About you
We are seeking an organised individual with demonstrable experience in providing professional HR support, and a desire to grow and develop in a varied and interesting generalist role.
You will have a background in HR, and ideally, additional experience supporting in wider business support, such as office administration, IT or operations.
You will need to have good interpersonal skills, and be confident in your IT skills, and have experience using Microsoft Office and a database or People Management software.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of People, the HR Officer will primarily:
- Act as first point of contact on general HR & operational queries for the staff team and administer relevant files and email inboxes
- Champion staff well-being, delivering our staff well-being events and socials, and supporting in the deliver of new well-being ventures
- Support in the recruitment of diverse and effective staff
- Support in the onboarding, training and development of our staff team
- Ensure that the operations contractors, including, cleaning, IT, security and facilities are fulfilling agreed service levels
- Look to where the People team may further develop and improve its processes and support for the staff team and Society, either to improve their own capabilities or those of other staff
Working pattern
35hrs, Mon-Fri | We are currently running a trial of the 4-day work week; staff can opt to work 32hrs over 4 days each week at no loss of salary.

Purpose of the job:
This newly created HR Officer position will support the Head of HR in a busy HR function potential for a busy charity. The role will concentrate on the operational and administrative aspects of HR and will also act as a first line support to staff but will also provide administrative support to the Operations Manager. The Diocese of Truro is going through a major period of change. This new and broad-ranging role has been created to support both our staff and clergy manage the many different people aspects of this change as well as strengthen our existing HR offer.

Everyday millions of older and disabled people are denied the social care they need. Most local authorities can’t meet the growing demand for care, none are confident they can meet their legal duties in the future. This affects all of us, we will all need social care at some point.

About the role
This is an exciting time to join our organisation. We have a new strategy and are growing quickly including across our senior leadership team. We have nearly tripled in size and income since we started operating in April 2020 and we anticipate that this strong growth will continue for the duration of our next strategic period. Access Social Care are an organisation of thirty-six people, and this is a new role in the People team coming at a period of growth to drive a thriving charity and help shape its future.
This is a fast-paced role whose emphasis is on policy / process / systems improvement as well as advising colleagues and managers across the organisation regarding all aspects of the employee lifecycle. You will work with people at all levels of the organisation supporting the People Director on strategy work streams as the organisation continues to grow and evolve.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all day-to-day HR processes within the employee lifecycle to ensure staff are supported appropriately and legislative responsibilities are fulfilled
- Work alongside the People Director to map or review processes across the employee lifecycle, identify blockers and seek to implement solutions that create efficiency and clarity
- Advise on employee relations and discuss complex or sensitive cases with the People Director to decide the best course of action, ensuring that cases are resolved in a timely manner or be a trusted advisor to our managers with their people challenges
- Coordinate the delivery of projects, process and policy improvements as defined and prioritised within the People Plan, leading on workstreams as outlined by the People Director
- Support the People Director in sourcing training and learning solutions, and evaluating training
- Provide practical upskilling and training to managers and employees in HR practices and policy
- Coordinate recruitment efforts at Access Social Care, ensuring compliance with employment laws and providing guidance to managers. Manage the recruitment cycle and administration process from job ads to onboarding
- Support staff engagement activities across Access Social Care in conjunction with the People Director. These may include but are not limited to the following initiatives: staff survey coordination, and wellbeing events
- To be a super user and actively promote the use of the HRIS system (Bright HR) and ensure that electronic staffing records are updated and maintained accurately in accordance with GDPR
- Dealing with cyclical and ad-hoc data reporting and requests for information including data analysis
- Contribute to effective payroll administration ensuing information is shared with the Finance Officer in a timely manner, and collaborating with the People Director to address and rectify any issues and process improvements
- Work within the parameters of GDPR, ensuring data and information is protected and handled correctly
- Support the People Director as required in any duties which you could be reasonably expected to perform in line with this job description

The role will be based in our Resources, Systems and Culture Team and will take charge of the day-to-day financial activities for the UK as well as administrative support to other members of this global team.
Whilst primarily a finance role you will also have opportunities to provide administrative support across a range of business functions, including HR and IT. You will be line managed by the Finance and Systems Manager and will also work closely with the HR Manager, both of whom work in the UK (partly from our Frome office and partly from home). This is a great opportunity for someone who has some finance admin experience to build on this as well as gain experience of other related business functions in an international charity.

Key Responsibilities
You will work on a wide variety of tasks which will include bookkeeping and bank reconciliations, as well as providing general administrative support to the team. You will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across a diverse international team.
Finance
Taking charge of day-to-day financial activities and administration:
· Processing invoices and staff expenses for authorisation and payment
· Dealing with supplier queries
· Managing weekly payment run process
· Processing credit card expenses
· Recording all income and expenditure in QuickBooks
· Maintaining all supporting documents for any transactions posted onto QuickBooks
· Reconciling bank and credit card statements
· Assisting with month end procedures including balance sheet reconciliations
· Processing donations arriving in post
· Other finance administration tasks as necessary
General Administration
Take responsibility for providing efficient and effective administrative support across a range of business functions, including HR and IT. For example:
· Managing and maintaining business related systems, for example our online HR system and SharePoint
· Using templates to prepare standard paperwork
· Recruitment, new joiner and training administration
· Arranging meetings and notetaking
Person specification
This is primarily a finance role so the successful candidate will need to have experience of finance administration and basic bookkeeping. Experience of other areas, such as HR or IT, is not essential as training will be given. You will have excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise a busy workload and work both independently and collaboratively across a diverse international team.

This is a 6-month FTC with amazing benefits, the role is a part-time (21 – 28hrs per week), London based hybrid role. As Recruitment Coordinator you will pay a key role in the People Team, providing a professional, comprehensive, and proactive recruitment service. You will be the first point of contact for recruitment related queries for managers and candidates, be responsible for the full recruitment cycle, and support the HR Officer with the onboarding process.
Key accountabilities:
Successful management of the recruitment process and actively support recruiting managers at all stages of the recruitment process
Accurate record keeping of all recruitment and related activity
Work with recruiting managers to create recruitment packs and agree timelines, panels and routes to attraction.
