The British Academy – the UK’s national body for the humanities and social sciences - is seeking a Regional Manager to join our friendly and collaborative team in the Research Directorate, providing key support in the delivery of the Early Career Researcher Network.

The ECRN Regional Manager will work closely with the Head of ECRN to oversee the day-to-day operations and logistics of the Network. This includes line management of three Regional Coordinators, as well as supporting budget oversight and financial management across all regional activities.

You will contribute to the development and implementation of efficient working systems, policies, and processes, and collaborate with the Head of ECRN to identify and resolve operational challenges as they arise.

A core responsibility of the role is to lead on the delivery and coordination of ECRN activities. This includes line managing three Regional Coordinators; overseeing and supporting regional clusters; processing invoices and monitoring budgets; preparing reports and updates for internal and external audiences; identifying growth opportunities for the Network; liaising with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate for this role, will bring strong project management skills, financial and budget oversight experience, and a background in line management within an office or organisational setting. Strategic thinking, proactivity, and resilience are essential, alongside the ability to prioritise effectively and solve problems in dynamic environments.

You will be an excellent communicator, capable of building collaborative relationships with colleagues across the British Academy and beyond, including external facilitators, partners, and stakeholders. Your keen attention to detail, inclusive mindset, and commitment to team-oriented working will be central to maintaining the quality, coherence, and impact of programme delivery. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Implementation (Online & Offline)

• Key operational lead, deputising for the Head of Individual Giving and Legacies, taking responsibility for the planning and delivery of campaigns and activity across channels and supporter journeys.

• Fundraising Expertise: Proven experience in an Individual Giving role(s) with a track record of managing both digital acquisition and offline appeals (direct mail/telemarketing) for a charity or social cause, as well as significant experience in retention, marketing communications, supporter services.

Role outline and purpose

The Head of External Relations leads strategic engagement and influencing activities to ensure hunger and hardship remain a priority for key external audiences, to build the breadth and depth of support needed to help end the need for food banks.  This role engages and influences target stakeholders in government, business, civil society and faith communities to prioritise hunger and hardship in their decisions and actions.

This role is part of Trussell’s Prioritising Hunger and Hardship programme, the goal of which is to keep hunger and hardship at the forefront of conversations and decision making – both amongst the public and key individuals and organisations relevant to our cause.  This role is focused on the successful delivery of the overall programme outcomes, contributing to the fulfilment of our long-term vision of a UK without the need for food banks.

Role responsibilities

· Leading the organisation’s external influencing strategy to shape key conversations, decisions, and activities among target audiences to ensure hunger and hardship remain a national priority.  Working closely with colleagues across the organisation focused on influencing and advocacy with relevant stakeholders (e.g. policymakers, advice sector, local authorities).

· Develop and maintain high-impact senior relationships with key parliamentarians, civil servants, faith leaders, youth organisations, the wider charitable food sector and other partners to build strategic support and unlock change.

· Oversee targeted engagement programmes that deepen collaboration with, and activate, key stakeholders and organisations to build and amplify the long-term wide-ranging support needed to end the need for food banks – including youth and wider civil society organisations, charitable food providers and faith communities.

· Shape and support coalitions that align around shared priorities, build a unified narrative, and strengthen the collective voice of organisations working to support people facing hunger and hardship.

· Act as an external spokesperson representing the organisation in media, at external events and high-level meetings and through written commentary.

· Provide team leadership, direction, support and line management.  This will include regular 1:1s and reviews to ensure object and targets are met.

We are seeking an experienced, driven and passionate Head of Philanthropy to lead on delivering income from our High Value (HV) audiences and income streams. We are looking for someone with energy and ambition, who can demonstrate strategic leadership to maximise fundraising opportunities across Major Giving, Trusts and Foundations, Special Events and Corporate Partnerships. The post holder will be a key part of the Fundraising Leadership Team, helping to grow our supporter networks, optimise supporter experience and contributing to the development of the overall fundraising growth strategy, at this crucial stage as we complete the current cycle and move into our new 5-year strategy period in 2027.

Leukaemia UK and You 

In 2025 we invested in growing our fundraising team so that we could fund more life-changing research, to increase our understanding of leukemia as a disease, and accelerate the development of kinder, more effective treatments. This included investment to grow the Philanthropy fundraising team, develop new fundraising products, increase our supporter networks, and build a stronger pipeline. As a result, we have seen significant year-on-year growth for a charity of our size and are keen to maintain this trajectory with the opportunities in front of us.

We are in the final year of our current 5-year organisational strategy cycle and in the process of developing our new 5-year fundraising strategy, so you will be instrumental in bridging the gap, delivering against agreed income targets for 2026 and driving forward new plans into 2027. 

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising, the post holder will at times be required to work both strategically and operationally, autonomously and collaboratively, as a critical member of the Fundraising Leadership Team.  You will be results-driven with an appetite to innovate and drive continuous improvement, leading to increased conversions, deepened relationships, and long-term high value support to upscale our research programme.

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience of being a Head of Philanthropy, demonstrating strategic leadership with a remit that includes oversight of a broad High Value fundraising portfolio, across multiple income streams.
• Experience of applying the principles of Philanthropy fundraising to develop and nurture a growing pipeline of 5- and 6-figure gift opportunities for supporters able to give at the highest levels.

