We’re looking for a Fundraising Officer to join Aspire’s small, agile and supportive Fundraising & Communications team. You’ll be an all‑round fundraiser, working across corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, and community, events and individual giving. You’ll help grow and diversify our voluntary income so that more people across Oxfordshire and the Thames Valley can move out of homelessness, poverty and long‑term unemployment into secure work and housing.

The Head of Fundraising and Communications plays a pivotal role in shaping and driving Bowel Research UK's fundraising strategies and audience engagement initiatives.
This position is responsible for embedding and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies, growing the charity’s supporter base and income, building up new and under-developed income streams and communicating effectively with their audiences to expand their reach, and encourage financial and non-financial support to deliver the organisations mission.

Manage all new donor streams for the Trust, including mail, email, regular giving, mid-value supporters, and legacy prospects, while delivering multi-channel campaigns and creating strong welcome journeys. Convert one-off donors into regular givers, ensure smooth transition to long-term stewardship, and develop strategies to grow legacy and in-memory giving.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This role’s primary responsibilities will be as follows:
1. Develop and implement the Trust’s strategy across regular giving, one of donors, mid value and legacy pledgers to acquire and steward new donors. Working with the other Individual Giving Manager and in consultation with the Head of Fundraising and Communications.
2. Prepare and monitor the annual income and expenditure budget with support from the Head of Fundraising.
3. Responsible for delivering existing integrated campaigns spanning direct-mail, partially addressed mail, inserts, telephone acquisition and digital channels against the agreed schedules, targets and budgets.
4. Work closely with the Database Manager (and relevant agencies) on criteria for data selections, data extractions and supply.
5. Measure attrition in key acquisition groups as well as other key metrics on an ongoing basis and develop strategies to reactivate and mitigate against donor attrition.
6. Work with a creative agency on campaigns across all Individual Giving streams, testing and adapting regularly to optimise results.
7. Work with the other Individual Giving Manager focused on retention, Database Manager and the appointed fulfilment house to ensure that supporters are managed to the highest level of donor care standards and GDPR guidelines.
8. Continue to develop the regular giving acquisition proposition to grow each segment of supporters and negate attrition.
9. Maximise Gift Aid income from the acquisition appeals.
10. Working with Legacy Administration team lead on legacy marketing.
11. Remain current on developments to GDPR, especially to consent and ensure all campaigns comply with those guidelines.
12. As appropriate, to support and participate in any fundraising event organised by the Trust.
13. Undertake other tasks as appropriate as directed by the Head of Fundraising & Communications.

Each year the Donmar raises around half of its annual income from fundraising, from a combination of individual supporters, corporate partners, and trusts & foundations. The Development team is formed of 11 individuals and Individual Giving is responsible for around half of the Development target.
The Senior Individual Giving Manager plays a vital role, delivering excellent customer service to individual supporters; leading on planning and delivery for the Donmar’s membership scheme; building, developing and maintaining relationships with Patrons up to £6,500, as well as looking after their own portfolio of Major Donors, securing gifts towards our productions and participation programmes.

About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Philanthropy Officer to support the College’s fundraising and donor engagement activities.
Working closely with the Philanthropy Manager and Head of Development, you will help secure philanthropic support for a range of College priorities, including research, education, global surgery and heritage. This includes supporting fundraising activity for the College’s Global CARE initiative, which aims to address healthcare inequalities worldwide through improved access to safe surgery and patient care. You will contribute to the delivery of fundraising campaigns, legacy giving initiatives, undertake prospect research, develop funding proposals and build relationships with individual donors, corporate supporters, trusts and foundations.
This is a varied role that combines relationship management, fundraising, communications and research. It offers the opportunity to develop experience across a broad range of philanthropic activities while contributing to initiatives that support the College’s mission to advance surgical and dental care worldwide.
The role is based in Edinburgh with flexibility for hybrid working. Occasional travel and out-of-hours working may be required to support meetings, events and donor engagement activities.
Experience/Qualifications/Key Skills
You will be educated to degree level or possess equivalent professional experience and have experience in fundraising, philanthropy, donor engagement, partnership development or a related field.
You will be an organised and proactive individual with excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Experience of prospect research, preparing funding proposals and securing support from donors, sponsors, trusts or foundations would be advantageous.
You will be comfortable managing multiple priorities, working with databases or CRM systems and collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
