The Public Affairs Lead at the Food Foundation provides expertise on building relationships with political stakeholders to deliver impact across all areas of our work aimed transforming food systems and shifting diets.

Job Purpose

The Public Affairs Lead sits within our Policy and Advocacy Team, working to build support for The Food Foundation’s work amongst Parliamentarians and to influence the government to help deliver policies that will transform the food system.  This is an exciting opportunity to join a small organisation delivering big impact on the political agenda around food. 

The Public Affairs Manager reports to our Head of Policy and Advocacy and will be responsible for planning and delivering our public affairs activity. You will spend considerable time meeting MPs and Peers in parliament and building relationships with their teams with a view to identifying potential new supporters and ensuring that The Food Foundation has a range of contacts that we can call on to support and amplify our policy asks and to raise issues when required. 

While this role is focused on political engagement, you will work closely with policy and research colleagues and with our communications team to share perspectives on which priorities it may be tactical to pursue at any given time and to understand what evidence is available to inform engagement.

You will also work closely with public affairs professionals in other organisations to deliver joint programmes of engagement work which leverage respective organisational strengths.

You will have excellent political instincts and a strong interest in policy developments, monitoring closely what is going on in Parliament and in Government, and keeping abreast of the latest developments in order to identify opportune moments to maximise political attention on the issues we work on and to galvanise support for policy change. 

You will work with our communications team to build compelling narratives targeted at different political stakeholders about the impacts of the food system on our diets, our health and our planet, and the need for evidence-based solutions.   In the current parliamentary term we expect a major focus of activity to be on securing a White Paper and then A Bill on food system change.

You will lead on developing and commissioning a range of briefing materials and reports for policy audiences and formulate responses on behalf of the organisation to policy development processes and Parliamentary inquiries.

You will think creatively about methods and opportunities for engagement in order to ensure that The Food Foundation’s messages and priorities are noticed and heard by policy-makers in a very crowded policy space, including by working closely with our events manager to deliver impactful parliamentary events.

You will bring a learning mindset to the role, assessing the impact of our policy engagement approaches in order to make continuous improvements.

The role will be a fulfilling blend of planning engagement campaigns, developing the materials and monitoring tools to enable delivery, and the practical task of developing personal relationships with key stakeholders.

A week in the job will look like: meeting with a Peer that is new to our work to brief them on evidence we have published and our current political priorities, completing a political stakeholder mapping exercise for a new campaign on sustainable diets to identify a shortlist of MPs to engage with, spending an afternoon in parliament to engage informally with passing MPs, pitching a new idea for a parliamentary inquiry to parliamentary staff from the Health and Social Care Committee, drafting an MP briefing for an upcoming debate on the Government’s obesity prevention priorities, reviewing next week’s parliamentary calendar to spot opportunities for engagement, attending a roundtable to share intelligence and discuss priorities for political party manifestos with other NGOs working on food issues, ringing round parliamentary offices to confirm attendance for an upcoming parliamentary reception, meeting with an MP that is closely involved with The Food Foundation’s work to refine messaging for an upcoming campaign.

The role

We’re seeking an Individual Giving and Legacy Officer to join our growing Individual Giving and Legacy team! 

This is a brand-new role, and you will have the chance to develop your knowledge across both areas of fundraising. In this role, you’ll deliver multi-channel campaigns that recruit supporters and you will develop our stewardship journeys, so supporters have a great experience.

This is an exciting time to join Pancreatic Cancer UK as we have an ambitious 5-year strategy to double our income and double survival rates, and this role is integral to that.

We’re working towards a world where everyone with pancreatic cancer lives long and well, but we can’t do it alone. In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

• Delivering legacy campaigns across email, print and social media to acquire new legacy supporters.
• Delivering individual giving campaigns across regular giving, in memory, lottery, cash and our online shop.
• Developing and optimising stewardship journeys across digital, print and phone.

We’re Fumble – a bold, creative, and nationally recognised charity on a mission to make digital sexual health information relevant, engaging, fun, and safe for young people aged 13–25. We're five years in, growing fast, and dreaming big for the future. 

