Avon Wildlife Trust are looking for a Head of People and Resources to shape the development of our workforce and ensure that our staff and volunteers have everything they need to fulfil their roles.

Like many organisations, we have recently moved to a hybrid working approach including homeworking and operational hubs throughout our area. We have embraced collaborative online working through Microsoft Teams and are making the transition to fully cloud based IT systems. We are operating effectively in our new model, but much remains to be done to ensure that staff and volunteers are supported by the best systems and facilities that we can provide. The Head of People and Resources is a new role in the Trust, introduced to help make and maintain this transition. You will also support the operation of our Board and the governance of the Trust.

Overall Purpose of Job :
To manage the people and resources operations of the Trust, ensuring that our staff, volunteers and Trustees are supported by the systems, facilities and culture they need to fulfil their roles safely, effectively and inclusively.

Main Responsibilities :

• Develop our HR systems to attract, support, develop and retain talented people, including leading our systems and culture around equality, diversity and inclusion, performance management, volunteering, learning and development and internal communications. 

• Provide oversight and supervision of the Trust’s buildings, operational facilities, vehicles and other shared assets, ensuring that our people have the facilities and equipment they need to fulfil their roles. This includes the landlord responsibilities associated with Folly Farm Centre.   

• Ensure the effective development and maintenance of IT systems and infrastructure that supports our digital transformation, knowledge management and effective functioning of the Trust’s day to day operations.  
• Continuously develop the Trust’s Health and Safety, safeguarding and data protection systems, monitoring and driving compliance to provide assurance of a safe environment for people involved in the Trust’s activities. 

• Continuously develop systems to support the Trust’s effective operations, including project management and resource management systems, and monitor and report on implementation of the Trust’s Strategy Delivery Plan. 

• Support the effective governance of the Trust and the operations of the Board, including organising and supporting meetings, co-ordinating our annual report and AGM and managing the recruitment process for new Trustees.  

• Support the Trust’s procurement and contracting processes, including commissioning legal advice.

• Continuously improve the environmental footprint of the Trust’s operations, to go beyond net zero carbon and address the ecological impact of supply chains.

District Secretary for Administration and Compliance

Do you have the skill, experience and vision to lead in building and maintaining good practice for a newly amalgamated District of the Methodist Church?  We are a collaborative, justice-seeking family of churches, looking for a skilled senior administrator.
lf so, this post may be for you. 

This is a senior leadership position in a merged organisation.

1. Collaboration with the District Chair and the District Secretary for Ministries & Vocations in the leadership of the District, and promoting the values of the District in all work practice.
2. Collaboration with the Mission Area Leads to facilitate support of the circuits in relation to the responsibilities of administration and compliance issues.
3. Responsibility for compliance with all relevant legal, financial, and governance matters, including compliance with the relevant parts of The Constitutional Practice and Disicipline of the Methodist Church, including:
   1. budget and accounting, in partnership with the District Treasurer;
   2. data protection;
   3. lay employment processes;
   4. safeguarding.
4. Working with the District Safeguarding Officers, the District Safeguarding Group and others to ensure safeguarding processes for the District are robust and effective.
5. Responsibility, together with relevant District officers and bodies, for strategy for property and finance across the District, and for its implementation.
6. Enabling the District Property Consents group to fulfil their responsibilities regarding property matters within the District.
7. Coordinating the District Grants Policy and its implementation through the District Grants Committee.
8. Ensuring that the District’s responsibilities for Reconciliation and Complaints are fulfilled, including liaising with the other District Leaders and ensuring the appointment and functioning of the District Local Complaints Officer and District Reconciliation and Complaints Support Group(s).
9. Collaboration with the District Chair and others to ensure good practice in internal and external communication, including through the District Communications Officer.
10. Engagement with the District Policy Committee and the District Scrutiny Group processes and meetings.
11. Fostering good and collaborative working relationships with holders of relevant district volunteer posts.
12. Other areas of responsibility as agreed and assigned by the Trustees. 

Head of HR (Maternity Cover)
Hours: 28 hours per week (flexible working opportunities available)

• Develop and implement HR strategies, processes and services aligned with our overall strategy and vision
• Develop Staff Wellbeing strategy and oversee the Staff Wellbeing Action Group
• Lead the HR function and team and be a pro-active member of the Senior Management Team

The role will work across both businesses following their partnership agreement in January 2023. Both businesses are steeped in the history of Birmingham, with the origins of The Yardley Great Trust Group going back to the 14th Century and SJMT’s beginnings in 1868. The Finance Director role would ideally start swiftly and will take on a largely strategic direction whilst still requiring operational input.

Executive Leadership

Treasury

• Being responsible for each Trust’s Treasury Management strategy and policy to ensure the availability of and flexibility of funding to support the achievement of strategic objectives and reduce exposure

Risk Management

• Leading on the development of risk management strategies and registers, audit frameworks, procedures and appraisal systems for capital projects and all other significant areas of risk.   

Growth and Innovation

• To support the Chief Executive in the development of the Strategic Business Plans in a way that supports innovation and growth in services

ICT / HR

• Leading on the development and delivery of an effective ICT and Telecoms Strategy which supports mobile and agile working and customer relationship management that underpins our drive for excellent business
• Supporting with the development, implementation and review of an effective People Strategy which supports the vision and values of each Trust
• Reviewing the administration of all statutory returns and sector-relevant returns/surveys
• Leading on the annual remuneration review to approve or decline and make recommendations for salary increases
• Taking responsibility for the outsourced payroll and workplace pension scheme
• Overseeing the relationship with the outsourced IT support provider, ensuring optimal support to staff and monitoring performance against contract
• Working with and developing the use of financial accounting software to meet the operational and strategic development needs of the business

• Proven experience at a senior leadership level in a finance environment
• Experience preparing financial business plans, modelling scenarios and sensitivity analysis

Are you an experienced corporate fundraiser with an interest in working in the international development sector? Are you creative, strategic, highly organised, a confident and effective communicator and strong team player? 

We are looking for an experienced Senior Corporate Fundraising Manager to work closely with the Head of Programme Funding to drive new donor engagement and secure sustainable, multi-year funding. If you are seeking a dynamic and engaging fundraising role which offers you the chance to play a pivotal role within a small but ambitious organisation, then this could be the job for you.

You will be an exemplary relationship builder and have experience in developing multi-faceted corporate partnerships (ideally with experience and success in employee engagement, corporate sponsorship, and/or operational partnerships).

The role also line manages the Senior Fundraising Officer post, a position that provides administrative and fundraising support across the whole fundraising team.  Please note that we are a small team and so you’ll need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves to help out team members and to support new business across other restricted income streams.

• To develop the policy and strategy of Motiv8 in collaboration with the Board of Trustees
• To oversee and lead implementation of policies and strategy to deliver Motiv8 strategic aims now in the coming years
• To ensure that Motiv8 maintains and develops policies that reinforce inclusion and diversity in the workplace, that addrss all kinds of harrassment and protect minority and youth groups with whom Motiv8 works
• To represent Motiv8 on behalf of the Board of Trustees, to develop relations with our staff members, volunteers, partnership and stakeholder groups
• To further develop Motiv8 in line with the charity's objectives, to implement necessary change and ensure that Motiv8 exhibits ongoing relevance.
