We are recruiting a Complaints Officer to join our committed, friendly, and dynamic Complaints team.

Reporting to the Heads of Complaints and working closely with the Systems department, the purpose of the Complaints Officer position is to handle complaints made to IPSO in a personal, authoritative and efficient manner and to assist in the operation of IPSO’s pre-publication and privacy notice services.

About the role

This is a role for someone who is articulate and efficient, with excellent communication and analytical skills, and an interest in news and how it is regulated.

IPSO has a strong commitment to staff development, and the role benefits from a well-structured and stimulating programme of progression. Starting with drafting responses to complainants whose complaints are not being taken forward, the successful candidate will progress to investigating complaints, drafting rulings for external publication, and mediating between complainants and publications.

You will also be trained to staff, on a rota basis, IPSO’s pre-publication and privacy notice services, which provide 24-hour confidential advice to editors and journalists on matters relating to the Editors’ Code and protect members of the public and public figures from potential intrusion and unwanted press attention.

The key role responsibilities include:

• Reviewing and investigating complaints to IPSO to determine whether they fall within its remit and raise a potential breach of the Editors’ Code of Practice;
• Drafting recommendations for the consideration of the Complaints Committee;
• Providing efficient, compassionate and effective pre-publication and privacy notice services.

Skills and experience

Efficient, effective and empathetic, the right candidate will have a strong analytical ability that they can convey both verbally and in writing. You will have excellent writing skills, and experience of drafting important documents to a high level. You will also have experience of dealing sensitively and professionally with people from a range of backgrounds. Complaints Officers are trusted with a high level of autonomy in their work – so demonstrable time management and organisational skills are required.

A personal interest in current affairs and the news industry is a must, but there is no need for a degree or qualification in this area.

What we can offer you

There is a competitive starting salary of £41k, plus another £2k after 24 months of service. You’ll also receive an additional £1,145 on-call allowance after the relevant training has taken place, 25 days of paid annual leave plus a holiday buy and sell scheme, and excellent additional benefits including season ticket loan, cycle to work scheme, private GP service, and (once probation is completed) free fitness membership.

The role is full-time, and IPSO offers hybrid working to all staff. All staff work two core days (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) in our Central London office. New staff may be asked to come in for more days while they familiarise themselves with the organisation.

The Billing Coordinator (Legal Aid) is a collaborative role and part of the Billing Project, an initiative by the London Legal Support Trust (LLST) aimed at providing specialist support to the free advice sector in London. 

Key purpose of the Billing Coordinator is to:

• Develop systems that ensure the smooth and efficient billing of legal aid for LRMN, Barking and Dagenham Citizens Advice and Cardinal Hume Centre.

The Finance officer is responsible for vital financial functions, including recording all financial transactions and assigning income and expenditures to appropriate funds, projects, and cost centres, processing BACS payments and assisting with processing of month end schedules, among other duties. About the role

The Principal & International Giving (PIG) team is responsible for securing principal and transformational gifts of £5m+, and high-level gifts of £50k+ from across the international philanthropy portfolio.

The Business Support Manager provides critical operational, programme and business support and management to enable the continued success and evolution of the Principal and International Giving programme.

This is a fast-paced and varied role, spanning business operations, cross-team coordination, and international activity management. The postholder will work closely with the Principal Giving and International Philanthropy teams and sit within the wider Business Operations unit, ensuring P&A operates in an efficient, joined-up and high-performing way. They will therefore report to the Senior Business Manager, with their day-to-day activity supporting the Associate Director of Principal & International Giving and the Head of Philanthropy (International).

The role suits an ambitious self-starter who enjoys working with people, processes, and systems; can manage complexity and competing priorities; and can act as an active enabler and connector, bringing together the right people at the right time to support fundraising success.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week) and you will be offered an indefinite contract. P&A has a hybrid working approach, with a minimum of 40% of time in the office. Typically, this equates to two days per week, but we’re very happy for colleagues to be in more frequently if they so wish.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

· Proven experience in project or programme management or complex coordination

As a Compliance & Recruitment Officer you will deliver a high quality and responsive service to prospective candidates, recruiting managers and business stakeholders. In addition, you serve as a subject matter expert to the People Team and the wider organisation, ensuring that we prioritise the safeguarding of the children and young people right from the start of an employee’s recruitment and onboarding journey. 

