Role summary
As Head of Operations, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Ben Kinsella Trust has the strong operational foundations needed to maximise its impact and support continued growth. Reporting to the CEO and as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will provide strategic leadership across the charity's operations, governance, finance, HR and IT, ensuring the organisation operates efficiently, remains compliant and has the systems and infrastructure required to deliver its mission.
You will lead the development and continuous improvement of organisational systems, policies and processes, driving operational excellence and enabling colleagues to focus on delivering high-quality programmes, campaigns and services. Working closely with the CEO, Finance Manager, trustees and external partners, you will oversee governance, risk management, financial planning, people and culture, and digital infrastructure; ensuring the charity is well-managed, resilient and equipped for future growth.
We're looking for a proactive, organised and collaborative leader who enjoys improving how organisations work and can balance strategic thinking with practical delivery. Your leadership will help ensure the Ben Kinsella Trust remains a well-governed, financially sustainable and high-performing organisation, enabling us to honour Ben's legacy and prevent knife crime through education and campaigning.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of operational systems, processes and policies to ensure the charity operates efficiently, consistently and in line with best practice.
- Oversee organisational project management, ensuring strategic projects are effectively planned, monitored and delivered on time and within budget.
- Develop and maintain effective systems for organisational planning, reporting and information flow, ensuring senior leaders and trustees have access to timely and accurate information.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through process redesign, automation and the effective use of technology and digital systems.
- Provide operational leadership across the organisation, ensuring resources, systems and infrastructure effectively support programme delivery and organisational growth.
Governance
- Lead the charity's governance framework, ensuring compliance with Charity Commission requirements, statutory obligations and internal policies.
- Maintain the organisation's policy framework, ensuring policies are regularly reviewed, updated and effectively implemented across the charity.
- Lead organisational risk management, maintaining the risk register and supporting senior leaders and trustees to identify, monitor and mitigate strategic and operational risks.
- Ensure appropriate compliance with data protection, safeguarding, health and safety, insurance and other regulatory requirements.
Finance
- Lead the charity's financial management, working closely with the CEO and Finance Manager to develop budgets, forecasts and management accounts.
- Monitor organisational income and expenditure, providing financial analysis and recommendations to support effective decision-making.
- Oversee financial controls, procurement processes and delegated authorities, ensuring robust stewardship of the charity's resources.
- Support the preparation of statutory accounts, annual budgets, audits and financial reporting for the Board of Trustees and external stakeholders.
- Develop financial systems and reporting processes that improve visibility, accountability and organisational planning.
HR & IT
- Lead the development of the charity's people infrastructure, ensuring effective HR policies, systems and processes to support employee wellbeing, performance and compliance.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management and learning and development processes, working with managers to build a high-performing and inclusive culture.
- Ensure the charity's HR systems and employee records are maintained accurately and comply with employment legislation and GDPR requirements.
- Lead the organisation's IT strategy and digital infrastructure, ensuring staff have secure, reliable and effective technology to support their work.
- Oversee cyber security, business continuity, system procurement and relationships with external IT providers, driving continual improvement in digital capability.

