As Senior Finance Officer, you will play a vital role at World Heart Beat, ensuring the effective day-to-day management of finances, financial administration, and bookkeeping, as well as informing future business planning. You will work with key personnel across the team, providing guidance and leadership in relation to budget management and financial information to support funding applications and stewardship. You will also provide excellent reporting to support the Executive and Board.

It is an exciting time for the charity, following the opening of World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens in 2023, our second site for music teaching, which includes a café, concert hall and recording studio. The operation of two sites has increased our activities and overheads, making the Senior Finance Officer role even more crucial. We have also established a CIC through which new earned income streams are channelled. The Senior Finance Officer will have the opportunity to develop and shape financial processes and contribute to forward planning.

Senior Education Officer

About the Role

We are looking to hire a skilled and engaging Senior Education Officer to join a busy team, to further develop and implement an educational outreach programme which reaches children in Wales, Scotland and England. At present, this post has funding for three years from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, one year of which is now complete and we are looking to deliver the second two years of the project.

The purpose of the role is to extend the passion and knowledge of beavers into communities around Britain, to engage and enthuse young people and to reconnect (or reinforce) their love of nature. Using current materials and resources you will do so by delivering high-quality learning sessions within schools, community groups or virtual training sessions, sometimes delivered in conjunction with our beaver site partners and their education teams.

You will also be responsible for developing further aspects of the programme according to the requirements for each country and in partnership with relevant organisations

Key responsibilities include:

• Deliver a range of exciting, curriculum-linked workshops, talks, school and group sessions associated with beaver release sites.
• Network and build contacts and relationships with key personnel in schools, youth groups and community groups in order to create engagement with the education programme and expand its reach.
• Develop further resources and engaging activities or projects for group learning.
• Deliver standard level beaver ecology training to a range of age groups.
• Ensure the education programmes are up-to-date, accurate and complement the wider delivery of our mission.
• Monitor, collate and report on impact, working with the communications team to support the effective evaluation of our programme.
• Support volunteers and build capacity working with partner staff in the delivery of beaver education programmes.
• Work with the team to allocate resources ensuring education initiatives are well planned, deliver maximum value for money and remain within budget.
• Consider equality, diversity and inclusion in the approach to all education initiatives, supported with external expertise.
• Follow policies, standard operating procedures and safe working practices to ensure our work with visiting education groups complies with all relevant guidelines and legislation, including health and safety, safeguarding, copyright and GDPR.

About You

• Good organisation skills including time management, administration, workload planning and meeting deadlines.
• A strong interest in nature, conservation and restoration and an understanding of the role beavers can play in our landscapes’ recovery.
• Working knowledge of safeguarding legislation and policies and procedures.
• Be prepared to undergo an Enhanced DBS with barred list.
• Experience in confidently using IT packages for teaching delivery, including the use of tablets, presentation software and audiovisual.

Thames Chase Community Forest was established in 1990 and covers an area of 98 square miles on the edge of east London and south-west Essex. Thames Chase Trust welcomes around 65,000 visitors per year to the Forest Centre complex. The architecturally acclaimed Visitor Centre is the information hub for the entire Community Forest and includes a cafe, shop, and public toilets. The complex also includes a 17th century barn, original stable block, refurbished Education Room, and farm cottages.

Our dedicated and friendly Forest Centre team seeks to provide the best possible visitor experience and to continue to develop and grow the complex. You will manage volunteers and five members of staff focussed on the Forest Centre complex. The staff team includes four Forest Centre Assistants and one Forest Centre Caretaker. You will be further supported by our Communications and Media Officer, Finance Officer, and Administration Officer. You will also work closely with the Progammes Team whose focus is project delivery across the Community Forest.

Role Description - What will you do?

People

You will bring this spectacular place closer to the hearts of visitors, our local communities and our many partners and you will lead on facilities, retail, catering (outsourced), visitor experience, membership, and volunteer teams. 

You will show initiative in developing the visitor experience through events, guiding, informing, and reinforcing the Thames Chase Plan, brand and values.

You will need to be able to promote the natural and cultural heritage of landscapes.

This part-time role is at the heart of our creative and administrative operations. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of production weeks, supporting creative planning and delivery, and providing administrative support to the Artistic Director and the wider team. They will help manage productions, support volunteers, maintain systems, and contribute to the ongoing success of our acclaimed playwriting programmes for children.

Candidates should be:

The Production Administrator & Assistant to the Artistic Director is responsible for:

· Coordinating all logistics and administration for courses and productions

· Managing communications and documentation for volunteers and creative teams

· Acting as Production Manager during show weeks and supporting technical teams

· Assisting the Artistic Director with administrative and scheduling duties

· Maintaining systems including Salesforce CRM and managing merchandise stock and sales

· Helping to ensure a welcoming, well-run studio environment at S&H HQ
 

The Production Administrator & Assistant to the Artistic Director reports to the CEO & Artistic Director and collaborates closely with all members of the staff team.

Goodman Masson are delighted to be partnered with the Black Researcher Consortium to recruit for their Chair of the Board.

The Black Researcher Consortium is a newly formed community interest company (C.I.C.), designed, developed and built by people with Black heritage, for people with Black heritage. The Consortium objects are to address the systemic under-representation of Black researchers across educational institutions, research organisations, government, and industry environments in collaboration with Black researchers, Black-led community initiatives and all those bridging the systemic gap, connecting Black researchers.

As the Chair, you will be responsible for overseeing appraisal process for board members and consortium director.

Main Responsibilities Include:

• Lead the Board in ensuring it fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of the Consortium
• Work in partnership with any executive directors
• Carry out an annual appraisal of the Executive Directors
• Chair the Board meetings and Annual General Meeting
• Represent the Consortium at events and on other related boards or working parties

Essentials:

• Prior experience as a Chair
• Ability to adopt an inclusive chairing style

Monthly working pattern: 4 board meetings, 1-2 strategy days, and committee meetings, amounting to 3 days a month.

Salary: £4,680 per annum

• Culture, community, and collaboration have been key in the background to BRC thus far, can you tell us what actions you have undertaken in any arena that will help us to achieve a welcoming and inclusive panel, committee, or board.
• As a new organisation, the BRC will face numerous strategic challenges including navigating a complex external political environment, but also internal challenges in navigating and defining our own mission. Can you identify some of the challenges you anticipate for us and any experience you have had in addressing challenges in other arenas.
• In addressing the under-representation of Black researchers, a big part of the role of Chair will be in representing the Consortium in a public arena which does not always shine a positive light on initiatives like the BRC. Can you tell us about an experience of facing adversity when acting in a professional capacity in a public arena on a highly scrutinised topic?
