Job Purpose

To manage the internal financial operational processes and reporting for the Federation, ensuring timeliness, accuracy and completeness. To provide financial support and advice to Head Office departments and schools, including the Federation Senior Leadership Team. To provide support to the Financial Controller and Director of Finance as required.

The Federation is going through an exciting period of change and this role represents an excellent opportunity to be part of driving improvements within a large organisation, as part of a compact and high-performing central finance function.

Main Areas of Responsibility

• Oversee all income processing for the schools and federation.
• Oversee all payroll processing for the schools and federation,
• Manage the BACS and manual payment process
• Review central processing for best practice.
• Oversee Balance sheet reconciliation for the schools and federation monthly
• Maintain the finance handbook and other published guidance
• Work with FC and Systems team to implement month end timetable
• Develop and implement a training for Finance Officer’s, Management Accountant’s and Accounts Payable team
• Work with the Financial Controller on producing and reviewing consolidated monthly accounts
• Work with partnership team to incorporate proposed adjustments to Month end and Year end accounts in line with the timetable.
• Prepare all consolidated submissions to the Department for Education
• Prepare year end papers and supporting schedules for head office activities
• Liaise with the Internal Audit team and External auditors
• Assist with various ESFA submissions and audits
• Oversea Reconciliation and review of monthly inter-academy recharges
• Review of monthly journals (e.g. prepayments, deferred income, academy recharges)
• Identify and evaluate opportunities for improving value for money
• Work closely with other departments and Hubs within the central federation such as procurement to ensure that we have clear and smooth processes between departments
• Ad hoc tasks as required by the DF and FC

ABOUT THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Compliance, Risk and Audit to join the wider Compliance, Audit and Risk team at SIG! You will have the overall responsibility of keeping participants, residents, and staff safe. The team manages the development, monitoring, and reporting of several areas including but not limited to accidents, incidents, and near misses (AINMs), safety reviews, safeguarding, whistleblowing, complaints, policy and procedure, health and safety, internal audit, business continuity planning and data protection.

As The Head of Compliance, Risk and Audit, you are the lynchpin of the wider team, linking strategic vision with solid and accountable implementation. You will be responsible for developing the team in the broad space of compliance as well as in their own areas of specialism, ensuring that a transparent and accountable compliance framework is implemented and embedded in line with regulatory and legislative change.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. At least 2 days per week in central office (Islington) and our services which are in and around London, Brighton & Hove, Kent, Havering, Bedford, Luton, Nottingham, and Liverpool.
The additional 3 days can be worked from home. You may at times be required to visit a service more than 2 times within a week.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Line Management and leadership throughout employee lifecycle this includes; Recruitment, Onboarding, Inductions, training, support and supervision, relations, wellbeing support, and other areas.
• Formalise Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) to monitor objectives.
• Provide both line management and professional consulting using best available forums and mechanisms, including meetings, support effective teamwork and communication. Facilitate a culture where constructive challenge is welcomed, and conflict is managed supportively in line with relevant policies and procedures.
• Deputise for the Director as required.

Safeguarding, Audit, and Compliance

• Oversee the compliance audits across departments and services, providing support, and follow up with operational teams on a regular basis.
• Oversee the Safeguarding infrastructure, deputising for the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) as necessary. Oversee complaints and other processes and develop these to ensure they are safe, fair, equitable, and fit for purpose.
• Support services with commissioner led quality assurance framework (QAF) inspections and those registered with the CQC to maintain their portfolios and ensure they are ready for inspection at any time to retain their registrations.
• Promote and support a positive whistleblowing culture, assist Champions, People and Culture, managers and the audit and compliance team on concerns raised and ensuring the whistleblower is protected.

Reporting and Analysis

• Attend and develop AINMs review meetings for maximum impact in terms of positive safety culture. Ensure the lessons learned from AINMs reviews, safety reviews, and safeguarding concerns are shared and feedback loops are closed.
• Review the collation and analysis of AINMs and Safeguarding alerts, developing the Audit and Compliance team, as well as other operational teams in reflection and root cause analysis

Data Protection

• Monitor the use of external data protection and compliance partners to ensure we maintain ICO requirements and maintain our Data Security Protection Toolkit Certification.
• Monitor and ensure integrity in document control, policy, and procedures as they are developed, reviewed, and published.
• Understand and support an Information Security infrastructure alongside additional teams in the organisation and support Managers and teams with training and challenges where necessary.

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience in complaints and incident handling, safeguarding, data protection, and audits
• Proven experience in governance systems and structures which can include auditing, risk management, investigations, complaint handling, policy, procedure, and report writing
• Experience and/or ability to coach, develop, and manage direct reports
• Background in health, social care, criminal justice, and/or supported housing systems
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, and ability to confidently use and utilise Microsoft programs

Main responsibilities will include:

Prospecting and research

• Research the funding market, tracking and identifying suitable high value tendering, commissioning and partnership opportunities and funding streams, in line with Artswork’s strategic plans, priorities, Fundraising and Social & Ethical Policies

• Conduct regular, timely reviews of published tenders and funding opportunities, in order to make recommendations to the Head of Business Development on which ones to pursue

• Establish a focused, qualified pipeline of prospective funders, investors, sponsors and donors Bid development

• Working to the strategic guidance of the Head of Business Development, prepare funding bids, tenders and sponsorship proposals, meeting funders' procurement and management requirements

• Develop realistic, costed delivery plans and budgets for proposals, working with the Head of Budgets, Contracts & Policy

• Lead the budget development process for bids, ensuring compliance with Artswork’s internal finance policies and funder requirements

• Coordinate the input of relevant stakeholders into the bid development process, ensuring they are aware of what is needed and by when, bringing everything together in a timely manner

