Role Overview 

The role is responsible for delivering comprehensive HR support across the organisation, covering recruitment, onboarding, training, and support for performance management and employee relations. It includes managing volunteer processes and working closely with both internal managers and external HR and payroll providers. The postholder will play a key role in maintaining effective HR systems, ensuring policy compliance, and supporting a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities 

• Managing end-to-end recruitment processes across multi-disciplinary teams; including recruitment, onboarding, DBS checking, training and development, absence, performance management and leavers.
• Ongoing development, coordination, and oversight of SCT’s volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, and administration in collaboration with SCT’s managers.
• Working closely with SCT’s outsourced HR support.
• Providing SCT managers with guidance on volunteer recruitment and any management issues.
• Implementing, maintaining and reviewing an annual training plan for all employees.
• Maintaining up-to-date staff files and HR system records including DBS validation, handling confidential employee and volunteer data in line with data protection legislation.
• Supporting employee relations by assisting with complaints, grievances, and disciplinary procedures, including provision of support to managers on all employee-relation matters.
• Working with SCT’s Business Operations Officer to ensure accurate information is provided to SCT’s outsourced payroll administrators to ensure accuracy of all relevant information.
• Supporting the ongoing review, development and improvement of clear, consistent, and accessible policies and procedures across the organisation.
• Working closely with SCT’s managers to promote the ongoing communication, implementation, and participation in the review cycle of policies and procedures.
• Undertaking other reasonable duties that may be required from time to time.

Person Specification 

• CIPD qualified to level 5 or significant HR Management experience will also be considered

• 3+ years demonstrable generalist HR Management experience or similar role types

• Demonstrable experience of working across multiple sites

• Excellent communication skills both in the written form and in person with the ability to adapt to all audiences

• Experience of presenting material and report writing to a range of audiences

Essential Skills and Experience

• Proven experience in managing end-to-end recruitment processes, including onboarding, training, performance management, absence, and leaver procedures.
• Awareness of UK employment law and GDPR, with a willingness to learn and apply policies correctly.
• Understanding of volunteer management, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and administration.
• Experience with outsourced HR support services, providing HR guidance and support to managers, particularly in volunteer and employee management matters.
• Experience in maintaining accurate HR records and handling confidential information in line with data protection legislation.
• Practical knowledge of employee relations processes, including handling complaints, grievances, and disciplinary procedures.
• Familiarity with payroll processes and working collaboratively to ensure accurate payroll data.
• Comfortable using HR databases, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office tools.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
• Help coordinate internal communications and staff events.

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Experience in developing and implementing annual training and development plans.
• Previous involvement in reviewing and updating organisational HR policies and procedures.
• Experience in the charity or voluntary sector, particularly in managing and supporting volunteers.

Summary

The role will involve:

1. Supporting the Bishop of London and the Archbishop of York in their work in the House of Lords.
2. Advising on and researching materials for parliamentary speeches and interventions.
3. Monitoring and keeping the Bishop of London and the Archbishop of York informed about relevant parliamentary developments and timetables.
4. Liaising with MPs, Peers and their staff, Parliamentary officials and others in and outside the NCIs on behalf of the Bishop and Archbishop.
5. Drafting articles for publication, press notices or social media about the Bishop's and Archbishops' work, in close collaboration with their Communications Officers.
6. Providing research resource for the Archbishop in his provincial role and both he and the Bishop in their dioceses for non-parliamentary work. This may involve researching and drafting for talks, articles and lectures.
7. Assisting with disseminating the Church's responses to specific issues or bills, as agreed with the Head of Parliamentary Affairs and Deputy Head of Parliamentary Affairs. Supporting the Head and Deputy Head of Parliamentary Affairs in their wider responsibilities and standing in for them as and when required.
8. Working with the Parliamentary Team to ensure that the Bishop and Archbishop are kept abreast of the wider activities of the Lords Spiritual and the Parliamentary Team.

• This is a full-time post which is offered initially for a fixed-term of 12 months.
• 75% of the postholder's working time will be spent in support of the Bishop of London and 25% of the Archbishop of York.
• Base location will be Lambeth Palace, London, SE1 7JU
• Work also expected to take place from Church House, Westminster, SW1P 3AZ; The Old Deanery, London, EC4V 5AA.

This is an exciting role in our facilities team that will support the smooth running of the building, including maintaining kitchen supplies, issuing building access passes, supporting with the administration of the planned maintenance cycle and with building maintenance requests.

With your warm, friendly, professional manner, you will provide exemplary office management, from accepting regular deliveries and post for our hostel residents and services, to ensuring we have all the right supplies in the right place.  You’ll be a strong help to the Facilities Manager, providing top-notch administrative support to maintain our requirements under health and safety, and hands-on help when needed around the building.

Bringing your experience of office management and willingness and enthusiasm to support with maintenance tasks, you will proactively seek to continually improve yourself and the role, championing a culture of service excellence, as well as taking ownership and accountability of your workload.