Skills and Responsibilities 

On-Boarding & Compliance

• Coordinate all aspects of the onboarding and compliance process and ensure that the processes are completed accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner, including: issuing contracts, pre-employment compliance checks, and keying new starters/setting up new starters on the onboarding system.
• Ensure the accurate entry and maintenance of data onto the relevant HR Systems/ spreadsheets, by employing robust quality assurance and due diligence measures.
• Be the subject matter expert for Access Recruit & Onboarding and Better Impact for the team, the candidates/onboardees and the wider organisation
• Monitor and maintain ongoing compliance requirements across staff files, including (but not limited to): Right to Work documentation (i.e. valid Visas and passports); Professional Registrations; Dr’s professional insurance, etc.
• Ensure that all aspects of DBS process are managed in accordance with policy/procedures
• Assist the Recruitment & Compliance Manager in preparing, analysing and producing relevant reports and statistics.
• Conduct audit checks on new starters, volunteer and temporary worker files and report back to team to ensure continuous improvement and accuracy of data collected.
• Coordinate and/or supervise a regular and continuous calendar of personnel file reviews and audits, to ensure and maintain regulatory compliance, and where relevant escalate non- compliance issues to the Compliance Partner and/or the Recruitment & Compliance Manager.
• Assist in the coordination and delivery of an annual audit of CQC and Ofsted standards, across relevant business areas, e.g. The Children’s Trust School.
• Proactively maintain an up-to-date knowledge of our associated regulatory requirements, highlighting any updates and subsequent implications as soon as reasonably practical.
• Impart expertise and knowledge by delivering training sessions for new starters on compliance processes.
• In collaboration with the Organisation Development Team ensure the delivery of a seamless and engaging On-boarding and Induction experience for new staff and volunteers.

Recruitment & Selection

• Be responsible for the recruitment, on-boarding and compliance process for all types of permanent employees, Bank employees, temporary workers and volunteers. 
• Maintain the administration of recruitment and onboarding records, ensuring that these are complete and accurate
• Ensure all recruitment activities and the candidate life-cycle are underpinned by our Promises, whilst adhering to current employment legislation including Disclosure & Barring Service, Care Quality Commission, Ofsted, KCSIE and all policies and procedures
• Maintain an up-to-date list of vacancies, and ensure that all vacancies are advertised internally and/ or externally, in a timely manner.
• Support the Recruitment Team in the review and implementation of new and progressive recruitment initiatives, e.g. Employee Referral Scheme; Graduate Programmes; Apprenticeships; and overseas recruitment, with a view to increase the diversity and skill set of our workforce, across the organisation.

People Team Support

• Where required, contribute to the collation of relevant recruitment and compliance data, ensuring that these are complete and accurate, in order to support the preparation, analysis and production of relevant service reports, e.g. recruitment KPIs, time to hire (on-boarding KPIs), SCR school reports, right to work/visa reporting.
• Build strong internal and external relationships and provide a first class, added value service, to all staff and external partners/ customers.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to play a central role in the delivery of Surviving Economic Abuse’s new digital engagement strategy by producing high-quality, impactful communications and compelling campaigns to extend our reach and to engage, inform and mobilise our audiences.

You will be responsible for managing and growing our digital presence across social media and ensuring this translates into action through our website and newsletters. This will include creating content tailored to victim-survivors and their family and friends, financial services professionals, policymakers, funders and other stakeholders.

As part of this role, you will help us develop and deliver digital campaigns that amplify our campaigning and policy work, as well as deliver communications to support our fundraising, consultancy and training.

About you

We’re looking for someone with proven experience running social media for a brand, organisation or campaign, with demonstrable results such as audience growth, reach, engagement or conversion. You’ll understand how campaigning and activism work, and how to mobilise supporters from diverse backgrounds to help drive meaningful change.

You’ll be a confident digital campaigner who knows how to make an impact across multiple platforms, especially Instagram, TikTok and other video first channels. You’ll have a strong understanding of trends, formats and algorithms, and know how to use them to create scroll stopping content that motivates people to take action.
