This full-time role is based at our office in central London a minimum of three days per week, with some flexible working. Blue Ventures is a marine conservation organization that puts people first. We support coastal fishers in remote and rural communities to rebuild fisheries, restore ocean life and build lasting pathways to prosperity. Our Technical Knowledge team oversees Blue Ventures’ technical pillars (Secure Rights, Community-Based Fisheries Management, Food Security and Financial Inclusion) and supports the use of data for decision making, providing tools, training, and guidance to partners and Blue Ventures’ staff around the world. This team integrates expertise and deep practical experience with pragmatism and a desire to enable others to deliver lasting change, by distilling global best practices and knowledge into usable tools, appropriate training, and responsive guidance and support. The team is also responsible for delivering peer learning exchanges and knowledge sharing events both online and face to face across the organisation in addition to overseeing technical publications.
We are currently recruiting for an exceptional individual to be part of this global team, leading a critical pillar of the strategy on Food Security. This individual will oversee the Food Security function, including the development, refinement, and roll out of tools and training to support partners around the world as they establish initiatives targeting fish production, availability and affordability, to promote nutrition, food security and financial returns of fishers through assessments of the nutritional value of key fisheries, sustainable fisheries management, waste reduction initiatives, and interventions that increase the economic and nutritional value, as well as durability, of fish catch. Background to the role
AUKEL recruited a new Chief Executive in April 2023, and a new chair in February 2024. In March 2024 we published an ambitious five year strategy which sets out how we want to increase the extent we meet the needs of older people in East London. We have a number of organisational transformation objectives which underpin the strategy; these are things we need to do to strengthen our foundations (following a period of rapid growth) and equip us to deliver safe effective services, at scale, across our footprint.
We are looking for someone to join our team to work with the Service Director to lead the transformation of our Hospital and Home services. These:
- Currently are provided at four hospitals broadly covering four boroughs: Homerton (Hackney), Newham (Newham), The Royal London (Tower Hamlets), Whipps Cross (Waltham Forest). And are staffed by 16 AUKEL employees – three co-ordinators, two project officers, 10 support workers, and an administrator.
- Homerton and The Royal London are jointly commissioned until end March 2029. Newham has been extended to the end of June 2026. Whipps Cross is due to be re-procured, with a short extension under consideration, we aim to jointly bid for this with our neighbouring AUKs.
- Assist vulnerable adults in getting home from hospital, carrying out safety checks in the home, give advice on practical and wellbeing matters, and visiting regularly for a period of four to six weeks after discharge
- Are commissioned based on meeting pre-agreed targets for the number of referrals accepted, and are fully embedded into the hospital discharge system.
- Typically include provision of handyperson services, which is operationally delivered separately by three handypeople.
- Include our (paid for) Home and Care service which is delivered separately to our hospital discharge services, and currently supports c. 40 individuals.

Job Purpose
The Head of Hospital and Home Services will work with the Director on strategic and operational planning and provide operational leadership for the range of Hospital and Care services delivered by Age UK East London. This role is a fantastic opportunity to be part of significant organisational change, to make an impact at a local level, and ensure that older people’s needs are recognised and met effectively. The purpose of this role is to:
· Take responsibility for the delivery of the Hospital and Home service, ensuring its delivery requirements are met and we are responsive to new opportunities.
· Manage and maintain good relationships with commissioners and professionals in the local health and social care system.
· Lead a programme of structural and cultural change in the Hospital and Home service:
- Review the service staffing and delivery arrangements, assessing which services need allocated staff and which would be better delivered by a central team.
- Introduce processes and embed good practice in case recording, reporting and data collection.
- Motivate and engage a dispersed workforce, developing a supportive and flexible culture with consistent service standards.
- Ensure that older people who are supported by the Hospital and Home team also benefit from the range of AUKEL services and those provided by other local partners.
· Ensure the hospital discharge service, the handyperson service and the home and care (paid for service) work together efficiently and effectively.
· Address performance issues in the Home and Care (paid for service), working with senior colleagues (in communications, finance and HR) to develop a financially sustainable model.

As the role develops or AUKEL begins delivering new services, the scope of the role may expand. The post holder will need to:

Employment Details
Contract type
This contracted post is for 35 hours per week. We welcome application for flexible working including reduced hours and other flexible working arrangements.
Location
We support hybrid working to suit our team. When in the office, the post holder will be mostly based at our office in Plaistow with frequent visits to the 4 hospitals and to our Head office in Bethnal Green.
Salary
Between £41,200 and £46,350 Plus 5% employer pension contribution.
We have recently introduced a salary bands system. This salary range refers to the lowest and top steps of the grade. Salary will progress every year until the top salary is reached.
Holiday entitlement
25 days (pro-rata for contracted hours) of paid holiday per year plus bank holidays. This increases after two years of service to 27 days, and then a further one day per every year of service up to a maximum of 30 days after five years of service. In addition, all employees are entitled to one day off on (or around) their Birthday.

