Citizen Church, launched in 2020, and is a Church in Wales church with three campuses in South Wales, and part of the Holy Trinity Brompton network.
Citizen’s vision is to play its part in the evangelisation of the nation, the revitalisation of the church and the transformation of society. Their mission is to break the stereotypes of church, to breach loneliness, to bring people home and to build the kingdom in Cardiff, Wales and beyond. Citizen has partnered with Resurgo to deliver the Spear programme in the heart of South Wales.
They are looking for a new Assistant Coach, to work alongside the Centre Manager, as part of the team at Citizen Church to deliver the Spear Programme, equipping and empowering unemployed 16–24 year olds to overcome barriers to employment and turn their lives around by moving into sustainable work or further education.
The important stuff
Salary: £21,500 p.a. pro rata for part-time role (£10,750)
Hours: Part time, 2.5 days per week, between 9.30am – 5.30pm, Tuesday – Thursday (with some flexibility and occasional evening or weekend work for events such as Spear Celebrations)
Location: Citizen Church, Cardiff

Key Responsibilities
Spear Programme
- Lead group sessions of up to 10 young people, using coaching skills to transform their mindsets, and to maximise their potential in stepping into the world of work
- Prepare and deliver coaching sessions on a weekly basis and find creative ways of developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees. This includes running application workshops with past Trainees as well as maintaining records and reporting on statistics.
Relationship management
- Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, and other organisations
- You will support with job fairs, mock interview days and welcoming external visitors to the centre
Church Community
- The Spear Coach is directly employed by Citizen Church, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community
- Help to raise the profile of the Spear programme within Citizen Church and build a network of supporters and volunteers from the congregation
- Other ad hoc church responsibilities from time to time.

In Preston, Resurgo is partnering with Preston Minster where Spear acts as a key part of the church’s mission to change the culture of the town by bringing hope to unemployed young people.
Preston Minster’s vision is to play their part in the re-evangelisation of the nation, the revitalisation of the church, and the transformation of society. In 2019 they were sent from Holy Trinity Brompton, London, to help people in Preston find their home, find their purpose and transform their city. A vibrant church in the heart the city centre, with a mission to see lives changed by Jesus. They aim to be a church that offers a big welcome and a safe space to explore the Christian faith and encounter the person of Jesus.
Whilst holding the portfolio for Spear Coach, the post holder will be a member of Preston Minster and actively involved in the life of the church beyond their ministry area. A commitment to this, as well as a flexible attitude, is vital.
The important stuff
Salary: £24,000 pro rata, plus defined contribution pension scheme
Hours: Part time, 20 hours per week, between 9.30am – 5.30pm, Monday – Thursday (with some flexibility and occasional evening or weekend work for events such as Spear Celebrations)

- Liaise with relevant staff locally on-site issues and work to resolve them as soon as possible, ensuring the office and training rooms are safe and tidy working spaces in line with health and safety policies and safeguarding issues are reported in a timely manner.

The Role

This role is for someone who can support the Finance Systems Manager and Finance Systems Analyst to provide robust, reliable finance systems and applications for use by the organisation, ensuring the security and integrity of all financial data held. This role contributes to the Finance Systems Team vision to support and encourage an environment of continuous improvement. You will be responsible for routine tasks and the first point of contact in the team for non-Finance users’ support queries.
The Responsibilities
• Process regular Supplier updates following the completion of the Supplier Engagement Process
• Process regular Project and Cost Centre updates following the completion of the Project Maker App
• Produce Supplier reports to the teams for their action
• Process regular updates to the financial software (Dimensions) for the Financial Controllers (referred to as Mtab updates) and linking to the Power Apps for each Entity
• Checking, refreshing and syncing App Libraries – Checking that automated scripts have run and initiating others that are not covered by automation or other routine tasks
• Data cleansing associated with the above processes and other datasets
• Monitoring and triaging user support requests
• Diagnosing user support requests, allocating them to correct tasks and monitoring progress where needed.
• Monitoring and updating approval routes, financial data, supplier records, and SharePoint documents
• Setting up and maintaining users in the finance systems and applications
• Assisting users in navigating the finances systems and applications
• Training users in the finance induction and for ad hoc needs
• Provide support to the Processing Team with pay run queries and other controls
• Provide support to the Reporting Team (for example, journal processing, fixing reporting issues) as agreed with your line manager
• Assist the Finance Systems Team in tidying up SharePoint folders and structures
• Produce procedures in an accessible format for new staff in the Finance Team and for users outside of Finance
• Support the Finance Systems Manager in the administration and maintenance of all existing finance systems, processes, and online tools/applications
• Responsible under the supervision of the Finance Systems Manager for the management of financial data and its integrity
• Any adhoc or project related tasks requested by the Finance Systems Manager

