About this key role

About Bite Back 2030
We’re surrounded by junk food. From the moment we're born, every second of every day, children are being targeted. Giant companies manipulate them with colourful, cuddly, clever marketing, deceive them with packaging claims and pump products at them that are full of junk. It's become the cultural wallpaper. Now, it risks endangering the health of a generation.
In the UK, nearly a third of children aged 2-15 face a higher risk of food-related ill health in their futures. The good news is, it's preventable. And we're biting back.
Bite Back is a youth activist movement challenging a food system that's been set up to fool us all by:
1) Calling out the manipulation of the junk food giants.
2) Demanding higher standards from food marketing and from everyday food itself.
3) Mobilising and equipping young people in the fight for better food.
We do all this so we can bite back against a global epidemic of food-related ill health.
About Bite Back in Schools
Bite Back has delivered our youth social action programme — Bite Back in Schools— to over 120 schools over the last two years. Working with secondary schools, we have supported over 2,000 11-14 year olds to plan and deliver social action projects to prioritise child health by improving their school food. This could be by making nutritious and sustainable food the norm by increasing the flow of healthy options in their canteens, or by redesigning the school food experience to put healthy options in the spotlight.
With funding awarded from the #iWill Fund, we are recruiting a brilliant cohort of schools who will join the programme in September 2024. Our programme model combines an assembly delivered by a Bite Back young ambassador, five hours of curriculum time sessions for a whole year group, and our ever-popular and impactful School Food Champions (SFC) extra-curricular club. Role Description
The Programmes Manager plays a key role supporting our community of schools during their time on the programme. They will support the design and lead on the delivery of Bite Back in Schools to ensure the best possible user experience for young people, their teachers and their schools, and to ensure the programme makes the greatest possible impact.
The Programmes Manager will report to the Head of Programmes, and will work closely with colleagues across Bite Back, in particular with our comms, digital, youth and policy teams, working within our Strategy and Delivery Function.
Key responsibilities include:
Relationship management

Provide ongoing support to schools throughout their time on the programme, building strong working relationships with participating schools.

Lead communication with all schools, being the first point of contact for the coordinator and lead teacher in each school.

We are looking for a motivated, creative, and organised Engagement and Communications Officer to join our team. This role is a unique opportunity for someone with a passion for building a fairer legal system through impactful events, engaging member outreach, and powerful communications. Working alongside the Director of Development and the Head of Communications, this role will work across teams to maintain and strengthen engagement through events, communications and corporate outreach. The Engagement and Communications Officer will work to maximise income and support for JUSTICE through events (approximately 45% of the role), communications (approximately 30% of the role) and membership (approximately 25% of the role). Purpose of job:
As Senior Fundraising Strategist you’ll play an integral role in defining the fundraising strategies for cross organisational campaigns and targeted fundraising and engagement activities. Working as a senior fundraising strategist within our Campaign Strategy & Planning team, you’ll direct cross-disciplinary project teams from across all levels of the business to deliver target beating initiatives from Red Nose Day to new product development initiatives that drive new revenue streams. You’ll help establish data and insight led planning processes, ensuring strategies are well informed and robust. A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join Westway Trust as a Property Assistant, providing efficient and responsive administrative support across the full property team. You will be a friendly, motivated, and active administrator who will play a key role in the smooth running of the property department.
You will be pro-active, organised, with good initiative being the main point of contact responding to estate and property related enquiries and reports of issues, from tenants, customers, contractors and the community. You will therefore need to possess or demonstrate a willingness to provide a good level of customer service with property knowledge.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Provide efficient and effective administrative support across the Property team, including daily active filing, archiving, photocopying, scanning and record keeping.
- Initial point of contact for enquiries to the Property team.
- Provide a responsive customer service handling system to record such enquiries.
- Coordinating the general day-to-day activities of the Head of Property & Estates in relation to emails, posts, and voicemails.
- Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of property particulars, void reports, and reviewing property marketing websites for current information.
- Cross-referencing and managing the prospective tenant’s selection list with the historical enquiry list and alerting the team of any repeat/active enquiries.
- Regular visits to Trust premises to record any Health and Safety/Fire Risk Assessment breaches and reporting these to the appropriate Facilities Management team member.
- Assist with attending Unit Base Parking/Filming/Events on the estate, recording any infringements of agreements on site, and notifying the appropriate team member for further follow-on action.
- Preparing notification details for relevant authorities for entry and exit of tenants – rates, utilities, etc.
- Assisting with servicing property meetings (i.e., circulating papers, coordinating actions where required).
- Responsible for the recording of void premises and issuing of building keys.
- Occasionally provide assistance to the Trust’s reception/office manager for general office duties and reception cover if required.
Knowledge and Experience:
- A minimum of one year’s experience in a busy property department.
- A broad understanding of commercial property or demonstrable experience of transferable skills if you are from a different sector.
- Customer focused, with the ability to provide a friendly and efficient service to customers, staff and tenants.
- Good time management, attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure with changing priorities.
- Excellent administrative skills.
- High level IT skills and experience of using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Personal skills:
- A personable and collaborative approach, with experience of developing and maintaining positive relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Good communication skills, orally and in writing.

Prospecting and research

The Executive Management Administration team of 5, headed by the MD, run the organisation on a day-to-day basis. The team is supported by the REB board and committees, together with 3rd party providers for accounting, payroll, banking, media & public relations, website hosting and IT services.
Role and Responsibilities
New Position: Due to the increase in REB memberships and activities, a new full-time events role is being created to support the executive team.
Key Tasks – support the MD in creating and delivering a member engagement and events programme
1. Conception and collaboration of member events, through to completion
2. Promoting events to members, working alongside REB’s external PR/Communications agency
3. Managing event registrations and guest lists
4. Responsible for line managing the events administrator
5. Responsible for REB events planning, logistics, analysis (report & presentation) and follow-up actions
6. Attending meetings with members re event planning and development

Detailed Responsibilities