• Effectively manage multiple funding deadlines to ensure no key opportunities are missed

• Establish an efficient and effective internal process to manage the bid lifecycle, including ensuring effective Go/No-Go decision-making processes are followed and that bid design achieves the right balance of price, risk management and design quality Stakeholder management

• Develop and implement a plan to secure ongoing relationships with grant givers, commissioners and sponsors, to retain their support into the future

• Coordinate the input of the Sales, Marketing and Communications team into proposal design

• Work with the Evaluation and Impact Manager to put in place monitoring and reporting arrangements in line with commissioner, sponsor or funder expectations Information management and compliance

• Establish robust systems for the efficient planning and tracking of pipeline and bid activity ensuring compliance with Data Protection, Artswork’s operational requirements and policies

Reprieve is a UK charity founded in 1999. Reprieve uses strategic interventions to end the use of the death penalty globally, and to end extreme human rights abuses carried out in the name of “counterterrorism” or “national security”.

 Reprieve works with the most disenfranchised people in society, as it is in their cases that human rights are most swiftly jettisoned and the rule of law is cast aside. About this role

The Digital Acquisition Officer is a key member of the Mass Engagement team and part of the wider Development team. The Mass Engagement team exists to raise awareness of Reprieve’s work, shift public opinion and to inspire support. Your role will be to engage members of the public, grow the Reprieve’s community and help establish our supporter base.

It is an exciting time for our team, as we launch their first mass engagement strategy to promote the long-term growth of the programme. Digital fundraising boomed between 2020 and 2021 but has faced challenges in 2022 and 2023. As we launch our new strategy, we are looking for a creative and enthusiastic individual, keen to try new things and learn through testing, excited about communicating Reprieve’s work to our supporters and inspiring them to donate.

You will be key to the acquisition of new supporters, leading on developing and managing lead generation across our platforms, building paid for and organic content, and developing new and innovative ways to engage supporters with the support of the Head of Digital and Mass Engagement.

As a small team we have a collaborative and “all hands on deck” approach, ready to step in and support each other. This means at times you will support on our retention and stewardship work, as well as helping the wider Development Team when needed.

You will share our commitment to fighting racism and advancing racial justice, as well as help craft comms that can take supporters with us on this work whilst ensuring we do this in a way that does not compound racist structures.

Contract, location and salary

This is a full-time, fixed term 18 month contract with the possibility of extension dependent on funding. The salary is £40,964 plus up to 5% employee matched pension contribution.

The Senior Income & Engagement Officer (Individuals) leads War on Want’s activities acquire, retain, and develop individual supporters using a range of channels both on and offline. The right candidate will be a seasoned campaign manager with experience across a range of channels like direct mail, email, and telemarketing. Their creative flair and understanding of what mobilises individual giving audiences will help them to develop compelling propositions for support. Their strategic mindset and data literacy will ensure they spot performance trends and optimise their campaigns over time.

As individual giving lead, the Senior Income & Engagement Officer will join War on Want at a very exciting time. We have recently launched a new supporter mobilisation strategy to bring transformative growth to our supporter base, both increasing participation with War on Want campaigns, and increasing the number of active War on Want members who support our work with regular monthly donations.

This position would suit an experienced fundraiser who’s looking to take ownership of an individual giving strategy. In doing so, they will oversee a significant proportion of War on Want’s income and engagement Programme and make a valued contribution in the fight against global poverty.

We are seeking a Psychometrician for two days per week to lead psychometric analyses and interpret the examination results of the Royal College of Pathologists.

The College is responsible for the delivery of pathology examinations for doctors, scientists, oral pathologists (dentists) and veterinary pathologists in 17 specialties – the Fellowship examinations of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath). The FRCPath Part 1 is held online and is a test of knowledge while FRCPath Part 2 is held in person around the UK as well as in the Republic of Ireland and, for histopathology, in international centres such as Dubai and Egypt. The College is regulated by the General Medical Council for the medical examinations and the General Dental Council for the Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology examinations, but the examinations are open to all appropriately qualified candidates.

The FRCPath examinations are held twice a year in Spring and Autumn and attracts approximately 1,200 candidates per session across the specialties. While some examinations attract up to 200 candidates, some examinations consistently attract very small numbers of candidates, with a number of examination cohorts sitting somewhere in between. The Psychometrician will advise on the appropriate data collection methods for the examinations and undertake psychometric analyses of appropriate examination data for each examination session and will, in time, be asked to provide analysis of longitudinal data.

As the College continues to develop its examinations, the Psychometrician will possess sufficient expertise to provide advice on the appropriate psychometric tests to undertake for the specialty examinations as different formats or methods of delivery are considered.

The examinations are delivered by an examinations team in the College which sits within the Learning Directorate. Each specialty examination is supported by an appropriately qualified panel, led by a Panel Chair, all of whom are overseen by the Clinical Director of Examinations (a pathologist). The Psychometrician will be expected to communicate with a wide range of individuals regarding the College examinations, with varying levels of knowledge about psychometrics, and will provide training for examiners and staff on a regular basis.

The College is a professional membership organisation dedicated to the advancement of the science and practice of pathology. There are currently approximately 12,000 members, all of whom are pathologists based in hospitals, universities and laboratories in the UK and overseas. The College’s main tasks are to set and maintain training standards for doctors and scientists, to advice on the appointment of consultant pathologists, to ensure the membership is kept up to date with current practice through the continuing professional development scheme, and to promote the latest developments in pathology by holding scientific meetings.

The College’s mission is to promote excellence in the practice of pathology and to be responsible for maintaining standards through training, assessments, examinations and professional development.