The Head of Programme Operations leads the development, implementation and continuous improvement of WaterAid’s international programme operations framework. The role provides strategic and operational leadership across programme operations, business management, systems, risk and compliance.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and it’s harming too many lives. At Prostate Cancer UK, one of our top priorities is funding research that leads to real change. It’s vital we do our best to make sure this research makes a meaningful difference to men’s lives, and that’s where you come in. 

We’re at an exciting time, with a new strategy coming soon, and so we are looking to grow our Research Funding Team. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Grant Manager to help us deliver our core funding schemes and embark on new, exciting initiatives to fund ground-breaking research that will revolutionise how prostate cancer is diagnosed and treated. 

You’ll take responsibility for a portfolio of around a third of our active research grants, providing support and guidance to the researchers leading them. You’ll be a main point of contact for grant applicants, supporting them through the application process and providing them with guidance about remit and eligibility. Using your understanding of research funding and administration, you’ll work with our Senior Research Officers to make sure our funding schemes run smoothly, to time and support our funding Committees in their review of the applications we receive. 

What the job involves

It’s crucial that we not only have fair and robust processes to ensure that we fund the very best research, but that we also closely monitor and support the delivery of the resulting projects, to maximise their impact and accelerate the advancements we see through research. Which is why we’re looking to appoint an experienced Grant Manager to join our Research Directorate.

As part of your responsibilities, you’ll manage a portfolio of our active research grants, closely monitoring their progress and finances, and provide valuable support and advice to our grant holders and their teams. You’ll develop a detailed understanding of the science behind these projects and build positive working relationships with the researchers and their institutions. You’ll monitor your portfolio for demonstrable outputs (publications, presentations, intellectual property etc.) and you’ll work closely with colleagues in other teams to help them better understand the research we fund in order to showcase this to our supporters and potential donors.

You’ll support the delivery of our research funding grant schemes, managing at least one of our grant rounds, whilst also supporting our other funding schemes, ensuring that we maintain robust processes and adhere to industry and department standards. You’ll also help direct on our activities to involve people with experience of prostate cancer in research, including their involvement in the assessment of the research proposals we receive, as well as supporting researchers to include patients in the design and delivery of their projects.

About the team​

The Policy team is a small, collaborative and collegiate team looking to expand. We have a unique set-up, sitting separately to but working closely alongside the Communications team as part of the wider Public Affairs team. We influence key decision makers through direct engagement with senior officials, commissioning and sharing research and insight and supporting coalitions which include our portfolio charities to take their voice to decision makers to secure policy and funding commitments.

About this role

The Public Affairs Officer is a new and exciting role in a rapidly expanding organisation at the forefront of youth policy. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to support the strengthening of Impetus’ public affairs profile, as well as support colleagues to strengthen and maintain relationships with parliamentarians, decision-makers, sector stakeholders and wider civil society.

We are looking for someone who shares our commitment to getting the support young people from disadvantaged background need in education and employment. You’ll have a passion for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders across government and the third sector. You will have a good understanding of the UK’s policy environment with an interest in increasing your knowledge and relationships in this area and developing and expanding links with a range of parliamentary, government and other key stakeholders.

The Public Affairs Officer will be part of the wider Public Affairs Team. Though you will report to the Head of Youth Employment Policy, you will work across both our education and employment policy work, and will be expected to regularly collaborate with the Communications Team, and will understand the role of communications in shaping the political agenda and the public debate. You will have experience of writing for a wide range of audiences, ranging from policy briefings to social media content.

This role supports the delivery of high-quality public affairs work, following agreed plans, templates and processes, and escalating risks or issues promptly.

We’re interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong organisational skills, with experience of either leading or supporting the coordination and delivery of events. • Coordinate and deliver public affairs events, including logistics, invitations, materials, briefing packs, on-the-day support and post-event follow-up for meetings, party conference activities, evidence sessions, roundtables, report launches and all other relevant events
• Manage our CRM database (Salesforce), ensuring data quality, completeness and accuracy, and flagging issues when needed
• Support the Communications Team to maintain and grow the profile of our policy work with priority audiences, following agreed brand guidelines, templates and approval processes
• Undertake some desk-based research to support policy projects when required, ensuring accuracy and clarity in all research outputs
• Assist in developing campaign tools and published materials
• Draft policy briefings, summaries, papers, presentations, and social media content
• Brief and support senior staff within the relevant policy areas, such as to prepare for a speaking event, roundtable, or high-level stakeholder meeting
• Monitor political and parliamentary developments and flag relevant updates and opportunities for influencing public policy to senior team members
• Support internal team processes by monitoring an allocated set of information sources, providing content for the internal and external newsletters, ensuring information management systems are kept up to date and accurate (e.g. briefing pack, team calendar)

Person specification

​Essential​

• A strong commitment to improving outcomes for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, and an understanding of the barriers they face across education and employment
• Proven organisational skills and the ability to operate effectively in a busy office environment, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work across different projects simultaneously.
• Able to follow agreed processes, templates and guidance, maintaining accurate records and escalating issues early
• Strong written communication skills, including the ability to write copy for a range of audiences and formats based on complex content e.g. policy briefings, blogs, articles, website content and more, and willingness to seek feedback to improve clarity and impact
• Demonstrable record of building and maintaining effective working relationships across an organisation, working co-operatively as part of a team, welcomes feedback, and seeks clarification when tasks or priorities are unclear
• Strong IT Skills (Microsoft Office skills essential)
• Comfortable handling data, ensuring accuracy, and following data quality and confidentiality standards
• Interest in politics and UK public policy and enthusiasm for developing professional knowledge in this area

Desirable​
