Trust.
• Being accountable for setting the Supporter Development budget and reporting on performance against targets, to help inform planning and product development.
• Championing the use of best practice marketing techniques, including data collection and GDPR, throughout the Trust, with a particular commitment to delivering high standards of supporter care and fundraising practice.

Responsibility 2: Developing sustainable income streams

Be proactive and nurture strong relationships by:

• Identifying, developing and testing new individual giving fundraising activities based on insights and analysis, to ensure sustainable fundraising income across a variety of sources that target all segments of the supporter base.
• Identifying and testing membership recruitment diversification channels and growing annual membership income via techniques including upgrades.
• Designing and implementing a fundraising strategy for corporates, including identifying targets, developing relationships, and significantly increasing income from this fundraising channel. Work with other corporate functions across the Trust to ensure a combined corporate offering that benefits everyone.

Responsibility 3: Developing Fundraising pipelines

Provide management and accountability by:

• Working collaboratively with colleagues to contribute ideas and knowledge to deliver integrated engagement and fundraising campaigns and the growth of other income streams, including gifts of £1k+, gifts in wills, Community Fundraising and Grant Fundraising.
• Creating user journeys and stewardship for our supporters to help retention and increase giving propensities.
• Developing a warm lead generation and development program to increase the number of potential donors within our database, supporting all areas of individual giving including Community Fundraising, Legacies, Major Donors and Patrons.
• Working with the Database Officer, Philanthropy Manager and Community Fundraising Manager to identify segments within the database that could be developed into Major Donors or to support other fundraising income streams.
• Investigating and developing an event strategy to help support specific demographic groups including Corporates, members and other key supporters, including the annual AGM and members day.

You’ll work closely with the Head of Campaigns and the wider team to develop and deliver positively disruptive campaign strategies designed to meet the organisation’s overarching goal of rescuing our rivers. You’ll be investigating the causes of river pollution at a catchment level, delving deep into supply chains to uncover those behind the damaging practices that are killing our rivers and identifying constructive solutions at a catchment and national scale. You’ll be working collaboratively with the River Action team to devise, develop and deliver creative campaigns and tactics, designed to have the greatest impact on the most threatened rivers and communities by engaging the voting and consuming public and holding polluters and government to account. You’ll be supporting the Head of Campaigns and our external consultants to deliver our political advocacy and legal action strategy to bring about change at the highest level of decision making. You will bring energy and innovation for scaling our reach and impact, blending a touch of the maverick with a professional and diplomatic approach to bringing about change urgently.

Main Duties 

• Contribute to the delivery of River Action’s campaign strategies.

• Plan, deliver and coordinate data-driven campaigns for community, media and political audiences.

• Generate highly engaging written and graphic content for our campaigns, adjusting the tone and messaging to different audiences and campaign needs.

• Utilise research showing the causes and sources of river pollution at a catchment level within the policy and regulatory context and assess evidence (including scientific data and reports) to develop impactful campaigns.

• Work with our outside legal counsel to explore legal routes to tackling river pollution such as bringing judicial reviews targeting Government and private actions targeting industry.

• Utilise River Action’s project assessment and management systems and processes to ensure the efficient coordination of campaigns. 

• Investigate and report pollution supply chains at a catchment level for example the relationship between farming, producing, transporting and retailing food and the associated pollution.

• Plan, deliver and coordinate creative campaigns including petitions, public meetings, protests, stunts and campaign collateral such as video and other content. 

• Develop key campaign tools and assets such as props, promotional assets, toolkits and digital campaign tools.

• Draft engaging written content for different audiences to raise awareness of the problems rivers and communities face and offer hope and solutions.

• Contribute data and research outputs for the creation of press releases, MP briefings, policy documents and public communications.

• Represent River Action at campaign events and media opportunities, providing well-informed, professional and motivating contributions. 

• Coordinate contractors and suppliers that are engaged to support our campaigns and activations.

• Contribute data and content for our impact monitoring and evaluation systems.

• Produce internal monthly campaign reports and provide content and data for external communications. 

• Maintain and develop partnerships with other key groups and stakeholders working in similar areas of work to River Action.

• Identify opportunities to engage, empower and expand River Actions network of supporters. 

• Support the Communications Coordinator to create inspiring and high quality digital and social media content and news stories, including taking photographs and videos, writing articles/blogs, providing comments and conducting interviews.