We’ve established an exciting programme of digital content co-creation with young people, to support them to successfully manage their sexual health, relationships, and mental health in the digital age, and we’re looking for a brilliant new Programme Manager to head this up.

This is an exciting, rewarding, and hands-on role at the heart of our small Sheffield-based team. You’ll lead the design and delivery of our projects – from the first sparks of an idea all the way through to measuring impact and celebrating success. 

This role is Sheffield-based or hybrid.

The role details

• This is a permanent role at Fumble

• Normal working day at Fumble is 9am - 5:30pm, with a 1h unpaid lunch break (7.5h day)

• 4 days/week (0.8 FTE), Monday - Thursday

  • Exciting note! We’re planning to trial a 4-day working week as an organisation in the near future, once funding is secured.

  • What would this mean? Fumble is preparing to trial a 4 day working week, which would mean a 30h work week across Mon-Thurs, with staff pay and benefits (including holiday allowance) increasing from 0.8 FTE to 1.0 FTE for everyone.

• Has a creative eye and instinct for engaging, youth-led design

• Brings solid experience in managing freelancers and creative teams (we’re looking for CVs with at least 5+ years of relevant career experience)

• Is confident running charity projects end-to-end – including bid writing and fundraising, planning, people management, deadlines, budgets, and reporting

• Tools you will ideally be confident using include: Google Analytics, Data Studio, Wordpress, a CRM, Meta Business Suite, Mailchimp, and Google Drive, including especially Google Sheets.

Key deliverables expected from this role

Here are some of the key deliverables expected from the role in the first 12 months.

1. Programme delivery - youth engagement

• Expand our recent successful pilot project: ‘Healthy relationships for young women and girls’. 

This will include:

• In person delivery, in Sheffield.

• Project planning, session planning, promotion campaign to reach potential participants, facilitation of sessions and/or managing freelance facilitators, impact measurement, reporting.

• Deliver our annual cycle of engaging our Youth Advisory Board (remote, online delivery). This will include:

  • Planning and facilitating sessions via Zoom (supported by our Social Media & Comms Officer); impact measurement and reporting; safeguarding and managing the engagement and retention of members. 

2. Programme delivery - digital content and campaigns

• Delivery of our planned ‘Sexual health Q&As between young people & doctors’ campaign. This will include:

  • A series of video content, co-created with young people, for a social media campaign and series of associated website articles on the Fumble website. 

3. Supporting our safeguarding

• Supporting safeguarding at Fumble, as our Designated Safeguarding Officer. You’ll bring previous experience of effective safeguarding to help us build on our policy and practice. 

• This will include:

  • Conduct / manage annual safeguarding training for Fumble team & stakeholder groups

  • Maintain DBS checks

  • Communicate with external safeguarding agencies & expert advisors (where relevant)

  • Ensure safeguarding info is visible on the website and in sessions, and 

  • Ensure safeguarding continues to be embedded in a meaningful way across all of Fumble’s activities. 

4. Impact measurement

• Participate in the team’s development of our recently introduced impact measurement framework

• Design any additional tools needed for evaluating youth sessions, campaigns, and content.

• Collect quantitative and qualitative data (e.g. surveys, feedback forms, analytics).

• Report on outcomes and impact.

• Engage young people in co-evaluation methods where possible.

5. Supporting our fundraising 

• Participate in the team’s collective fundraising efforts. This includes:

  • identifying funding opportunities for Fumble, writing and reviewing bids, and writing reports for funders.

We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Charity Support Officer to help deliver AWN’s mission. You will be the first point of contact for grassroots charities, supporting them to strengthen their organisations and improve their chances of securing grant funding by offering practical guidance, signposting, and building trusted relationships that help them grow in confidence and resilience. The role includes helping organisations strengthen governance and compliance, sharing information on grant-funding opportunities, and supporting them to identify challenges and develop practical solutions.
 
The non-profits you will support work across a wide range of areas for example: women, health and wellbeing, youth, homelessness and poverty, family services, sports, faith groups, crime and gangs, prisoners and ex-offenders, refugees and asylum seekers, drug addiction, older people and rehabilitation, and many more. 
 
Bringing a strong awareness of the barriers facing small charities particularly Muslim-led groups, will be key to helping them build long-term sustainability and impact. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the first point of contact for charities and community groups, managing a varied caseload and balancing priorities. 

• Carry out needs assessments to understand organisations strengths, challenges, and funding needs, and develop clear action plans. 

• Provide tailored support, including health checks on governance, compliance, finances, and funding readiness, offering recommendations and signposting to specialist services (e.g., Cranfield Trust, CVS, Charity Excellence etc). 

• Advise on funding opportunities, strategy, and application readiness, with referrals to bid-writing support where needed. 

• Deliver workshops, webinars, events, and one-to-one sessions to build skills, knowledge, and confidence of UK grassroots organisations.

Job Description:

We are looking for a highly organised and motivated individual to deliver peatland restoration projects at RSPB Forsinard Flows Nature Reserve. Our work programme consists of delivering both future open hill and forest-to-bog peatland restoration projects, as well as assuring that we meet our monitoring and maintenance commitments of previous Peatland Action and Peatland Code projects.

Based at the RSPB Forsinard Flows Field Centre, you will plan and deliver, peatland restoration projects, helping the Project Manager and Forsinard peatland restoration team, achieve the outputs and objectives of the wider RSPB Scotland Peatland Programme.

The successful candidate will be someone who can adapt to a complex work programme, thrive with a mix of desk and field-based activities, and who will relish the challenge of delivering truly landscape scale habitat restoration.

Essentials skills, knowledge & experience:

• Qualification in a relevant subject or ability to show equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of peatland habitat and function sufficient to enable identification of suitable restoration/management techniques.
• Proven time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work to deadlines and adapt to changing circumstances.
• Ability to work effectively as a team player both internally and externally.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to justify and report on peatland restoration projects.
• High level of IT skills for project and data management, including mapping software e.g., ArcGIS.
• Experience of health and safety compliance.
• A full, manual driving licence that is valid in the UK is required due to the remote nature of the sites (4x4 training will be provided).
• A drive to work outdoors in a remote and challenging environment.

Desirable skills, knowledge & experience:

• Knowledge of delivering peatland restoration projects and restoration toolkits.
• Knowledge of funding mechanisms for peatland restoration.
• Specialist conservation knowledge and experience in upland conservation.

Are you a strategic leader with a passion for building lasting relationships with supporters? We're looking for a Head of Individual Giving to join our amazing Fundraising team.

It's an exciting time to join the fundraising team at Prostate Cancer UK as we deliver on a new strategy. We've seen an upward trend in our fundraising income over the last decade and we're anticipating further growth in the next five years. We're introducing new roles to transform how we work and intentionally integrate our individual giving with our work across fundraising, brand and health awareness. You'll play a vital role within our successful mass fundraising function, helping us strengthen our propositions to acquire new supporters and secure long-term support.

In this key role, you'll be at the forefront of developing and delivering our individual giving strategy. You'll lead on the acquisition of new supporters and work to diversify our channels based on supporter insights. A crucial part of your work will be to create and deliver engaging supporter journeys across all touchpoints, ensuring our donors are at the heart of everything we do.

You'll oversee our legacy marketing program and review our legacy stewardship, strengthening long-term relationships with people who intend to leave a gift in their will. Working with both internal teams and external agencies, you'll develop and deliver high-quality, compelling propositions.

As a leader, you'll provide guidance and support for the Individual Giving team, helping to deliver our ambitious fundraising strategy. You'll also be responsible for business planning, forecasting, and monitoring income and expenditure to ensure sustainable growth. You’ll have experience of managing risk and navigating challenging situations, like how to develop supporters beyond being a one-off donor. You’ll bring a reliable voice as the subject matter expert for individual giving.

