Your Role 

As Senior River Engagement Officer, you’ll take a leading role in our Community Engagement team – designing and delivering creative programmes that connect people with rivers and inspire action for nature. You’ll manage and mentor a growing team, develop exciting new projects, and secure funding to make them happen. 

Working in one of our operational catchments, you’ll build partnerships with schools, businesses, and communities, while delivering hands-on engagement activities – from citizen science and volunteering to wellbeing initiatives and outdoor learning. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of community engagement at Severn Rivers Trust.

• Lead ambitious engagement programmes – from school learning and family events to volunteering and river health monitoring.

Who We Are Looking For 

This is a senior role requiring proven experience in community engagement and project management. You’ll need: 

• A strong passion for rivers, wildlife, and nature conservation. 

• Experience leading engagement programmes such as citizen science, volunteering, education, or wellbeing initiatives. 

• Confidence in managing and mentoring staff or volunteers. 

• Excellent communication skills – able to engage, inspire, and influence a wide range of audiences. 

• Strong project management skills, including planning, delivery, and monitoring of multi-strand programmes. 

• Ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively across sectors. 

• Willingness to travel regularly within your catchment and work occasional evenings/weekends.

About the role:

The Head of People and Organisational Services is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering the organisation’s people strategy, volunteer programme, and core organisational services. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with Trustees and senior colleagues, the post holder ensures that the organisation has the right people, structures, systems and culture in place to deliver its mission effectively.

The role provides strategic and operational leadership across HR, volunteering, administration, customer service, safeguarding, data protection and compliance. MediCinema is a UK-registered charity dedicated to providing cinema experiences inside hospitals to support the emotional, physical and mental health of NHS patients, their families, and carers. For 25 years, we have brought the power of cinema to hospitals, and in recognition of our impact, MediCinema was honoured with BAFTA’s Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema Award at the 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards.

We build and run fully accessible cinemas within hospitals, screening the latest films at no cost to patients or the NHS. The Role

Reporting to the CEO, this new senior leadership role is central to ensuring MediCinema’s financial sustainability, operational excellence, and people-centred culture. The Director will lead the charity’s finance, HR, and business operational functions, ensuring robust systems, compliance, and strategic alignment with our mission.

This is a hands-on role for a values-driven leader who thrives in a collaborative, purpose-led environment and is passionate about improving patient experiences through innovative service delivery.

This role will be managing external HR and IT consultants and supported by a part time (1 day per week) assistant.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy

· Participate in strategic and business planning processes, supporting the CEO and trustees to develop the strategic plan

· Serve as a key member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) contributing to the strategic direction and day to day management of the organisation.

Finance

· Lead the finance function, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, management accounts, and statutory reporting.

· Ensure robust financial controls and compliance with regulatory requirements.

· Manage cashflow, reserves, and risk, supporting strategic financial planning.

· Lead on financial reporting to the Board and relevant committees.

· Oversee payroll, pensions, and financial administration.

· Managing the annual audit process and liaising with auditors

· Liaising with tax specialists on VAT, corporation tax and other matters as required.

· Liaising with the Treasurer on all key financial matters on a quarterly basis

Business Operations

· Support the commissioning of new MediCinema sites, including project planning and stakeholder engagement.

HR and People Development

· Lead on strategic workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and talent retention.

· Embed inclusive HR policies and practices aligned with MediCinema’s values.

· Provide support and evolve processes to strengthen employee relations, performance management, and wellbeing.

· Support line managers in developing high-performing, motivated teams.

· Ensure compliance with employment law and HR best practice.

· Work with the external HR consultant on HR admin,including due diligence, onboarding and recruitment.

Governance and Compliance

· Maintain up-to-date policies and procedures across finance, HR, and operations.

· Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and safeguarding requirements.

· Support the CEO and Board with governance processes, reporting, and policy development.

