BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND PURPOSE OF THE POST
As part of our ambitious plans to significantly increase private fundraising, we aim to achieve a step-change in our income from partnerships and philanthropy.
As Major Giving Officer, you will:
- Collaborate with the Global Specialist in Major Giving (based in the UK) on the delivery and implementation of an ambitious major-giving programme for HI UK, encompassing trusts & foundations, major donors and corporates, in line with UK and Federation priorities.
- Research and identify opportunities, write proposals and secure five- and six-figure major gifts from a diverse and sustainable base of major givers from the these income streams.
- Provide excellent cultivation of prospects to produce committed, long-term donors.
- Manage existing partnerships and donors to a high standard.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General
- Work closely with the Global Specialist in Major Giving and the other Major Giving Officer to further develop major giving as a sustainable income stream in the UK, including launching and running a Capital Campaign.
- Manage data relevant to your role, keeping our database (CRM) up to date and accurate, and mining it for new prospects.
- Build your knowledge of the wide range of our work – both thematically and geographically – so you can communicate and present with expertise to donors and prospects.
- Attend relevant networking groups, external events and meetings to make contacts and represent HI UK.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of high-quality cultivation events for prospects and donors.
- Any other activities commensurate with the level of the post, as may be required.
Trusts, foundations and high net-worth individuals
- Update existing research and carry out new research to find our top trust, foundation and high net-worth individual prospects, prioritising six-figure and multi-year donors.
- Connect directly with targeted prospects through networks, introductions and events.
- Build relationships with prospects through personalised communications: face to face, on the phone and written.
- Deliver excellent relationship-management to existing partners and donors to ensure loyalty and year-on-year renewal.
- Produce high-quality and engaging proposals and presentations for meetings with prospects and donors.
- Write and submit approximately two high-quality proposals per month for five- or six-figure sums (multi-year donations preferable) from targeted trusts and foundations.
- Source information about each project’s impact and write and submit regular reports according to the agreement with each partner organisation or individual.
- Ethically screen our prospects, in line with our ethical standards and processes.
- Liaise with the Federal fundraising team in Lyon for project content.
Other duties
- Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with HI UK colleagues, the Federal fundraising and communication teams, and Major Giving counterparts in other HI national associations in Europe and North America.
- Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations and high standards.
- Keep up to date and adhere to any changes in legislation, regulatory procedures, innovation, best practice and industry standards in relation to private fundraising.

About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead and oversee the strategic delivery of Care4Calais’ operational (direct aid provision) work across all regions. This is quite a newly created role that will play a central part in shaping the charity’s growth, resilience, and day-to-day effectiveness—ensuring our humanitarian aid reaches those who need it most.
The COO will work closely with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and Trustees, to develop internal systems, guide operational teams, maintain consistency across all projects, and strengthen our digital communications, training, safeguarding, and volunteer engagement. You will also play a key leadership role in fostering innovation, implementing policy, and coordinating multi-regional delivery across the UK and Northern France.
This is a remote-based role, but regular travel to operational sites in Calais and around the UK is essential to ensure quality, cohesion, and morale across our field teams and volunteer network.

The Head of Program reports to and works closely with the Country Director to provide strategic program direction for DRC’s ALT (Algeria, Libya and Tunisia) response in a manner that is accountable to the communities we work with. The HoP is expected to contribute to the quality assurance of program implementation across the project development and implementation cycle. The position ensures that DRC’s projects significantly contribute to meeting immediate humanitarian needs, transitioning from relief to longer-term rebuilding and recovery. The HoP is a key senior position in the DRC country set up, responsible for cross-cutting programmatic information management, sound design of and overseeing assessments, monitoring and evaluation, and ensuring that information collected is reflected upon, used to improve ongoing projects, and is incorporated into consistently high-quality grant proposals and reports. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
Programming Strategy & Development
- Constant in-depth analysis of humanitarian context, trends, gaps, challenges and opportunities
- Participate in country level strategic planning, lead the annual review process and contribute to the sustainable management of program with a continual eye to new program development that addresses displacements and meets the needs of beneficiaries
- As a key pillar of the overall country strategy, develop/define the country programming strategy designing process in a collaborative way in order to ensure program appropriateness and accountability among the country program team.
- Write/Review and monitor the Program Strategy document based upon a clear needs/evidence driven approach, DRC’s core expertise and a large stakeholders analysis
- Foster synergies between program areas and promotes an integrated approach

Program Implementation & Coordination

- Ensure quality programming by coordinating the technical support provided by the Regional Office and HQ, by developing M&E tools and indicators and other quality improvement initiatives
- Adopt an evidence-based approach that see the dissemination of lessons learned and best practices within DRC country and Region teams, to donors and to other stakeholders when relevant in order ensure synergetic programming and cross-program collaboration in ALT and in the whole region
- Supervise monitoring and evaluation of the operations to ensure the overall implementation is in accordance with agreed work plans, donor agreements and humanitarian accountability framework
- Ensure Information Management is embedded with DRC program and data are managed in a confidential manner
Fundraising, Grant proposals writing & reporting processes
- Ensure up to date donor mapping and pursue funding opportunities in all DRC competence areas, and coordinate the capacities of the program managers and SMT to identify and materialize opportunities