Beacon is looking for a friendly and enthusiastic youth engagement worker to work as part of a small team to deliver our SHINE offer to young people. SHINE offers early intervention support to all 11-17 year old’s in Stockport to provide information, advice or guidance regarding their emotional wellbeing. It includes: 2 weekly wellbeing groups, a weekly arts group (delivered by Beacon’s partner), signposting and advice. SHINE develops skills to support emotional wellbeing, build resilience and confidence with weekly themes over 12 weeks.

You will be the main point of contact for young people and their families, providing information, advice, guidance and support to access services. You will work with colleagues and the young people to devise and cofacilitate group sessions which are fun, engaging and support young people to develop skills and improve wellbeing. You will liaise with our partner delivery organisation, and support the future development of the service. You will responsible for completing all administrative duties in relation to the service, including the collection of monitoring and feedback data.

The role is for 17.5 hours per week. The hours are to be agreed, but must include Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4pm to 7pm. The salary for this role is £26,481 per annum pro rata.

To support the PA to the CEO and Office Administrator, by running efficient and effective systems for front office and office operations. To support the Head of HR and work closely with the HR Officer in HR Administration. To cover for PA duties to the CEO when the PA to the CEO and Office Administrator is not available. This support and coordination role will help the office as a whole to sustain high professional standards and effectiveness.

The Office & HR Assistant is responsible for: office administration (50%), HR, Health& Safety & security administration (40%), finance administration (5%) and IT administration (5%). 

Office administration (50%)

• Answer the AKF UK main phone line and pass on messages to AKF (UK) employees as appropriate

• Open and process the post at the Aga Khan Centre and deliver to the relevant AKF (UK) employee

• Manage the “front office” email account and ensure emails are replied to or forwarded to the relevant AKF (UK) employee

• Support the greeting and receiving of AKF (UK) guests at AKC

• Book meeting rooms at AKC for colleagues and external partners and arrange catering as required

• Support AKF(UK) events, facilitate and support hosting of meetings and events for partners, including travel, visas, accommodation, and catering; this may require some out of office duties

• Preparing and sending out offer letters and contracts as directed by the Head of HR

• Support the onboarding process including sending reference requests and background check requests

• Arrange induction and logistical arrangements for new employees including setting up phone, email, mobile, laptop, etc and purchasing new equipment as necessary

• Add new members to benefit schemes such as the private healthcare plan as directed by the Head of HR • Arrange leaving process for AKF (UK) employees and ensure all equipment is returned

• Draft responses to reference requests

• Support the Head of HR with the administration of the HR Management System (MyAKF) including updating it for joiners and leavers

• Troubleshoot any issues or problems with the MyAKF HR system, working with the MyAKF helpdesk

• Provide MyAKF system training to new starters.

• Draft visa sponsorship letters for all AKF (UK) employees and submit for approval and signature

• Provide Visa invitation letters to visiting delegates/employees.

• Coordinate with our travel insurance providers to arrange additional coverage for employee travel where required.

• Maintaining our training systems including allocating courses, adding new hires and removing leavers and running reports as required

• Support the Head of HR to ensure that employee health and safety and workstation tests are up to date

• Act as a Health and Safety Officer and Fire Marshal for AKF (UK)

• Act as a AKF (UK) First Aider including obtaining annual certification

• Assist the finance officers with the company credit card processes

The Senior Discrimination Caseworker will play an enormously important role in supporting people living with HIV who experience unlawful discrimination – whether at work, in accessing services, or in healthcare settings.

You’ll be responsible for working with people who experience discrimination related to their HIV status, to provide them with information and advice, and to take forward advocacy work and representation with them and on their behalf. You will challenge poor practice in a whole range of settings, through high-quality written advocacy documents as well as in meetings, and your work will directly result in securing the protection of rights for people living with HIV.

With your ability to take in a whole range of different experiences and information, you will be able to analyse and identify appropriate legal frameworks and remedies, providing clear information to people, and support them in deciding how they want to advocate for their rights.
