About the role 

With your own caseload of families, you will act as their key worker within our Family Service and support homeless and poorly housed families to defend their right to a decent home. Your primary focus will be on households where some tailored interventions are required around the needs of the children in order to stabilise their housing situation and enable the family to thrive.

Accordingly, you will provide intensive, tailored support as part of a whole family approach in a 1-2-1 setting and through group work. You will also need to regularly visit clients’ homes, schools and community venues across the city and liaise with other agencies in the community in order to provide a co-ordinated service.

About you 

You have knowledge of child development and a strong understanding of homeless children and families, with experience of supporting parents, children and young people who have complex needs.  You also have knowledge of housing, homelessness and ASB legislation and welfare benefits that affect families and the skills to network and gather information as well as advocacy, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

You will need to be able to demonstrate that you have worked within, or understand, a safeguarding framework, are IT literate and have experience of managing a caseload and can prioritise, organise and set boundaries. With a full driving licence, you will have access to a vehicle for work purposes, an allowance and mileage will be paid.

Key Duties for Form F Assessors include:

• To undertake and complete Form F assessments in the timescale set out in our policy and guidance.
• To visit personal referees as identified on application form for prospective foster carers.
• To ensure that all checks and references are undertaken and completed.
• To provide to the supervisor, regular written updates of the draft assessment.
• To liaise with our administrative team concerning the progress of administrative checks and completion of the Form F.
• To be available for supervision, consultation or liaison as required.
• To be available to present completed Form Fs to the virtual fostering panel and provide support to the applicants through this process.
• To be aware of our child protection procedures and immediately report any child protection matter or concerns to a TACT manager and any relevant placing authority and the area authority.
• To carry out the duties in line with our Foster Carer and Supervising Social Worker Standards and Practice Guidance.

Rates of Pay for Form F Assessors

• We will pay £2250 (inclusive of VAT) + up to £500 bonus payments (if criteria are met) upon submission of a successfully completed Form F Assessment.
• £37.50 per hour for assessments which are not completed, and any other piece of work.

This is a unique and rewarding role in our Employment & Learning Team that will involve meeting and working with residents in our supported accommodation on a one-to-one basis and in groups, facilitating activities and evaluating and building evidence that these interventions have made a difference. Your work will focus on supporting our residents (aged 16-25) on-site with their Life Skills development. You will also work holistically to support the families who attend sessions in the Family Centre and who attend outings and “away-days”. The role also requires facilitating our study club (aged 13+) and group ESOL sessions (19+).

The Deputy Contract Manager is responsible for the operational management of our specialist customer focused support services across the service. Since LRU started campaigning for rent controls in 2024, we’ve secured the support of MPs, trade unions and charities, organised large demonstrations and pushed the issue of rising rents up the political agenda.

The purpose of this role is to work alongside members and other union staff to take our campaigning for rent controls to the next level through a combination of protests, local organising, coalition building and targeting of power holders, landlords and corporations. 

How we work at LRU

You will be part of the LRU staff team alongside 12 other staff, who work with members to build the power of the union by organising, campaigning, training and supporting peer support and member solidarity actions.  We expect staff to uphold the union's values, and work together to implement collectively agreed strategies.  The staff team are accountable to the elected member Coordinating Group.

Job description

• Support members to organise ambitious and effective actions and protests in support of rent controls.

• Leading on specific projects and campaigns as part of the Cut the Rent campaign and other campaign priorities decided by LRU members.  For example, if the campaigns committee decides to target a particular developer or politician as part of the wider Cut the Rent campaign.

• Working with the Union Coordinator and members to implement and track progress on the overall Cut the Rent strategy.

• Implementing organising approaches to ensure that the Cut the Rent campaigns builds the active membership and power of the union.

• Working alongside the Union Coordinator to represent LRU in external meetings and events, and help to build LRU’s relationships with other organisations.  Supporting members to do this.

• Ensure meetings of the Campaigns Committee are effective and well run.

• Work alongside members and other other staff to ensure branches participate in the Cut the Rent campaign, and feed into strategy.

• Contribute to the collective activity of the Organising Team, including taking part in phone banking and outreach sessions and team meetings.

• As time allows, work alongside other members of the staff Organising Team to support members outside of branch areas to participate in the Cut the Rent campaign.

We are looking for someone with administration or secretarial experience gained in a legal environment to be the new Legal Administrator for our National Legal Administration Team. You could soon be playing a vital role helping people who are affected by the housing emergency.

About The Role

You will provide full administrative support to the Legal Team, including taking telephone calls, secretarial duties, data entry, note taking, sorting the post and managing diaries. You will also be responsible for supporting the wider team when required to ensure the effective running of the service. You will need to liaise with clients and third parties, including making appointments and obtaining information. Producing reports, providing an accurate audio typing service, processing legal funding and other documents, managing files, preparing documents for court and entering information onto a case management system are other aspects of this interesting and varied role.

About You

You have secretarial experience gained in a legal practice and audio/copy typing skills with a minimum of 70 wpm, along with advanced knowledge of IT tools including case management systems and MS Office systems.  You have great written and verbal communication skills and enjoy working as part of a busy team.

About the Role

The Refugee and Migrant Centre is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our Resettlement Department. As part of our mission to assist refugees and migrants in overcoming barriers to integration, this role will play a key part in helping newly arrived refugees settle into their new communities with confidence and independence.

RMC is a well-established charity with over 25 years of experience working with vulnerable refugees and migrants. We provide a range of services, including immigration advice, housing support, welfare assistance, and employment guidance. Our work ensures that refugees and migrants receive the necessary support to become equal citizens in the UK.

Purpose of the Role

The Family Support Worker will support newly arrived refugees and their families, enabling them to navigate the complex challenges of settling into the UK. Working closely with our multi-skilled resettlement team, you will deliver holistic support to refugees across a range of services, including welfare benefits, housing, health, education, and employment. You will also play a key role in empowering families to build their confidence, independence, and long-term integration into the community.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Client Support & Case Management:

• Manage a caseload of newly arrived refugee families, providing tailored support to meet their specific needs.
• Conduct home visits and orientation sessions to welcome clients to their new community and complete holistic needs assessments.
• Develop Personal Integration Plans for each household on a quarterly basis, helping them set goals for long-term independence.
• Coordinate support with external agencies and specialists to address clients’ needs, ensuring seamless service delivery.
• Support families with housing, welfare benefits, education, healthcare, and employment.
• Assist with registration for healthcare services (GPs, dentists, opticians) and support with medical assessments.
• Facilitate access to education for children and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes for adults.
• Provide guidance on immigration matters and ensure the correct paperwork is in place, including registering for Biometric Residence Cards and supporting welfare benefit applications.
• Ensure clients are financially supported by applying for relevant welfare benefits and assisting with mandatory reconsiderations as required.

Integration & Independence:

• Help clients develop the skills and knowledge to achieve independence, focusing on self-sufficiency and integration into the local community.
• Support families in securing suitable accommodation, liaising with landlords, housing providers, and relevant stakeholders.
• Provide ongoing orientation on UK systems, including financial rights and responsibilities, social services, and community resources.

Partnership Working & Community Engagement:
