Founded by Queen Alexandra in 1912, Alexandra Rose Charity (ARC) has a long history of supporting people experiencing poverty in the UK. Our vision is for everyone to have access to healthy and affordable food, and our mission is to give families on low incomes access to fresh fruit and vegetables in their local communities whilst advocating for systemic change to address food insecurity and health inequalities.

Since 2014, ARC has pioneered the use of financial incentives to improve access to healthy food and combat food insecurity through our Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg projects. To date, we have supported over 11,000 families, including over 20,000 children, to access £3.5 million of fresh fruit and vegetables in their local communities.

To deliver this scale, we work with 73 children and family centres and community organisations, 69 market traders and independent retailers, two fruit and vegetable vans and one fruit and vegetable delivery box scheme. We estimate that our projects have generated a total economic value added of almost £9 million for the local economies of the eight locations where we work: five London Boroughs, Barnsley, Liverpool and Glasgow.

As part of our new five-year strategy, we want to grow our reach and impact as part of a national movement where Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg projects are embedded in local and national policies and seen as a key intervention for transforming the diets of communities across the UK.

About the role  

As we launch our new 5 year strategy we are looking for an experienced Head of Finance & Business Services to help deliver our mission and support the growth and consolidation of the charity. As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will play a key role in implementing our new strategy as well as managing risk.

You will take overall responsibility for the organisation’s financial management, working closely with the Chief Executive and the Treasurer.

You will provide effective finance business partner support to other functions within the charity to support its fundraising, operations and development.

You will also be responsible for the line management of the Finance & Business Administrator, working with the Chief Executive to both oversee and support the business services function of the charity.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Project Manager – Apprentice to join the Estates team. Your role is to contribute to the successful delivery of a number of projects and small works, ensuring the scope and benefits are achieved as planned.

Role Requirements

• Collaborate with the Project Manager to precisely define project scope and objectives, eliciting technical requirements to formulate detailed specifications, cost assessments, and delivery schedules, while maintaining close coordination with stakeholders to ensure alignment on goals and key milestones.
• Contribute to the development and presentation of key project documents for stakeholder approval and governance.
• Assist the Project Manager in overseeing capital and operational projects and other minor works throughout the organisation, taking ownership of the successful delivery of assigned projects and tasks throughout the project lifecycle, raising any issues / risks and reporting on a regular basis.
• Work within agreed budget and available resource, reporting on forecast, spend and raising any variations to the Project Manager.
• Build and maintain good relationships with all project stakeholders using a variety of communication methods.
• Track and assess project performance and outcomes using relevant tools and methodologies to collate and analyse data to report on project performance.
• Identify and monitor project risks and issues; and plan and implement responses to them.
• Assist in planning and coordinating the resources – human, financial and material – required for effective project delivery, working with the Senior Engineer to advise on resources from in-house Maintenance Team for up-coming projects.
• Apply quality management systems and tools to ensure project outcomes meet all legislative, regulatory and local standards.
• Participate in post project evaluation to document lessons learned, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist the Project Manager with collation of all Estates compliance certificates and service report onto the compliance register.
• Provide input, as required, to monthly compliance reports.
• Provide updates on required remedial works, as necessary.

The Community Development & Health Programme Manager is responsible for the ongoing strategic development of the programme area, as well as maintaining oversight of the contracted delivery across its broad but integrated remit.  The Programme Manager also has a responsibility to be visible in the communities we serve locally and to attend meetings, events and community profile raising within and without normal working hours, as needed.

This role leads the operational line management and direction of a multidisciplinary team of Project Managers, Seniors & Development Workers, who are themselves are responsible for designing, fundraising for, delivering & evaluating services and activities which cover the needs of the entire community, across the whole age range to meet identified community needs and with a range of VCSE and statutory partners. 

The aim of these activities, services and events is to deliver support, develop learning, and build VCSE infrastructure, capacity and sustainability to deliver individual and community changes for those facing challenges. These currently include community events; community hub development; youth and family work; emergency and community food provision through community supermarkets, East Sussex and Lewes District Food Partnerships; community capacity building; VCSE infrastructure support; healthy lifestyles activities and community-rooted approaches to addressing health inequalities; access to green, open and blue spaces for health and wellbeing; development of active travel; addressing environmental issues and climate change at a community level. 

This work is achieved through the coordination and development of appropriate partnerships, and initiating and delivering activities and services through community development approaches which are community-rooted and build stronger, healthier and inclusive communities.

With responsibility for bid writing in support of SCDA’s charitably funded activities and services, and collaboration on larger tenders for SCDA community initiatives & services, the post holder will ensure quality of provision and that those projects run to agreed budgets and schedules.

A new role, the Fianacial Accountant will support the Head of Finance in managing GWT’s day to day finances as well as providing routine financial advice to the head office staff.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role is a lead for ensuring financial compliance within UK head office including Fundraising and Gurkha Welfare Advice Centre (GWAC) and will ensure the effective financial management of UK activity through to trial balance and ensuring accuracy of monthly reconciliations.

This is a hands-on financial accounting role needing a practical, problem solving approach and has the opportunity to add real value to the team.

Key duties and responsibilities

This role’s primary responsibilities will be as follows:

• Lead the month-end processes for UK activity (head office, Fundraising and GWAC) to ensure that deadlines are met through:
  • overseeing the timely and accurate financial transaction processing in the finance system;
  • reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts and resolving discrepancies in a prompt manner;
  • ensuring the accurate and timely reconciliation of all bank accounts; and,
  • end to end reconciliation of income through the fundraising CRM to finance systems (including Department, Restriction and Trading).
     
• Be responsible for the timely payment of invoices by the Finance Assistant.
   
• Draft monthly finance data dashboard and quarterly management accounts including variance analysis, liaising with budget holders as required, and assist in preparing annual budgets for UK activity.
   
• Lead for financial compliance in the UK including raising awareness through events such as the Charity Fraud Awareness Week, and reviewing all financial policies on annual basis.
   
• Manage and support two part-time team members through training, professional coaching and development.
   
• Deputise for the Head of Finance on matters related to financial management of UK operations including representing at the senior management meetings.
   
• Support the Head of Finance in the year-end process and preparation of financial documents for annual audit.
   
• Proactively seek opportunities for continuous improvement within financial systems and accounting processes and controls.

Operations Officer 

Location: Home-based, with a minimum of every other week travel into our London Office (Islington)

Responsible to: Governance, HR and Operations Manager

Salary: Point 27-30, £30,116- £33,083 (a London Allowance will be applied to employees who live in London)

I am working exclusively with a national homeless charity on a permanent People and Operations Manager role, paying £43,000 per annum. The charity’s aim is to end homelessness and ensure everyone has a place to call home. They do this through providing grants to individuals and organisations working with people experiencing homelessness, supporting frontline workers across the UK, and advocating for change.

The organisation is based in Holborn and offers hybrid and flexible working to all staff, going into their central London office 1-2 days per week. The charity currently has around 25 employees but is looking to grow over the next couple of years, so it is an exciting time to join the charity. The purpose of this People and Operations Manager role, paying £43,000 per annum, is to shape the charity’s internal systems, culture and operations.

Some of the key responsibilities of the job include:

• Acting as a trusted HR generalist for all people-related matters, including policies, performance management, employee relations, benefits and compliance.
• Supporting the design and implementation of a people plan that enhances staff experience, wellbeing and culture across the employee lifecycle.

About the role

This role will support Kinship to operate as an effective charity by ensuring effective day-to-day operations and seamless delivery of the People function at the charity.

You will bring your People leadership experience, attention to detail and excellent communication skills to the role. You will be structured in your approach to ensure that day-to-day issues are handled while also working to improve processes and systems. You will be credible with senior management and able to articulate and balance the trade-offs of a People leadership role.

You will be able to balance multiple competing priorities and prioritise effectively, A positive mindset is key to being part of the team, as is thinking creatively to problem solve and being empathetic to colleagues. Key Responsibilities include:

• Work with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and the Executive management team to design, develop and embed a high-quality HR function to support the employee life cycle.

• Responsible for ensuring all policies, procedures, and processes relating to people and culture, work effectively, efficiently and in line with legal requirements.

• Responsible for all People matters, ensuring they are handled fairly and consistently in line with policies and procedures.

• Support and advise line managers on People, EDI and change management activities, including promotions, disciplinary, capability and grievance procedures.

• Organise line manager training to ensure line managers understand their responsibilities and apply policies consistently.

• Responsible for the candidates’ recruitment experience. Ensure candidates receive a consistent and professional recruitment experience.

• Responsible for job descriptions, person specifications, recruitment packs and job adverts.

• Ensure offboarding processes are robust and implemented consistently to safeguard the charity’s assets and to comply with Data Protection rules.

