About this role:
As Vet Admin Assistant, you’ll

• be the first point of contact those contacting our busy Vet team,
• assist with the daily monitoring of a number of inboxes, providing clients with excellent customer service,
• support with the administration of our emergency fund, which supports dog owners in financial need and provide cover in our busy pharmacy, based at our London office
• support with the processing of prescriptions, maintain accurate records and organise relationship building meetings with vet practices for a number of stakeholders to attend.

For this role, you’ll need to be an organised, people person; with excellent communication skills, with confidence across different systems, drawing from either experience or your ability to pick up new processes quickly. You’ll also need to work confidently under pressure, while maintaining the ability to prioritise tasks appropriately and use initiative. The Veterinary department is a friendly team of nurses, surgeons and administrative staff working in the London office. The primary responsibility for this team is to provide case guidance and management options for dogs within our care across our network of Rehoming Centres and other veterinary related schemes such as Outreach, Shared Adoption Scheme (SAS), Veterinary Support Fund (VSF) and the Emergency Trust Fund (ETF).

We are recruiting a manager to lead Manchester Young Lives’ adventure play and youth work in Moss Side, Ardwick, Blackley, Moston and Harpurhey. We provide open access and targeted play and youth work activities. Our after-school adventure play provision is Ofsted registered and provides activities for 6-13 year olds. Our youth provision engages with young people aged 11+ after school and during the evenings, in centres and on the streets.

Our work enables often disadvantaged children and young people the opportunity to learn, develop and connect with their communities, build safe and supportive relationships with committed workers, and let off steam on our adventure playgrounds.

You must have relevant skills and experience in working with children and young people, sometimes in challenges situations, and the ability to manage a team of staff and volunteers.

The main responsibilities of the CEO are:

Strategic leadership

·Work with the Board of Trustees and the Head of Operations, and consult with staff, survivors, and others, to develop and define a clear, strong vision and direction for the future of the organisation.

·Lead on and be responsible for the creation, ongoing development and implementation of the organisation’s strategic, business and annual plans.

·Foster, model and promote an inclusive, feminist, anti-racist organisational culture that reflects CARA’s ethos and values.

·Be accountable to the Board of Trustees for the overall financial health of the organisation.

Good governance

·Report and present to the Board of Trustees on the organisation’s progress against its budgets, plans, any risks, challenges and changes, and all information relevant and necessary to the effective discharge of the Board’s duties, including strategic decision-making.

·Develop and share proposals with the Board for the implementation of its objectives and the ongoing development of the organisation.

Business development

·Generate new and various funding and income opportunities through networking, developing partnerships.

·Increase the unrestricted income of the charity, including developing, proposing and implementing new and innovative approaches to its income generation activities, including working closely with the CEO of Icena.

·Be responsible for maintaining and developing strong, long-term relationships with a diverse range funders and donors, both existing and new.

Representation

• To act as lead representative for CARA in the Synergy Essex Rape Crisis Partnership, developing strong working relationships with the other partners and negotiating CARA’s role, responsibilities and the financial allocations it receives from the partnership. 
• To keep up-to-date with current developments affecting victims and survivors of sexual violence and ensure that CARA responds appropriately to these developments.
• To be the chief spokeswoman for CARA, responding to media and other enquiries as appropriate and playing a pro-active role in bringing relevant issues to the attention of the public, issuing press releases and initiating debate, as appropriate.
• Build, support and oversee strong relationships with individuals and organisations across the voluntary, public and private sectors, and in local and national government.
• To contribute to Rape Crisis England and Wales campaigns and other campaigns, as appropriate.
• To remain informed of national and regional Rape Crisis perspectives, drawing on Rape Crisis England and Wales expertise and resources as appropriate.

Organisational management

·Ensure policies and processes that support good communication, staff health and well-being, and safe and effective delivery of work are in place and adhered to throughout the organisation.

·Take overall responsibility for the staff team, its management and performance.

·Capture the organisation’s work through robust monitoring and evaluation, and ensure CARA’s impact and any learning is shared throughout the team and with the Board, survivors, funders and other partners as appropriate.

·Oversee and ensure robust financial management processes for the charity.

Other

·To oversee safeguarding at CARA, working with the Designated Safeguarding Leads to ensure effective policies and procedures are in place and communicated to staff, trustees, sessional counsellors and volunteers, and that CARA follows best safeguarding practice.

·To be administratively self-servicing, and to share responsibility for a range of day-to-day tasks with the Head of Operations and other team members.