• Support the Head of Campaigns, Communications Coordinator and Senior Media Coordinator in responding to the reactive news agenda.

• Help ensure all team members are well-briefed and on brand ahead of external engagement.

• Contribute to fundraising efforts particularly crowd funding and drafting of funding proposals to support Campaigns and Fundraising Teams and charity’s mission.

• Work as a motivated and collaborative team player within a fast-paced team.

• Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the post as requested by your line manager or any other member of the River Action team.

River Action has just released data about the state of the British dairy industry in the national press. Please provide a one page campaign plan for how you would use that data and initial story to target the responsible polluters and government regulators, mobilise the public and campaign for urgent changes in industry practices and regulation. Consider how you would generate media headlines about the pollution problems and potential solutions while raising the profile of River Action, promoting positive opportunities that put farmers in a positive light and offering support to help them change their practices while targeting the root causes of the systemic problem caused by lack of regulation, lack of incentive and pressures from supply chains such as supermarkets. This should include your idea, target audience, how you would measure success, and a high level project plan. You do not have to include costs but your proposal should be appropriate for an overall budget of £20,000. As Fundraising Manager you will lead the high value fundraising (Grants, Trusts and Corporates, major donors) team in Wales to maximise income from external funding streams by developing funding plans, identifying opportunities, building relationships and generating funds to agreed targets. The role is home based in Wales with expectation of coming together regularly to meet in offices or travel across Wales when appropriate.

What's the role about?

This is a strategic role looking to maximise existing income sources and identify and evaluate new sources of income to ensure sustainable funding for RSPB Cymru's work. The successful candidate will develop and deliver fundraising plans, implement and review an annual team work programme, and manage and maintain relationships with existing and potential funders to increase financial support for nature conservation programmes across the RSPB and partners/sector.

Key to this role will be working with Head of Funding Development and colleagues to plan advocacy and solicitation strategies, ensuring standards, funding conditions and compliance is met, reporting internally and externally and setting and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to optimise performance, maximise income and ensure on-going funding of RSPB's work.

Essentials:

• Proven track record in Grants, Trusts and Corporates fundraising.
• Experience of developing fundraising projects with a range of partners and managing multiple donor relationships.
• Working to income targets and managing income and expenditure budgets.
• Thorough in-depth understanding of funder motivations, funding processes, the implications of funding packages and commitments and project management principles.

To support this new strategy and to develop our fundraising further, we are now looking for a proactive and experienced grants fundraiser to join our Development and Corporate Partnerships Team on a 12-month contract in a new and pivotal role.  During this initial 12 months you will be working to develop and implement a new plan which will significantly increase funding for our core scientific research from research bodies and other funding sources, develop support for our sustainability projects, and secure new institutional and government funding for our national education programmes.

Reporting into the Head of Trusts and Statutory Funding and based either at our headquarters in London, or at RHS Garden Wisley in Surrey, you will work closely with our science and education departments, collaorating with colleagues to develop a strong pipeline of sustainable and long-term funding for our programmes, core activities and new initiatives.  You will be familiar with fundraising for scientific research and other core programmes and be able to utilise your existing experience and networks across a broad range of funding sectors.

We are a small and agile campaigning organisation on a mission to rescue Britain’s rivers from a toxic cocktail of agricultural, sewage and industrial pollution. The Communities Coordinator will support community groups to campaign for clean rivers at a local level. By facilitating grass roots action you’ll be galvanising a strong and powerful network of community activists that have the power to create change both locally and nationally. You’ll be responsible for taking River Action’s national campaign strategy to a local level. You’ll work closely with the Campaigns Manager and the wider team to develop a Community Toolkit (including advice for activists, and guidance and services for communications, fundraising, legal support and citizen science projects) to support communities as well as provide strategic support to empower community activists to campaign for clean rivers. You’ll work closely with the Campaigns Manager and wider team to amplify the stories of those taking action at a local level and connect campaign groups to the wider national agenda. You’ll be working collaboratively with the River Action team to devise, develop and deliver our strategy ensuring our programme of community engagement is equitable, diverse and inclusive. You’ll be working closely with other organisations to ensure our community support compliments the work of others and meets the needs of community groups we work with. 

Main Duties