Program staff Management and Capacity Building
- Effectively manage the program team in the coordination office in Tunis: Project Development and Quality Manager, Protection Manager, Humanitarian Mine Action Operation, ECREC Manager, Partnership Coordinator and the Program Trainee
- Ongoing development of team composition and structure to ensure that is fit for purpose, develop Job descriptions/Terms of Reference, follow up program staff related recruitment processes and orientation of staff. Proactively seek to increase the numbers of national staff members in the Programs team.
- When needed, draft and/or review scopes of work to hire and manage technical consultants, including review for technical efficacy and contract budget
- Development of overall staff competence through leadership, training and coaching of technical and management key program staff

Donor liaison, Partnerships and Representation
- Represent DRC’s program to funders and potential donors
- Cultivate key relationships that enhance DRC’s visibility, credibility in ALT

About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to at least 5 years' experience in relevant field. Moreover, we also expect the following:
Required
- Minimum 7-8 years of progressively responsible experience in program management, leadership, and design in countries of conflict or post-conflict, including working on protection and mine action programmes.
- Minimum 4 years of experience working in managing emergency operations, including 2 years at senior management level and at least 2 years in the Middle East/North Africa.
- Demonstrated experience and skill in proposal development, budget development, program implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
- Master’s degree in International Development and/or Humanitarian Assistance, Project Management, or any other related field
- Demonstrated experience in managing migration programmes and cross-border programming.
- Proven experience in effectively coordinating with National Governments, International and National NGO partners and a variety of working with and coordinating with a variety of donors including SDC, ECHO, DANIDA, UN agencies, EU FPI and DG.
- Demonstrated commitment to apply an age, gender and diversity (AGD) and Conflict Sensitive approach to programming.

The MMC is a leading source for independent and high-quality data, research, analysis and expertise on mixed migration. The MMC aims to increase understanding of mixed migration, to positively impact global and regional migration policies, to inform evidence-based protection responses for people on the move and to stimulate forward thinking in public and policy debates on mixed migration. The MMC's overarching focus is on human rights and protection for all people on the move. The three overall objectives of the MMC are:
- To contribute to a better, more nuanced and balanced understanding of mixed migration (knowledge)
- To contribute to evidence-based and better-informed migration policies and debates (policy)
- To contribute to effective evidence-based protection responses for people on the move (programming)
The MMC is a global network, with regional hubs in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America hosted in DRC regional offices, and a small central team in Geneva. The MMC is part of, and governed by, DRC. While its institutional link to DRC ensures MMC's work is grounded in operational reality, it acts as an independent source of data, research, analysis and policy development on mixed migration for policy makers, practitioners, journalists, and the broader humanitarian sector. The 4Mi data collection initiative
One of MMC’s flagship project is the (4Mi). 4Mi collects data through in-depth structured interviews, focusing on protection risks and the conditions and experiences faced by people on the move, as well as their motivation for migration. 4Mi fills information gaps around protection and vulnerabilities with a view to informing policy and humanitarian programmatic response as well as enhancing sector understanding and knowledge on migration dynamics.
MMC Asia and the Pacific
MMC is currently operational in Asia through several data collection initiatives. MMC Asia and the Pacific (MMC AP) is collecting data in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Pakistan and Türkiye on a number of different initiatives focusing on various topics, including: understanding of mixed movements and the associated protection risks for refugees and migrants; perception of irregular migration among migrant communities; smuggling of migrants and refugees in Southeast Asia; and onward movements of migrants and refugees from Pakistan and Türkiye.
About the job
Under the direct management of the MMC Regional Manager for Asia and the Pacific, the 4Mi Specialist will lead the implementation and technical development of the Mixed Migration Monitoring Mechanism initiative in Asia and the Pacific.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
Oversee operations and management of the 4Mi project in Asia and the Pacific
- Technical supervision of the Information Management Specialist and 4Mi Officer
- Oversee the recruitment and training of 4Mi monitors; oversee their day-to-day management.
- Manage the procurement of partners to collect 4Mi data and manage those partners.
- Ensure that the team regularly provides updated, clean datasets and all 4Mi deliverables are met
- Oversee management of the data collection platform and survey software.
- Maintain duty of care for monitors and contribute to the risk analysis for 4Mi staff and monitors.
- Monitor 4Mi budgets; ensure timely donor reporting and support the MMC Regional Manager in maintaining donor relations.

Analysis and dissemination of knowledge

About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 5 years’ experience in survey design and implementation, quantitative and qualitative data collection, and quantitative data analysis. Moreover, we also expect the following:
- Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, or other relevant fields
- Knowledge of regional migration dynamics and previous experience working in the region;
- Experience in project cycle and budget management;
- Experience in team management, and working in a multicultural environment;

- Experience of running marketing campaigns and/or developing content geared towards the British Muslim community.
- Experience in leading audience research projects and translating insights into actionable marketing strategies.
- Significant experience in audience segmentation strategies and personalisation to maximise on marketing performance.
- Experienced in interpreting data to make marketing decisions.
- Hands-on experience of using project management tools such as Asana.
- Experienced in relationship and stakeholder management.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships, communicate effectively and influence a wide range of individuals both internally and externally.
- Significant experience of managing and motivating agencies to drive maximum value from relationships.
- Understanding of charity sector marketing.
- Experience of developing and managing annual plans.
- Good understanding of KPIs and marketing metrics.
