Job description

As part of an exciting new strategic plan to grow over the next few years, The Children’s Literacy Charity is recruiting for a  Programme Delivery Manager role, co-ordinating the work of our expert tutors and supporting the School Programme Managers.

Hours: 3 days a week

Salary: circa £32K but negotiable for the right candidate

The Role:

The Children’s Literacy Charity (CLC) is a London-based charity which provides life changing literacy interventions for disadvantaged children, aiming to close the literacy gap for those primary school pupils who are the furthest behind in their literacy skills.

We believe our work is transformational and have a small but highly skilled tutor team who are dedicated to closing the literacy gap and broadening horizons for the children who need the most help.

The new Programme Delivery Manager who will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our work in schools, supporting the School Programme Managers (SPMs) and Literacy Tutors.

The charity employs and trains its own highly skilled tutors and we work in primary schools across London, and one in Manchester, delivering our one-to-one and one-to-three expert literacy intervention in our dedicated Literacy Lab spaces.

The Programme Delivery Manager will be responsible for managing the monitoring and implementation of quality standards and safeguarding; overseeing the ongoing assessment of programme delivery and termly/annual reviews; working with and supporting the SPMs in day-to-day school relationships, dealing effectively with issues as they arise; central management of the tutor group, including recruitment; support for the adaptation/evolution of CLC interventions, both in schools and in the community as necessary and providing Head Office support to the freelance trainers who deliver our Reader Leader programme and any internal professional development for tutors as well as external training for partners.

Requirements:

Candidates should be educated to degree level or equivalent and ideally have qualified teacher status.  Experience of working in the education sector together with specialist literacy knowledge is essential together with experience of working with disadvantaged/hard to reach children.  SEND experience and SpLD qualification or experience is desirable.

The successful candidate will have strong, up to date knowledge of the literacy curriculum, literacy interventions and a sound understanding of assessment protocols with the ability to analyse and interpret data effectively. Effective planning, organisational, interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

In particular, we are looking for a candidate who will tackle issues positively, creatively and constructively.  They should possess strong listening skills; be flexible and adaptable; able to build relationships and be a supportive and collaborative team player.