The postholder will be a key part of growing the Hub’s  Advice and Advocacy/ Pastoral / Wrap-around services, working as a team with our partners, providing support to guests and volunteers.

• Working with a Caseload of Guests on a 1-1 and group basis and providing support via multiple channels, including Telephone, Email, In Person, virtually, and other project locations, develop action/support plans

• Working with a caseload of guests to provide support/signpost

•  Facilitate group workshops, Coffee Mornings, and information sessions

About Finance at Hope into Action 

The Finance function of Hope Into Action is small team comprising the Finance Lead, the Finance Administrator and a volunteer reporting to the Head of Operations. It is largely paperless and supports our 42 staff with accounts payable and receivable functions. It works in conjunction with the other departments to deliver timely, accurate and strategic financial information for both the Executive Team and the Board of Trustees. 

About the role 

The Finance Lead is a key role in enabling Hope into Action fulfil its vision of every church lovingly making a home for those experiencing homelessness.

The role is broad ranging from monitoring the Finance inbox to posting transactions on our Xero accounting system and producing the monthly management accounts within our target of 10 working days from the month end 

In addition, you will support the year end work by producing the schedules required by auditors, take a lead in the annual budgeting process, produce the biannual investor statements and compile the gift aid returns. 

You will be expected to meet regularly with budget holders to help them achieve their targets and/or devise a plan to bring them back on track.

We are looking for a self-motivated person with a passion for our work, tenants, staff, churches and mission. You will be adaptable and equally comfortable with bank reconciliations as writing a commentary on the management accounts. We employ people of hope where humility, a genuine desire to love and serve others, and strength of character are as important as any job description. Roughly, 50% of our homes are in our ‘line-managed cities’ (Peterborough, Norwich, Nottingham, Cambridge), the other 50% are found across a further 30+ towns which we franchise into.

Responsibilities include but are not exhaustive;

• To have full responsibility for the organisation and supervision of the school and extended services as an examination centre, ensuring adequate security and the adherence to appropriate examination board regulations and routines.
• To timetable all external and internal examinations.  
• Coordinate the preparation and submission of entries to examination bodies.
• To oversee correspondence with curriculum areas and examination boards.
• Deliver training on invigilation and facilitation of access arrangements.
• Actively engage in training sessions, meetings and other directed tasks, to support the school’s priorities and to ensure their own professional development.
• Attend staff meetings and planning meetings when required.
• Report any safeguarding concerns to the Senior Designated Person.
• Adhere to all safeguarding policies, practices and expectations including online safety.
• Support the safe arrival and departure of the children and young people to and from school on LA or parental transport

About You;

• Recent Exams Officer Training.
• Experience of working as an Exams Officer.
• Strong administrative skills 
• Experience of JCQ inspections in relation to delivery of exams and access arrangements.
• Experience of exam timetabling and facilitating access arrangements.
• The ability to keep records in an orderly fashion and prioritise competing tasks within specified time constraints
• Flexibility in dealing with changing circumstances. 
• A proficient level of spoken and written English.
• Evidence of recent relevant professional development.
• An understanding of the JCQ regulations for delivering examinations and for access arrangements.
• Strong personal resilience.

The Role:

As the Play & Youth Work Lead, you'll be at the heart of our children and youth services — designing and leading a dynamic, inclusive programme that supports the wellbeing, development, and empowerment of local young people and their families.

Key Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For:

Essential:

• Minimum Level 3 qualification in Youth Work or related field
• 3+ years’ experience working with children and young people
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and ability to lead a team
• Experience designing and delivering inclusive play/youth programmes
• Passionate about empowering young people and families
• Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills

Desirable:

• Play work qualification and/or sports coaching experience
• Knowledge of local support networks (e.g., mental health, housing, education)

Join Dementia UK as a Academy Learning Support Officer and be part of a team dedicated to improving the lives of families affected by dementia through the learning and development of Admiral Nurses.

Working closely with the Admiral Nurse Academy Support Manager and wider team, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality learning opportunities through our learning management system, Blackboard. This includes assisting the Virtual Learning Environment Design Officer in designing and building online courses and modules, supporting with storyboarding, content organisation and the development of interactive activities. You will use digital tools such as Articulate, Vyond and Padlet to help create engaging, accessible e-learning materials. You will also contribute to planning and progress meetings with the Academy team and subject matter experts.

You will help maintain our external-facing Dementia UK Academy platform, currently in development, by managing content updates, registrations, learner queries and event support. As first-line support for learners, you will also troubleshoot basic technical issues.

In addition, you will provide administrative support to ensure the smooth delivery of Admiral Nurse Academy activities such as webinars, masterclasses and both internal and external online events. This will include assisting with scheduling, coordinating logistics, updating project trackers and communicating with Admiral Nurses, learners and key stakeholders.

To succeed in this role, you will have experience supporting the design and delivery of online learning content, with a good working knowledge of platforms such as Blackboard and digital tools including Articulate, Padlet and Vyond. You will be confident working collaboratively with both internal teams and external stakeholders and have project coordination or management skills, along with the ability to use or a willingness to learn project management software.
