This role focuses mainly on families living in Brent and Barnet, with children aged under 5. Since the pandemic, there has been a noted decline in the readiness of children in starting school, and there has been a greater identification of neurodivergence and complex additional needs at an early age. For many of our families, this has been even more impactful due to the multiple vulnerability factors that many families are experiencing – many are migrant and transient families, lone parents, those living in poverty, having multiple young children in a single household, with experience of domestic abuse or substance use.

About the Role

As a Family Support Coordinator, you’ll play a vital role in helping families with young children who are experiencing multiple challenges. You’ll:

• Work directly with families to help children meet key early years milestones and prepare for school.

• Run parenting workshops, stay and play groups and peer-support sessions that empower parents

• Recruit, train, and support a team of incredible volunteers who make a lasting difference in children’s lives.

• Collaborate with professionals across health, education, and social care to provide a truly joined-up approach to family support.

• Has experience of supporting vulnerable families, ideally in early years or family services.

As Co-Deputy Manager, you’ll play a key role in shaping and sustaining our services. You’ll lead on operational delivery, contribute to strategic planning, and take the lead on fundraising, communications and volunteers. Your writing skills will be essential in crafting compelling funding bids and reports, and your organisational flair will help us run smoothly and effectively.

• Is highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. 

• Has experience in fundraising, including developing and implementing strategies. 

• Can write clear, persuasive reports and grant applications.

It’s an exciting time to join World Cancer Research Fund International’s policy team as we develop the next phase of our policy tools and resources. WCRF International leads and unites a global network of cancer prevention charities based in Europe and the Americas, providing the science, policy, and strategic direction that guides their work to prevent cancer worldwide.

We are recruiting a Senior Policy Research Manager to lead WCRF’s flagship policy tools, including NOURISHING, MOVING and the Blueprint for Cancer Prevention. You will translate the latest science into actionable policy recommendations, deliver high-quality research projects, and represent WCRF externally to maximise our national and international impact.

We are looking for a candidate with strong policy research expertise, experience in evidence-based advocacy, and the ability to turn complex science into clear policy solutions. You will bring an innovative approach, including exploring new methods such as AI, and be skilled at working across teams and with external stakeholders.

You will have a proven track record in managing policy tools or research projects, building collaborations and engaging senior decision-makers. Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder skills are essential to support WCRF’s strategy and enhance the influence of the Policy & Public Affairs team.