The Role

This is role will help develop and grow our income from Corporate Partnerships, Charitable Trusts and Foundations along with Individual Givers and Statutory Contracts. Working across both Love Your Neighbour and the Revitalise Trust to meet or exceed targets through exceptional research, events, networking, proposals and report writing. Collaborating with the wider team to contribute your skills to ensure the wider team targets are delivered successfully.
The Responsibilities
• Will contribute fully to the day-to-day operation of their team or area, with flexibility and without the need for close supervision.
• Using a good degree of proficiency and well - established professional knowledge, will analyse and help to find solutions to challenges and issues that arise.
• To deliver your fundraising target through the oversight and significant growth of your caseload of supporters. Using research, networking and your existing contacts to onboard new partners and create a 3 year pipeline of prospects enabling our income and support to underpin the organisation’s vision and mission.
• Deliver exceptional proposals, reports, engagement opportunities and updates in a timely manner using your knowledge and experience to champion our donor needs, develop effective comms to your accounts and work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure the impact data, engagement opportunities, policies and stories are presented to win and renew funding, measured against financial targets, renewal % and average gift levels.
• Develop the customer experience for your caseload to world class standard. Review and enhance existing processes, engagement tools and materials to ensure they are contributing towards strong and sustained relationships with supporters. Ensure gifts and donor relationship information is accurately recorded, processed, thanked and reported on in a timely and confidential fashion using Raisers Edge and developing a strong relationship with the Giving Team and other internal stakeholders.
• Communicate effectively and accurately with other entity Fundraising Teams. Support and collaborate with wider fundraising opportunities and to attend all relevant fundraising team meetings to have a rounded understanding of what we are trying to achieve in our fundraising across the group.
• Responsible for keeping updated on relevant fundraising and volunteering best practice, regulations and opportunities. Ensuring you undertake the training offered to you, proactively seek out learning opportunities within the third sector and Christian or Corporate philanthropy networks.
• Other ad hoc projects as they arise. Including but not limited to working with our network to facilitate partnership opportunities with Churches and LYN Hubs, being willing to support with advice for developing their local fundraising. Attending and supporting donor events, ongoing research and improving team and wider working practices.
The Right Candidate
• A 3 year track record of demonstrable growth in income against targets.
• Experience of identifying and developing funding partnerships using research, networking and delivering timely proposals for funding and engagement with a high conversion rate.
• Able to accept responsibility for personal targets and demonstrate ability to contribute to wider team KPIs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to create effective communication for both Christian and secular audiences.
• A good working knowledge of MS Office and CRM Databases.
• Organised with an ability to prioritise and work effectively with multiple deadlines and projects.

About the Role:
The primary purpose of this role is to provide debt advice and money education on a case management basis and to support the provision of advice by volunteers. The post holder will be expected to manage their own cases and lead appointment sessions.
The organisation’s mission is to ‘Restore Dignity and Renew Hope’ to those in our communities brought down by poverty and debt. The job holder will play their part in bringing this vision to reality, supporting clients through what at times can be emotionally difficult situations, to get back on their feet and realise their full potential.
The role combines both technical and pastoral elements. The role will involve building a client case, untangling sometimes complex situations, liaising with creditors, providing guidance for volunteers, and discerning and communicating the appropriate choices and strategies for the client. But you will also need to lead client appointments and support clients through what at times can be emotionally difficult situations.
About you:
We are looking for someone with prior debt advice experience who ideally has experience in leading and supervising volunteers.
Essential skills and experience of the Case Manager include:
- Previous experience in providing regulated debt advice on a case management basis
- Being a DRO intermediary would be an advantage
- Demonstrable experience in providing person-focused support to clients who may be vulnerable
- Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to show empathy, compassion and patience
- Sound IT skills with a strong command of the Microsoft Office suite