The Person

Experience and Background

We are seeking a strategic leader with experience across finance, operations, and HR — ideally within the UK charity or public health sector. You may have worked in healthcare, education, or social impact organisations, and bring a strong understanding of compliance, governance, and people leadership. Candidates with a relevant background in SMEs may be considered, but will need to demonstrate a commitment to quickly developing the specialist knowledge required by charity regulations and an aptitude for operating within the third sector.

You will be comfortable working in a hands-on, collaborative environment, with a deep respect for MediCinema’s mission and values.

Skills and Qualifications

· Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or AAT)

· Strong understanding of HR, IT, risk management, and governance in small teams

· Proven experience managing budgets, audits, and accounts (Quickbooks experience ideal)

· Excellent project management and strategic planning skills

· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and mentor others

· A proactive, organised, and solutions-focused approach

We are actively recruiting for a permanent HR Advisor to join a prestigious and growing organisation based in South London. Working closely with the Head of HR and HR Business Partners, you will have responsibility for providing a high quality, first line generalist HR advisory service to a specific business area, providing up to date and informed HR guidance and support on HR policies, processes and systems.

You will support on complex cases and assist Employment tribunals where appropriate as well as supporting with end to end employee lifecycle processes, whilst providing a proactive and responsive recruitment service for managers and assisting with the development and implementation of Human Resources policies and procedures.

The Avenues Youth Project (AYP) is an exceptional West London youth club that guides disadvantaged children and young people to explore and develop new skills, connect with their peers and our trusted staff, and find their confidence. We offer fun and meaningful after-school and holiday activities led by trained youth workers. Our facilities include training kitchen, music recording studio, podcasting studio, arts and craft room, sports hall and classrooms.  

We currently have an active membership of over 1,100 children and young people, and are open 6 days a week, 48 weeks a year. All activities are free-to-access, and we raise the £1.2m we need each year through donations, grants and fundraising.

We are a team of 30 employees of which 18 are variable‑hours youth workers.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the HR Manager is a standalone role and will lead on the operational delivery of HR initiatives and will manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle across our youth centre, ensuring the organisation remains an inclusive and supportive employer. 

The HR Manager will also manage HR systems compliance, while supporting strategic projects that embed best practice and innovation across the organisation.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

• You’ll use your excellent written and verbal skills to support the HR Advisor and HR Lead to deliver a great HR service across the whole charity.

• You’ll use your great attention to detail to ensure letters are produced in line with our HR processes for internal staff and external candidates and that relevant processes, spreadsheets and systems updated.

• You’ll be the lead on administering compliance processes during the recruitment and onboarding process, using our HR system, collecting associated paperwork and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure good practice data collection and protection.

• You’ll bring your experience of providing great administrative support to a team, in an HR environment or other organisational context. You’ll have great attention to detail and pride in creating timely, good quality written communication.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a proactive and organised HR Administrator to join our People & Culture team at Start Network. This is a great opportunity to play a hands-on role in supporting the employee lifecycle in a purpose-driven, global organisation. Working closely with the HR Operations Specialist and wider People & Culture team, you will coordinate recruitment and onboarding, maintain accurate HR records and systems, support payroll administration, and act as a first point of contact for everyday HR queries.

You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy juggling priorities, working with detail and data, and collaborating with colleagues to deliver a positive and well-run people experience. The Head of HR is a new role for the organisation. Over the last few years, the organisation and our staff team have grown significantly. To enable us to achieve our mission to give all young people a home, it is crucial that we make a significant shift in our HR and people plans so that staff and managers have all the support they need to succeed in these challenging times. To do so, we need to make a strategic shift with our HR capacity, improve our people systems, and make NHYC a great place to work for our 70+ strong staff team. You will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer to develop and implement NHYC’s People strategy for 2025-2030, taking on a varied role around key areas of organisational development and HR operations. You will need to build strong and trusting relationships with staff from across the organisation and act as a key advisor to the Executive Team.