• Lead on the delivery and growth of the ‘Kinship Friendly Employers’ scheme, driving growth in the scheme and the number of bronze, silver and gold partners

• Ensure Kinship role models ‘Kinship Friendly’ employment practices and seek opportunities to share these as examples with other HR professionals.

• Support fundraising efforts with corporate supporters who are ‘Kinship Friendly Employers’

Essential criteria includes:

• HR qualification or significant demonstrable experience.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Service Manager, based in our North-East region, to oversee our Anti-Trafficking and Modern Slavery Outreach and Accommodation support. This role is to manage and maintain high levels of service delivery. You will directly oversee coordinators. You will work with those Coordinators to ensure that; contractual KPI's are met, service users are supported effectively, staff are developed, and internal processes and procedures are followed to a high standard. The NE Service Manager will be the main point of contact for regional events and responsibilities. Where required, you will also play a role in implementing service and system improvements.

Responsibilities:

Service Management

• Oversight, line management coaching and support of Coordinators including effective supervisions and annual appraisals.

• Ensure all Service Users are being supported effectively and assist Coordinators with problem-solving and managing incidents, safeguarding issues, and complex cases.

• Ensure all staff are supported and managed effectively by their Coordinators, this includes leave, performance, wellbeing, and training.

• Communicate with the Salvation Army Modern Slavery team where necessary.

• Regular visits to all accommodation sites

• Work collaboratively with People and Culture staff to support and manage staff as needed.

• Organise and run the on-call rota for the service.

• Oversee other services or a team in the absence of Coordinator (ie. Holiday or sickness).

Safeguarding

• Ensure your team works proactively and closely with the Safeguarding Lead to keep all Service Users and Staff safe from harm.

• Ensure that the safeguarding policy and reporting system are strictly adhered to.

Health & Safety / Facilites Management

• Ensure lone-working safety procedures are implemented and sustained.

• Work closely and collaboratively with Facilities, LifeSupply, Operations, Devices, and People and Culture on this area.

Assurance & Compliance

• Ensure all KPIs and standards are met and tracked by staff including referrals, exits, RNAs, and accommodation standards.

• Ensure all Weekly Overviews, checklists, audits, and other quality control systems created by the Assurance team are used consistently and processes are adhered to.

• Manage Service User or external complaints with the support of Senior Service manager when necessary.

• Ensure all month-end procedures are followed by staff, and information submitted effectively.

• Manage all performance issues raised by the Assurance team effectively and proactively.

• Ensure the Service is prepared for internal or external inspection & auditing from CQC, The Salvation Army, etc.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Work closely with the Head of Service in developing local partnerships and networks.

• Represent Causeway externally at events.

• Proactively engage in Networks and Forums you are assigned to.

Financial Control

• In collaboration with the Senior Service Manager ensure spending is in line with the MSVCC contract, policy, and budget.

• Communicating with the finance team appropriately with regards to month-end, financial requirements for the service, and problem-solving.

• Sign off expenses and spend in-line with expenses policy.

Training, Learning, & Development

• Support other Services & Innovations e.g. LifeSupply & Bright Future.

• Support the work of the Communication Department as requested.

• Develop and deliver training in conjunction with the People & Culture team.

Organisational Responsibilities

• As the most senior member of staff in the region, be a point of contact for the region and be a representative of Causeway’s values and culture amongst the staff team.

• To take the lead on any new projects that may take place, asked to do so by LM.

• To support any regional events such as staff meetings, training, external events etc.

• Attend relevant team meetings management meetings, and local team meetings.

Key responsibilities

• Office and IT Management: Oversee day-to-day office operations and ensure a productive working environment, including office management and maintenance, supplies, IT systems, and coordination with external providers.
• Health and Safety: Conduct and support risk assessments, maintain incident reporting systems, and act as a trained fire warden and first aider (training provided), ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and audits.

You will have demonstrable experience in and/or an understanding of health and safety management, as well as experience of managing relationships with vendors. The ideal candidate will have experience of supporting HR processes and activities, reviewing and improving processes and experience developing and implementing policies and procedures (desirable).

With excellent attention to detail and exceptional administration skills, you will be confident and committed to suggesting improvements and in developing initiatives that will continually improve efficiencies and ways of working throughout FNF. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with people internally and externally and will demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism. The People and Operations Officer will have a working knowledge of MS Office and strong digital administration and CRM skills (ideally Salesforce). You will be highly organised with the ability to mutli-task and prioritise to meet deadlines whilst being adaptable and flexible.