About the role
The Head of Income Generation is a new and important leadership role within Stonewall Housing, created to grow and diversify our voluntary income and support the next stage of our development as a nationwide LGBTQ+ housing and homelessness charity.
Reporting to the Director of Development, you will lead the development and delivery of ambitious income generation plans, with a particular focus on significantly growing income from corporate giving and partnerships.
You will build on Stonewall Housing’s existing corporate relationships while identifying and securing new opportunities across the UK. The Line is East London's public art trail that connects Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and The O2, following the waterways and the line of the Greenwich Meridian. Our mission is to connect communities and inspire individuals through a dynamic outdoor exhibition programme where everyone can explore art, nature and heritage for free.
Locally rooted and internationally significant, The Line enables artists to connect with people and place in new ways. Recent installations include works by pioneering minimalist sculptor Rasheed Araeen, the first public artwork in the UK by artist Zineb Sedira, and a co-commission with the local community by Turner Prize-winning artist Helen Cammock.
The role
This role is suited to an experienced fundraiser with a strong track record of securing significant income, including six-figure gifts, within the charitable sector. Working closely with the Director and Board, the Head of Development will lead fundraising strategy, strengthen supporter relationships, and diversify income streams to support The Line's future growth and impact.
As a member of the Senior Management Team, you'll secure income from trusts and foundations, individual donors, corporate partners and other sources; build and manage relationships with funders and supporters; identify new opportunities for growth; and ensure excellent stewardship across all fundraising activities. You'll also line manage the Development Coordinator and oversee freelance fundraising support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and implementing The Line's fundraising strategy, delivering against agreed income targets and diversifying revenue streams
- Developing a robust pipeline of trusts, foundations, corporate partners and individual donors
- Translating organisational priorities into compelling funding proposals, cases for support and reports
- Building and stewarding relationships with funders, donors, patrons and corporate partners
- Setting and managing income targets, budgets and forecasts with the Director and Director of Finance
- Ensuring fundraising complies with relevant legislation and best practice
- Acting as an ambassador for The Line and its mission
What we're looking for
We're looking for an experienced fundraiser with proven success in generating significant income within the charitable sector, ideally in arts and culture. You'll have:
- Demonstrable experience securing six-figure funding through trusts and foundations, individual giving, public funding and corporate partnerships
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
- Strong understanding of the UK cultural funding landscape and fundraising best practice
- Experience using CRM systems and managing supporter data
- Financial literacy, with experience developing budgets and funding bids
- Commercial awareness and experience negotiating partnership agreements
- Knowledge of GDPR, fundraising regulation and compliance requirements
- Ability to motivate colleagues and drive results
Desirable: senior management experience, established fundraising networks and sector relationships, knowledge of tax-efficient giving, and experience managing donor programmes internationally.

Purpose of the Job
We are looking for the Head Chef to play a key role leading the team at Felix’s Kitchen to continue and grow on the success of the last four years of operations.
Felix’s Kitchen opened in 2021 and has grown its impact and output since then, to now be a one-of-a-kind kitchen producing 4.5-5 thousand ready meals 6 days a week made from surplus ingredients.
No two days will ever be the same, we work with surplus ingredients meaning each dish is unique and based on the incredible seasonal surplus ingredients we have received into out Poplar Depot based next to the kitchen. We have a core team of staff who run the operation but our work force in made up volunteers who support all aspects of our kitchen operations.
The new Head Chef will line manage the chef team of roughly 10 people and be working in our main production kitchen every day, leading the team from the front, setting the standards and organising the days production.
Whilst managing, planning and leading are the core of the role it is a hands-on role working in the kitchen to achieve the daily production targets, setting the standards and cooking new recipes each day.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead the Kitchen side of the operation on a day-to-day basis, setting the prep, packing and cooking schedules for the day(s) ahead
• Support the team from the front in delivering the days output objectives and problem solving across the kitchen operation
• Line Manage the Kitchen team, focussed on the daily management but also working on people and team management alongside the kitchen manager
• Work alongside the kitchen management team to ensure all H&S, Food Safety and HACCP standards are met & monitored effectively
• Participate in all external Health & Safety and Food Safety audits and carry out internal audits/checklist
• Be accountable for the creation of unique recipe and spec sheets every day and managing the team to do so
• Create and monitor the packing list for the packing team to produce the final meal products, ensuring accurate labelling and allergen information is given Monitorand control inbound food supplies, ensuring the ingredients are used effectively and safely
• Maintaining cleanliness standards throughout the kitchen and food storage areas
• Working alongside the kitchen manager on improving quality, quantity and consistency of Felix Meals
• Ensure the team can provide a hot lunch for the staff at Poplar each day from our surplus ingredients
• Working to support the volunteers in the kitchen, with hands on instructions and overall experience management.

Felix’s Kitchen is a truly unique operation; we are looking for someone with experience cooking in a large production operation however people skills, working style and personality are the most important part of this role.
Being able to adapt and plan on the go is essential, enjoying knowing that each day will require a tweak to the plan and approaching this in a posistive manner is key. Being excited by the joy and the challenge of working with surplus food, adapting recipes and plans with the team.
You will be working with a diverse team of staff and volunteers, being open to meeting new people everyday and supporting them with your experience and knowledge. Ensuring our standards are always met but the volunteer experience is enjoyable and productive.
