Leeds Citizens Advice & Law Centre has been providing free and independent advice for more than 80 years, offering access to justice for people experiencing disadvantage or discrimination. In November 2024, we joined the Law Centres Network and have secured funding to expand our legal advice service.
We’re looking for a Solicitor or CILEx to supervise our housing advice team and legal aid contract. The team offers complex casework and representation to clients facing possession, eviction, serious disrepair and housing issues related to DAV and to anti-social behaviour. You will have 3 years’ PQE in housing law and be able to manage a wide range of cases, as well as experience of working under a legal aid contract, supervising caseworkers, and meeting targets.

The Lead Practitioner will play a key role in supporting the Approved Premises (AP) Managers in the day-to-day running of the service, ensuring high standards of care, safety, and rehabilitation opportunities for residents. This includes overseeing staff support, organising shift coverage, coordinating training, and maintaining strong relationships with external partners. The role requires a proactive approach to resident engagement, activity planning, and staff development while working a variety of shifts, including weekends and late shifts.
The candidate will be required to work across two sites in Leeds.
Key Responsibilities
Staff Support & Rota Management
- Assist the AP Manager in organising and ensuring appropriate rota coverage, including managing last-minute changes.
- Provide day-to-day support to support staff, ensuring clear communication and guidance.
- Disseminate relevant information to staff to ensure smooth service operation.
- Support AP manager to develop good practice across the teams.
Training & Development
- Ensure new team members receive appropriate induction and training.
- Deliver training sessions, including First Aid and other relevant development opportunities.
- Support continuous professional development for staff, ensuring a skilled and competent workforce.
- Co-ordinate the submission of Enabling Environments on-going award process.
- Support the AP manager in preparing for HMIP Inspections.
Meetings & Partnership Working
- Attend and contribute to Equality, Inclusion, and Diversity (EID) meetings and other relevant meetings as required by the AP Manager, within the MOJ
- Liaise with partner organisations, building and maintaining strong links with the local community to enhance support services.
Resident Engagement & Activities
- Liaise with the AP Manager and Activities co-ordinators to ensure a full calendar of activities is available for residents, promoting engagement and rehabilitation.
- Manage the activity calendar, coordinating and overseeing planned events and programmes.
Shift & Working Hours
- Work a variety of shifts to support service needs, including two weekend days per month and four late shifts per month.
- Provide hands-on support within the AP, ensuring a visible leadership presence.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
- Experience working within a criminal justice, supported housing or rehabilitation setting.
- Previous experience in a leadership or senior role within a similar setting.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to build effective partnerships with external organisations and community groups.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage staff and residents effectively.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to shift work, including weekends and late shifts.

You’ll have experience in line management or have led a similar-sized marketing team, so you’re comfortable providing support and guidance to develop people and help them achieve their KPIs. You’ll take the lead on developing concepts for campaigns to achieve our goals and support your team to deliver projects that optimise and improve our channels. Role description
As our philanthropy coordinator, you will play a key role in building new partnerships with philanthropists and high-net-worth individuals, with an immediate focus on the UK, US, and Europe. You will design and implement a comprehensive strategy to build a robust portfolio of individual donors, Family Foundations, Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) and other personal giving vehicles.
A proactive and thoughtful relationship builder, you will maintain long-term relationships and lead bold strategies to engage new audiences, including millennial and next-generation philanthropists. You will steward Open Briefing’s first global development board, working closely with our CEO and director of development to engage members around a dynamic programme of activities designed to make Open Briefing more fundable and findable.
Together with our director of development, you will drive forward a multi-year fundraising strategy to resource our work with activists and organisations on the frontlines of human rights, social justice, and environmental action.
Your primary responsibilities will include:

Designing and executing our philanthropy fundraising strategy. Lead a strategy to identify, cultivate, and solicit high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) —including through Donor Advised Funds, Family Offices, Family Foundations, and other giving vehicles—with an immediate focus on the US, UK and Europe.

Prospecting and donor acquisition. Manage HNWI prospecting, generate new leads, develop solicitation plans, brief senior leadership in advance of meetings, and coordinate cultivation and networking opportunities.

Stewardship and relationship management. Build strong relationships with existing and potential donors through tailored stewardship plans designed to grow income over time. Manage donor tracking and communication systems.

Nurture and grow our development board - Work alongside our director of development and CEO to identify and engage members and steward the Board through a 12-month action-orientated development campaign.

Budget Management. Manage a programme budget for cultivation and stewardship events and activities.

Collaboration and Communication. Work closely with our communications coordinator, director of development and programme teams in the production and dissemination of donor-relevant reports, updates and other content; and contribute to the conception and organisation of donor-facing online and in-person events.

Team support. As a key member of our development and communications team, undertaken other duties as reasonably requested relevant to team and organisational goals.

Terms and remuneration
This is a remote, home-working role. You will be contracted for 40 hours a week on a full-time, fixed-term contract. Flexible working is available and encouraged.
