We are looking to recruit a motivated and talented individual with strong project management skills to lead the delivery of the training function within the BSI. Bereavement Support Services Lead (Digital). This is a rewarding and key role in the Bereavement Support Services team. The team provides a wide range of services, including the Helpline, Online Community, memory making, and print materials. The aim of this post is to provide operational and line management so that the BSS team can provide consistent, high-quality emotional support to bereaved families who seek support from Sands, as well as supervising the work of the Bereavement Support Officers on the frontline. As our digital support continues to grow and develop, we are looking for someone to support and inspire the team in this expanding area, working closely with Sands’ Bereavement Support Digital Coordinator. The Bereavement Support Services Team offers 1-2-1 support via telephone, email and other digital channels, and is usually open from 10-3 from Monday to Friday and 6-9pm from Tuesday to Thursday with occasional extended opening hours. Support is also available through digital channels; our Online Community, direct messenger on Instagram and Facebook and various closed groups on Facebook which need to be regularly monitored and moderated to provide a safe, user-led space accessible to all. In future a wider range of channels may be used. There are three Bereavement Support Leads (BSLs) including this post holder, and between them they are expected to cover all regular opening hours on a rota basis. Each shift will start 30 minutes before the helpline opens and end 30 minutes after the helpline closes, and BSLs will divide up the week in order to be present during shifts and ensure at least one BSL or the Head of BSS is available to the team 9am-4pm Monday to Friday and 5.30pm-9.30pm Tuesday to Thursday for safeguarding and general support. About Us
Safer Waves was set up in 2019 to provide support to merchant seafarers who have experienced sexual assault, sexual harassment or gender discrimination on board.
Safer Waves provides an anonymous email support service, run by volunteers who are trained in responding to disclosures of sexual violence, and who understand the specific challenges experienced when these events happen onboard a vessel.
We work with shipping companies, industry leaders, law enforcement and maritime training providers to raise awareness of sexual violence within the maritime industry, and to improve the support that is available to seafarers who experience it.

About you

SignHealth is a passionate and unique deaf-led charity, committed to creating a future where there are no barriers to good health and wellbeing for deaf people.
Our work is varied and aims to promote easier access to healthcare and information. We partner with the NHS and other services and take on projects, carry out research, and raise awareness. We also deliver our own services to reach deaf people in our shared language (BSL) in their moment of need, through domestic abuse support, therapy, advocacy and residential services.
As Business Development Manager, you will drive SignHealth’s growth by securing funding and building partnerships with government bodies, statutory funders, and key partners. Your work will help expand deaf-led services in mental health, domestic abuse, social care, and children and young people’s support.
You will identify new funding opportunities, craft compelling bids and tenders, and support service sustainability through strategic development. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will play an essential role in helping SignHealth thrive and deliver vital support for deaf people.
Your key priorities will include:
- Increasing bid capacity within the Business Development team to obtain more funding.
- Supporting the growth of SignHealth’s commercial consultancy services.
- Assisting in the business development of our social care services.
You will be involved in income generation, identifying and pursuing funding opportunities from statutory bodies, government contracts, and commercial sources and assisting in monitoring the performance of secured contracts and funding agreements. You will represent SignHealth at events, foster strategic partnerships, and strengthen relationships with funders and stakeholders.

The impact you will have
Working alongside the Head of Fundraising, you will inspire funders, donors and local companies to support our work. You will develop compelling applications to Trusts and Foundations and build strong relationships with grant managers.
Supporting the delivery of our annual calendar of public fundraising events, you will manage communications with public supporters and work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to develop innovative fundraising campaigns and social media content.

About you
You have a strong track record of generating income from a range of funders, with a proven success of securing grants from Trusts and Foundations. You also have up-to-date knowledge of fundraising best practice and current fundraising trends.
