For over a century we've been helping former service personnel deal with issues like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression. We're pleased to be recruiting for a new role at Combat Stress - Senior Volunteer and Community Fundraising Officer - to help strengthen and develop our relationships with community fundraisers and volunteers across the UK.
Sitting within the Volunteer and Community Fundraising team, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of community-led fundraising activities and support the implementation of our national volunteer programme.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver and support a portfolio of community fundraising events and initiatives
- Build strong relationships with individual fundraisers, schools, and community groups
- Assist with the development and coordination of our volunteer programme, including the use of our new Volunteer Management System
- Provide excellent stewardship to ensure our fundraisers and volunteers feel supported, valued, and inspired

The opportunity.....
You will play a pivotal role in growing income across the Hospice and leading new, relationship-based approaches to fundraising.
With responsibility for Major Donors, Trusts and Foundations, and Regular and Mid-Value Giving you will create and lead a new strategy to develop these areas and manage and grow a portfolio of high-value relationships.
You will also work hand in hand with Hospice colleagues to identify and curate exciting fundraising propositions, helping to raise strategic funds for our services.
As a leader in the fundraising team, you will provide coaching and management to your team and deputise for the Director Fundraising.
You will be central in forming close working relationships across the Hospice and with the Board of Trustees, enabling a whole hospice approach to fundraising.
The must haves:
- Fundraising Success: At least six years’ experience operating in a Major Gifts or Trusts and Foundations role and a track record of personally securing and stewarding five and six figure gifts
- Strategic thinker: Experience of researching, developing and implementing new strategies, and associated budgets and KPIs, and of developing portfolios, and prospect management tools
- Leading and inspiring: At least four years’ experience of inspiring, managing and developing 1+ line reports
- Proposition development: Creative in outlook and with experience of developing donor-centric fundraising propositions

The Media team strategically leads on both proactive and reactive media, supporting WaterAid’s fundraising, partnerships, brand awareness and political influencing & systems change strategic priorities. The Celebrity Ambassador function sits within the team but line management of the Celebrity & Influencer Lead is with the Global & UK Director of Communications.

- Excellent news sense and an understanding of what makes a good story for different types of media and audiences.
- Understanding of the role that media can play in shaping the political and public policy agenda, and experience of working in this critically important area.
- Strong understanding of international development communications, marketing, fundraising and advocacy activities and how media activity fits with these and can complement and advance them.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to build partnerships with key stakeholders and influence at senior levels.
- Strong relationship builder and experience of working to deliver to multiple teams’ objectives; ability to prioritise and drive integration and alignment between activities

About the Role
We are seeking a diligent and faithful Finance Reporting Manager to join our team in stewarding the financial resources of the organisation. This role plays a key part in supporting the Head of Finance in ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and wise resource management in line with our Christian values and mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide full support to the Head of Finance, especially in the preparation of year-end annual statutory accounts for the College and Trading Company including the audit.
- Assist in producing monthly management accounts for the College and Trading Company.
- Support the preparation of the annual financial data return as required by the Office for Students.
- Supervise the management of cash flow to ensure financial sustainability and accountability.
- Assist with statutory and regulatory compliance, including Charity Commission annual returns, Corporation Tax, and ONS returns.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes across all courses, ensuring each has a minimum viable number for financial planning.
- Produce detailed product-level profit and loss statements for all courses.
- Prepare financial reports for specific projects and funds, including fund accounting and pricing of courses.
- Provide accurate and timely reporting on cashflows, budgets, and forecasts.
- Contribute to regulatory and management reporting requirements.
- Regularly review budgets against actuals and update forecasts in collaboration with budget holders.
- Reconcile service contracts such as catering to ensure appropriate use of funds.
- Oversee the ledgers and follow up on debtor balances as necessary, ensuring good stewardship of resources.
- Proactive in continuous improvements across the finance function.
- Provide support and coaching to the Finance Assistant, encouraging their growth and development.
- Offer flexible support across the finance team, including assisting with payroll and VAT returns as needed.
- Provide cover for the Head of Finance when required.

Person Specification
