As the Director of People & Culture, you will lead the People Directorate teams of HR, Education & Reception, as well as supporting the organisation through significant organisational change as we launch our 2025 - 30 strategy.
You will contribute as a member of the Senior Management Team to the corporate management of the Hospice and to decision-making processes to enable effective day-to-day management of the Hospice. This role will play a role in driving culture development, change and improvement, translating the charity’s strategy into HR plans to be designed and executed.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week; Hybrid role - up to 2 days from home.

Key Responsibilities - Strategic Leadership
- Provide guidance and challenge at executive leadership team level to ensure that the organisational design and resources are aligned to the efficient delivery of objectives
- Provide assurance to the Board of Trustees that St Joseph’s is fully compliant in how we manage our people, representing the senior Management Team on the HR Subcommittee, Remuneration Committee and attending Board meetings

I am urgently seeking an Interim People Services Manager for a renowned Humanitarian Charity based in the City of London for a period of 4 to 6 months. The role will pay a rate of £300 to £350 per day through an umbrella company, depending upon experience and will report to the Head of people Services. Job Context
The Operations Lead will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of Lepra’s UK operations. Role Purpose
As Payroll Lead, you will manage HOST’s global payroll operations — ensuring that all staff, contractors, and hosted partners are paid accurately, compliantly, and on time.
You will bring structure, care, and precision to one of HOST’s most essential services: ensuring the people driving climate and social action receive the financial stability they need to do their best work.
This role supports both internal HOST staff and hosted partners, liaising across HR, Finance, and Community Support to deliver secure, compliant, and efficient payroll management. You will also help develop new systems and processes as HOST expands internationally, ensuring our operations remain smooth, transparent, and aligned with local legislation.
Core Responsibilities
1. Payroll Management
- Manage all aspects of monthly payroll for UK and international employees, contractors, and hosted partner staff.
- Prepare and process payroll changes (new hires, terminations, pay adjustments) in line with internal procedures.
- Ensure timely submission of payroll information to Finance and external providers.
- Reconcile payroll each month, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.

About the Role
Working alongside the Managing Director, you will play a key role in supporting the day to day running of the BDD Foundation while leading on key projects during this three month cover period. The primary focus of this role will be to oversee and manage the Overcoming BDD Programme (OBP), ensuring effective delivery, volunteer support and supervision, and a high quality, compassionate experience for all participants.
In addition to the Overcoming BDD Programme, you will provide project management support across other core initiatives, including the Schools Project, Conference planning, and any additional projects that form part of the charity’s priorities during this period. You will work collaboratively with the team to maintain operational efficiency, uphold the charity’s values, and contribute to activities that extend our impact and support the BDD community.
This role also involves HR responsibilities, including overseeing the full employee life cycle of staff and volunteers, reviewing and updating charity policies, and managing any people or volunteer related queries or concerns. Knowledge and understanding of HR processes is desirable, but not essential - this can be discussed at interview or offer stage should it not already be part of your skillset.
