Anonymous Recruitment
Job description

This organisation supports anonymous recruitment. That means hiding your personal identifying information, removing bias from the hiring process.

You will lead a small team and be joining at a busy and challenging, but exciting time for Orione Care. Several long standing senior managers are retiring and with a new Executive Director in post since January 2022 there is strategic change and improvement in the pipeline as we continue to pivot from provision of residential care to a focus on social housing and supported living.

The new Head of Finance (HoF) will have the opportunity to make a real mark on Orione Care as they contribute to defining and implementing a new strategic plan that includes multiple property redevelopments and a desire to grow its income and services.

This will be a diverse role ranging from negotiating and supporting long term structured financial packages to delivering day-to-day financial processing for all aspects of social housing tenancy operation and small donations to the worldwide commitments of the Congregation.

The preparation of high quality group management accounts and cash flow forecasting are vital to enabling the Trustee Board to fulfil their duties. The HoF will be the lead contact for auditors and banks and for ensuring financial compliance with the Charity Commission and Companies House.

You will support the day to day spending and financial arrangements of the congregation in addition to the wider charities finances.

The HoF will also lead on all procurement processes, on matters relating to insurance and on overseeing payroll and pension arrangements.

The HoF will have oversight of the charity’s IT facilities, and a substantial part of the role will be about reviewing and updating systems, and streamlining processes as part of the charity’s current change programme to ensuring our financial service is future proof and fit for purpose.

The HoF will also:

  • Champion and support the mission and values of the charity
  • Draft reports that are factual and informative, plus accessible to trustees and other leaders from non-financial backgrounds.
  • Take part in occasional out of hours cover for emergencies
  • Deputise for the Executive Director in their absence
  • Undertake reasonable duties requested that are not explicitly defined within this job description.
  • Tackle complex financial situations
  • Support the senior leadership team in day to day operational running of the charity
  • Work with the Trustee Board to determine future strategy and take effective and informed decisions
  • Undertake reasonable additional duties
  • Support the congregation on day to day financial spend and costs
  • Lead on the organisations IT and insurance procurement and use
