The Role:

As a trustee, you'll play a key role in shaping our strategy, providing strong governance, and ensuring we stay true to our mission. You'll help guide our long-term vision, support leadership, and ensure our resources are used effectively to maximise impact. Key responsibilities include:
- Fulfil the legal duties of the trustee role.

Commitment
Trustees serve an initial three-year term (extendable up to nine years) and attend four in-person board meetings annually in Bath or Bristol. Meetings start at 4 PM and last around four hours. Trustees also join at least one committee or the subsidiary board, with four online meetings per year (5:30 PM start, 2.5 hours). Additionally, there is one full strategy day each year.
What we are looking for:
We are seeking a dedicated individual with exceptional communication skills to champion our cause. The ideal candidate will possess strong listening abilities, be receptive to feedback, and appreciate diverse perspectives.
Creativity is essential—you should think innovatively, bring fresh ideas, and be willing to challenge the status quo. If you are a natural influencer with a passion for making a meaningful impact, we would love to hear from you.
In addition, we are looking for individuals who can bring at least one of the following specialisms to the board:
- Deep understanding of charity fundraising, most likely from having held senior leadership fundraising positions in charities.
- Deep understanding of charity retail, most likely from having held senior leadership retail positions in charities.
- Strong networks and relationships with donors, sponsors, and partners, with the potential to leverage connections to benefit Julian House.
- Direct lived experience of the types of services that Julian House provides.
Please note, that board experience is not a requirement, the selected candidate will be assigned a ‘buddy’ on the Board and will be fully inducted into the trustee role.

Our purpose is to provide quality homes to improve the lives of veterans and their families. We have a long and proud history of supporting our beneficiaries. We have over 1,500 properties across the UK on small well-managed estates, ranging from six houses to 360 homes on our largest estate in Morden. Homes are available at an affordable rent. We froze rents in 2022, allowing us to keep increases to below inflation over the last four years. We are in a strong financial position. Total income in FY 23/24 was £12M. We are debt-free with a strong balance sheet. We own our properties, have strong reserves and are diversifying our income, growing fundraising so that we can modernise our homes and increase our impact.
We are governed by a diverse Board of independent, non-executive trustees with a wealth of professional, charity and Armed Forces experience. Trustees meet formally every quarter and delegate specific issues to three committees (Finance and Risk, Estates and People) that report to the Board. Overall, we have c60 staff, based in Victoria, led by the Chief Executive and a Senior Leadership Team of four.

We do ask that candidates commit to:
- Attending four board meetings, a strategy offsite and four sub-committee meetings a year.

- Monitoring the performance of Haig’s activities in a constructive and collaborative way.

The overall time commitment is around 1 day a month on average. Board usually meets in person in London each quarter; committee meetings are remote. Trustees are appointed for renewable terms of office of three years. The role is unremunerated, although expenses are reimbursed.

Be responsible for overseeing all onsite logistics through liaison with the Student Ambassador to ensure that onsite logistics including advertising of the class and other required tasks are taken care of by the MSA/ISoc

Be the point of contact for ISocs: answer questions from the MSA/ ISoc committees and Student Ambassadors to the best of your ability and engage them on a 1-1 basis, listen to their needs and concerns and addressing these accordingly

The Bond Board is a small but ambitious charity working to reduce homelessness by helping people access and keep homes in the private rented sector. We’ve been going since 1993 and are proud of our grassroots approach, our resilience, and our impact.
We started with Bond Guarantees to help people into housing without the need for a cash deposit. Today, we also run an ethical lettings agency, bring empty homes back into use, and support people with tenancy advice, financial inclusion, refugee resettlement and more. Our services are shaped by the people who use them, and rooted in partnership and local knowledge.
We’re looking for new trustees who share our values and want to help us grow our impact. You don’t need to have been a trustee before. We have been providing sheltered housing in our Grade II listed building since 1973 and have nine good sized rooms each with their own en-suite or designated private bathroom. Our dedicated, caring and professional team of staff make the home friendly and welcoming.
The Abbeyfield Norwich Society is looking to expand its board of trustees, with particular interest in applicants who have knowledge, expertise and a general background in Adult Social Care, supported living and working with older people. Further skills such as a working knowledge of how local authorities, operate and impact on the lives of older people, or legal, financial knowledge.
The main duty for this role is to attend 6, in person board meetings. These may require reading and research prior to the meeting itself, which will be provided for you.
The successful candidate would have an understanding of Abbeyfield England’s ethos, culture, aims and ambitions for older people. As well as an insight into Abbeyfield England, we would expect the successful applicant to have a proven background in a management or senior management setting.
