As our Data Protection Manager, you’ll be the go-to expert for all things data protection. You’ll lead our compliance efforts, advise teams across the organisation, and ensure we meet our legal obligations with confidence and care.

Reporting to the Head of Governance, Risk & Compliance, you’ll work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers, and external stakeholders to embed best practice and foster a culture of privacy and accountability.

​What you’ll do 

Act as Samaritans’ appointed Data Protection Officer, offering support and advice across the organisation

Lead on data protection compliance, including incident management and Subject Access Requests (SARs)

Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and training that support a privacy-first culture

Monitor and manage data protection risks, controls and compliance

Oversee Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs), and third-party due diligence

Monitor and respond to queries in our data protection inbox

Serve as the main contact for privacy queries and liaison with the Information Commissioner’s Office

Over the last five years we have increased the number of individuals and organisation supporting the charity from 800 to more than 3,500 a year. The charity is set to build on this success and aims to continue this growth, so that we can reach more patients and provide additional support at a time when it is more critical than ever for kidney patients.

The Corporate Partnership Manager will play a key role in this growth. Our Corporate Partnership income has grown from zero in 2020 to c£2.3 million in 2025. It is a very exciting time to be joining the charity and our Fundraising team.

Primarily, you will be responsible for building engagement and driving new income via charity of the year partnerships, corporate partnerships, and employee fundraising. You will manage the Corporate Partnership Officer who is developing a growing portfolio of supporters across different sectors. You will also work closely with the Events Manager, Trust & Foundation Manager, Head of Fundraising and Director of Fundraising, Marketing & Communications as well as the wider Fundraising team to promote and support all opportunities to drive corporate income growth.

Alongside the Director of Fundraising, Marketing & Communications who takes a special interest in the charity’s Corporate Partnerships, you will be tasked with planning, implementing, and delivering the activities, programmes and processes required to grow corporate income from c£2.3m in 2025 to even greater levels over the coming years.

You will do this by stewarding the significant number of existing relationships and partnerships we already hold and maximising any opportunities that exist via our current partnerships and relationships. A key part of this role will require you to develop new opportunities and secure significant income (5-and-6 figure partnerships) through proactive engagement to and through our supporters, beneficiaries, networks, and contacts.

The right candidate will have a proven record of generating strategic partnerships that result in 5-and 6-figure corporate income, building strong and rewarding relationships, with stewardships skills that generate long term support for the charity. You will be a driven and enthusiastic fundraiser with experience of cultivating new relationships across a range of businesses and sectors.

The role will adapt and develop with the individual and offers huge potential for personal and career development.

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, the postholder will work closely with colleagues across the Income Generation and Marketing teams to deliver on a positive donor/ supporter experience with the aim of retention of current supporters for the long-term as well as acquisition of new donors, maximising the potential of all of our supporters. Overview

The Campaigns and Alumni Relations Office (CAR) at the University of Sheffield is dedicated to inspiring alumni (former students) to make philanthropic gifts, as well as giving their time and expertise. A donation to the University of Sheffield can change lives, from supporting students in financial need to furthering world-leading research.

As part of CAR, the Individual Giving team encourages people to make gifts of up to £10,000 using a data-driven approach and a range of communication channels. We’re looking for a skilful communicator and project manager to join us.

The Individual Giving Manager will deliver a multi-channel fundraising strategy to encourage people to give at ‘mid-value’ level (£1,000-£10,000 each year) through direct mail and digital fundraising You’ll also support the wider team by project managing mass fundraising appeals that solicit gifts of all sizes by direct mail and email.

You’ll also be responsible for producing stewardship communications, including reports, that thank donors giving over £1,000.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Deliver a multi-channel fundraising strategy to encourage people to give at ‘mid-value’ level (£1,000-£10,000 each year) through direct mail and digital fundraising.
• Manage and build an active portfolio of individuals capable of making mid-value gifts, engaging this group with tailored communications.
• Make direct asks for donations to priority projects at the University. Current appeals include student scholarships, student hardship funds and medical research.
• Project manage direct response fundraising appeals that ask for gifts at all levels (including cash gifts under £1,000 and regular gifts by direct debit) and ensure appeals deliver a strong return on investment.
• Across all fundraising activities, manage relationships with external and internal agencies and internal teams that support your work. Develop clear project plans and briefs, as well as ensuring projects are delivered on time and to budget.
• Deliver against individual and shared fundraising targets to help the Individual Giving team raise up to £1 million ‘cash in’ per year.

Job Description

This is an exciting and varied role, and we are looking for a proactive post holder who will manage three key aspects of CARA’s service provision:

- Manage new referrals into our service, overseeing the work of our team of First Contact Navigators and our Information and Referrals Co-ordinator.

- Manage our counselling waiting lists and the allocation of clients to a counsellor, overseeing the work of our Allocations Team.

- Act as the main lead and point of contact for managing CARA’s client database and resolving any data queries.

This role will lead a talented and committed team of six, supporting their work and assisting them to develop their key roles. As well as overseeing day-to-day operations of the team, the post holder will be part of CARA’s management team and will have the opportunity to play a key role in CARA’s wider development, working closely with CARA’s Senior Leadership Team and Team Managers.

The First Contact Navigator project is a shared project with our sister centres, SERICC and SOS Rape Crisis, so the post holder will liaise closely with colleagues in those centres.

Main Responsibilities

Line management and team support

· To line manage CARA’s Information and Referrals Co-ordinator, First Contact Navigators and Allocations Co-ordinators, providing day-to-day support, monitoring performance and identifying training and development needs.
