As one of our Lead Bid Writers, you will work on the end-to-end bidding process, from identifying tender opportunities and submitting engaging and successful bids through to managing post-award activity. You will develop compelling, high-quality tender responses, ensuring that our submissions stand out.
You will have knowledge and experience in tender planning, writing winning bids, and diligently working to continuously improve the quality of submissions. If your experience is in social care, that’s great but not essential.
You will also need excellent writing and comprehension skills, the ability to work to demanding deadlines, and attention to detail while managing conflicting priorities.
This role is full-time and will work flexibly from our office in Thame or Leicester. You will need to be happy working on your own, but as working with others is an important part of the role, we are looking for someone who also enjoys working as part of a team.

The available role
As our new Head of Finance, you’ll be a key member of the Business Development Team - managing a small team and ensuring they deliver a high quality service. You will work closely with the Executive Team and Board of Trustees, ensuring they have a clear understanding of the hospice’s financial position.
You’ll be joining a values-led, CQC Outstanding rated hospice at a pivotal moment in our journey. Together, we are strengthening and evolving our services to meet changing needs across Wigan and Leigh, while staying rooted in our mission: to promote and provide outstanding care, specialist support and information for people experiencing and affected by life-limiting illness, dying, and bereavement.
As Head of Finance, you will lead the hospice’s budgeting process and audit process, as well as producing regular management accounts, forecasts, statutory returns and investments. You will work with managers from across the hospice to help them to better understand their own budgets and you will play a vital role in improving efficiencies and managing costs.
The role is available 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 4.30pm (Friday 4pm finish), on a salary of £55,690 - £62,682 per annum. A hybrid approach to work, with the option to work from home 1–2days per week, depending on the needs of the service.

- Lead on establishing and onboarding partnerships that enable joint working, service coordination, and referral pathways

About the Minster Centre
The Minster Centre is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee that provides training in psychotherapy and counselling and an affordable therapy service.
It was founded in 1978 as the first Integrative psychotherapy and counselling training in the UK and is a leading psychotherapy training institution. Role purpose
The Minster Centre is seeking to develop and further professionalise its operations and is recruiting to a new Head of Finance role. This is a part-time, flexible role for two days per week in the first instance. Some time in the office will be needed to work alongside other staff and key stakeholders – this can be managed flexibly alongside working from home. The role would therefore suit someone who wants to balance an interesting and senior role alongside other responsibilities or interests.
The Head of Finance will oversee the financial operations of the charity, owning and ensuring compliance to financial policies and procedures. You will provide strategic financial guidance to the Management Committee and contribute to the delivery of the charity’s financial strategies.
Early priorities will be:
- A review of existing financial policies and procedures to support the ongoing effective running of the charity.

About you
We are looking for an experienced leader who has overseen teams delivering services to groups of vulnerable clients, in either a Criminal Justice, supported housing, support, care or other relevant environment.
- You should demonstrate a track record of effective operational leadership and management of staff across dispersed locations, working through a line-management structure, including through a period of substantial change.
- Your business/service development experience will demonstrate your ability to successfully manage contractual requirements, negotiate for contracts for the provision of services (either as a supplier or purchaser) and to win new business.
- You will have a person centred approach, and a genuine interest in putting clients at the centre of your work.

Job description
Job Purpose
To manage and develop the home from hospital settle service in the hospitals that you are responsible for, to support timely and successful patient discharges from hospital and prevent re-admissions. You will work in collaboration with hospital teams and community teams to lead and manage your team to support the smooth transition from hospital to home for service users. The service works with people for time limited support (usually up to 6 weeks) to adjust and settle back in their homes, and to prevent readmission into hospital.
Key Tasks
- Work in partnership with the hospitals and other health and social care professionals to coordinate safe and timely discharges for referred clients. This involves attending meetings with hospital personnel including Discharge Co-ordinators and Ward Managers to discuss discharges and plan who and how individuals will be supported as appropriate.
- Manage a team working across two hospitals and ensuring the service is available between the contracted hours.
- Work collaboratively with other agencies providing support services.
- Conduct initial assessments of people referred to the services as necessary.
- Plan and develop person centred interventions to provide short term support for people after hospital discharge.
- Work with GPs as appropriate in identifying and supporting patients to reduce unnecessary hospital admissions.
- Work with people with a range of needs, dealing with issues ranging from social isolation and keeping people engaged in their community, to preventing unnecessary admission to hospital.
- Support the hospitals with delayed transfer of care (DTOC).
- Coordinate and monitor the caseload of referrals allocated to team members to ensure a fair and manageable distribution of work.
- Rota planning to ensure staff flexibility and availability, enabling planned rosters that best suit both hospital and patient needs.
- Develop your team which includes; supervision, appraisal, planning of continued professional development opportunities and training needs.
- Conduct regular management audits to ensure a consistent way of working and identify development and training needs in the team or individual.
- Develop and deliver a flexible service that can respond to peaks and troughs in demand.
- Ensure the service is meeting key performance indicators, and identify any concerns e.g. demand for the service exceeding the levels in the contract and taking proactive action to address this.
- Monitor performance of the services against KPIs and produce reports to demonstrate performance.
- Deliver front-line services when needed, e.g. sickness or staff shortages. This is by exception rather than you regularly doing support work.
- Manage the budget, sign-off expenses, and ensure the project is delivered to budget, liaising with the Finance Department as necessary.
- Support the directorate with generating funding e.g. being actively involved in consultation of possible projects, providing activity data, opportunity spotting, and/or supporting the production of tenders.

Administration
- Lead on contract reporting, this includes quarterly annual and ad hoc reports
- Carry out annual customer service surveys.

The Role
The Head of Fundraising is a pivotal leadership role, reporting to the CEO and joining the SMT.
You would be responsible for developing, implementing and delivering income generation strategy.
As the sole dedicated income generation specialist, you will take a hands-on approach to all aspects of fundraising and business development, identifying opportunities, building partnerships, securing funding, and maximising income from a diverse range of sources.
The fundraising income is currently c£300,000 per year and they have ambition to grow this to £500,000 over the next three years to ensure that they can continue to be there for older people when they are in need.

The Candidate

Richard House helps children and their families in East London to lead as happy a life as possible when dealing with a life-limiting health condition. From the moment a child is diagnosed with a life-limiting, life-threatening or complex health condition everything changes. These changes affect the whole family, which is why Richard House feel it is vital not only to provide care to the child but to support the whole family. An exciting opportunity has risen for a versatile and driven Head of Fundraising.