About Synergy Essex

CARA is part of Synergy Essex – the Essex Rape and Sexual Abuse Partnership. We work with SERICC Rape and Sexual Abuse Specialist Service and Southend-on-Sea Rape Crisis (SOS Rape Crisis) to deliver the contract for the Office for the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (PFCC) for Essex for services for victims and survivors of sexual violence and child sexual abuse across Essex, Southend and Thurrock. Synergy Essex also shares a number of other projects, funded by the Ministry of Justice, Essex County Council and the National Lottery Community Fund.

Our current PFCC contract ends in March 2025.  Synergy Essex intends to submit a bid for the new contract, which is expected to be put out to tender in the summer of 2024.

World Cancer Research Fund International (WCRFI) leads and unifies a network of cancer prevention charities based in Europe and the Americas. Our shared vision is a world where no one develops a preventable cancer.

WCRFI is responsible for the Global Cancer Update Programme (CUP Global) which is our global cancer prevention and survival programme focussing on the links between diet, nutrition, physical activity and cancer. Forming the cornerstone of all our work, the project is the only authoritative scientific resource of its kind in the world.

We are seeking a Head of Research Interpretation who will be responsible for managing the delivery of CUP Global. You will chair the CUP Global Secretariat and also provide support to the Assistant Director of Research and Policy and the Director of Research, Policy and Innovation in the oversight and strategic direction of the programme of work. You will also contribute to other projects such as ensuring that the WCRF network has the latest global cancer statistics, including new estimates of the preventability of cancer. 

You will be educated to PhD level, with ideally at least 2 years postdoctoral experience in a research environment, in a relevant area (e.g. nutrition, cancer, epidemiology, public health). You will have a good understanding of public health and epidemiology, nutrition and/or cancer and have experience of conducting and/or interpreting systematic reviews. You will have strong people management skills, with direct line management experience.

We are seeking a for a new Director & Head of Legal Practice to take forward this unique, niche Law Centre.  There is an opportunity for expanding the work of the Law Centre and showcasing the worth of health justice partnerships.We are looking for an energetic and compassionate lawyer with a broad experience of either housing or community care casework and representation, who is capable of being a legal aid category supervisor in either area, who has the confidence to lead the team and to develop it so that we can continue to make a real difference within the community.

Qualifications and experience

1. 5 years’ PQE qualified lawyer, with demonstrable experience of management at a senior level.

The Director of Finance Business Partnering (Operations) is a critical role within the Financial Strategy, Planning & Performance division that will lead, develop and deliver high quality finance business partnering and decision support to all the central services of the university, including providing financial planning, reporting and insight across revenue and capital funded activity. 

You will support the senior Director of the Financial Strategy, Planning & Performance function in development and improvement projects. Examples include the development of a professional competencies framework to support career progression and performance at all levels, supported by learning and development opportunities, improving key processes, resource allocation and financial planning methodologies, and reporting on financial performance.

As part of the function’s senior management team, this role will lead a team of finance business partners who will provide outstanding partnering services to our central services including large functions such as Estates and Facilities, IT, Students & Education, Research Management and on other crucial ‘head office’ activities. Working closely with the corporate reporting team on the provision of management accounts, you will lead on financial performance support in-year and across our three-year financial planning framework. We are recruiting for a Head of Audit and Improvement job share partner to work up to 26 hours per week alongside our existing Head of Audit and Improvement. In this role you will:

• Lead quality performance, supporting, advising and proactively identifying risk and areas for improvement in each Operational area including adult social care and educational programmes

Main duties and responsibilities:

IT

· Ensure all staff have IT equipment from their first day of work, ensuring that they are able to access the IT support they need with minimal interruption to daily tasks.

The Role
We are looking for a Data Governance Lead to come in and work to define what first-class data governance looks like for the Charity, including establishing a data retention framework for their relationship marketing systems and tools, to ensure privacy is included within process design at all points, and will work to embed best practice data quality standards within the organisation.

You will champion and train colleagues in how to get the most from data, creating a framework for data classification, discovery and the provision of self-service datasets and increasing data literacy across the organisation.

This individual will be the resident expert in data governance and maturity, adept in data governance tools and helping to classify, categorise and document our data.

The Candidate
We are looking for someone with experience in developing and implementing data governance policies, standards and procedures, with an understanding of advocating for better use and management of data along with delivering better data literacy within an organisation. You should have experience of setting up or establishing a data governance framework from scratch, enabling data users to deliver their objectives efficiently and confidently.

Experience of implementing data governance tools such as Azure Purview, Informatica, Talend, etc would be highly advantageous.

Furthermore, you should have excellent communication and persuasion skills with the ability to turn technical understanding into clear, understandable, and useful information and advice for internal customers.

Ideally you will have worked as a Data Governance Manager or a Data Governance Lead, but we will also welcome applications from those with strong Data Management experience across a range of sectors and disciplines.