The Head of Programmes is a critical role for the organisation, responsible for ensuring DEC funded programmes meet programmatic standards, are fully traceable, routinely monitored and comply with organisational procedures and institutional donors’ requirements. Just a Drop works at a grassroots level with our country partners to support communities around the world with access to sustainable safe water solutions, sanitation facilities and knowledge of safe hygiene practices.
About the role
The Head of Programmes leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of all Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) projects within Just a Drop. This senior leadership role requires a visionary leader with strategic thinking, programme management expertise, and a deep commitment to improving WASH services in underserved communities. The ideal candidate will ensure that all programs are aligned with the organisation's mission, are sustainable, and have measurable impacts. The role is supported by a team of 3 staff and 11 volunteers with significant experience: hydrogeologists, engineers and WASH experts who give technical advice, and help with monitoring and partnership building.

Experience:
• Proven experience in a senior leadership role.
• Proven track record in designing, implementing, and evaluating complex WASH programmes in developing countries.
• Experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams across different locations.

Main purpose
This is a key role within Learning and Work Institute (L&W), responsible for delivering high-profile, impactful campaigns, research and development work, focused on lifelong learning and essential skills. The postholder will play a leading role in shaping and delivering our lifelong learning campaign.
The role will involve leading campaigns and programmes of research and development work aligned to ambitions in our strategic plan 2024-2029. This includes advocating for adult learning and making the case for wider entitlements to lifelong learning; making the case for essential skills, understanding patterns of learning participation to tackle persistent inequalities; and building the evidence base on engaging people in and delivering essential skills.
You will bring expertise in campaigning and/or applied research; a track record in developing and delivering impactful programmes of work; a good understanding of the policy context; experience in business development; and a passion for making an impact.
You will need to work collaboratively and enthusiastically as part of L&W’s leadership team of Heads and Directors, and role-model our values and behaviours.

Duties and responsibilities
Research and Development
- Design and lead campaigns, research and development (R&D) programmes and projects, particularly on lifelong learning and essential skills
- Identify and secure income to fund projects and campaigns, including through proactive approaches to funders and partners, and responding to tenders and calls for proposals
- Ensure that work is delivered to time and quality expectations, within budget, with appropriate measures of its impact, and with regular engagement with partners and funders
- Develop and maintain effective relationships and networks with key stakeholders
- Speak and present at external events as a representative of L&W
- Keep up to date with key developments in policy, research and practice
Organisational duties
- Manage researchers/project managers (line and project management) positively and proactively contribute to their personal and professional development
- Work collaboratively, leading with integrity and sharing the load, being willing to take on projects outside of programme if needed
- Play an active role in the organisation as a functional and strategic leader, as part of L&W’s R&D Heads and Leadership teams

Person specification
Essential
- Degree (in a relevant subject e.g. economics, other social science, statistics), equivalent qualifications or evidence of equivalent experience
- Proven track record in delivering complex and high-profile programmes of campaigns, research or development work, including managing and mobilising resources, and delivering to time and quality expectations within budget
- Understanding of current policy and practice in relation to learning and skills
- Strong understanding of campaigning and advocacy work, with the ability to design, develop and utilise appropriate methods and tools to make an impact on policy
- Strong understanding of quantitative and/or qualitative research methods, and how research evidence can be used to influence policy
- Proven track record in building strong relationships with government, delivery organisations, partners and funders
- Experience of developing and leading a high-performing team, including co-ordinating and managing projects and priorities, and supporting professional and personal development
- Ability to work under own initiative with a proactive approach to problem solving
- Knowledge of and commitment to L&W’s charitable aims and purpose
- Strong understanding of maximising organisational impact, through impact measures and framework
Desirable
- Successful experience of income generation, including developing funding proposals, developing relationships and bid writing

The postholder is responsible for the strategic leadership, development and management of all fundraising and commercial activity for Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT). The key areas of focus will be:
- Developing and implementing a fundraising strategy, to support CACT strategic objectives
- Leading a skilled multi-disciplinary team, including bid-writing, marketing and communications, to achieve agreed goals and added value
- Securing and profiling high-level individual donors/groups/companies, evidenced through robust and sustainable partnerships, which result in substantial financial returns to CACT
- Strengthening other approaches to fundraising, including regular giving and legacy donating
- Analysing CACT’s approach to bid-writing, with other senior leaders, re-purposing to maximise grant income and programme delivery aligned to our strategic priorities
- Achieving financial income targets, specifically meeting stretch unrestricted income targets
- Actively participating in strategic policy development at CACT, as a member of the Senior Management Team
