Service Managers are responsible for their services meeting targets and delivering on contract requirements, including providing the data required for contract and organisational monitoring.

The Service Manager role assumes responsibility for all aspects of SWAN’s Dorset statutory advocacy services. This includes a wide range of advocacy including IMCA, Care Act, IMHA, CHC, Carers and Generic advocacy, and advocacy for parents during child protection proceedings.  Our Service Manager is also responsible for the mobilisation and delivery of SWAN’s social value projects in Dorset.

The role requires a positive approach and a high degree of personal responsibility.  The Service Manager is responsible for the Dorset team’s performance.  Service Managers are experienced and inspirational leaders. They have, or are willing to work towards, a level 5 management qualification.

Direct reports:

Team Supervisors & Supervising Advocates

Duties and responsibilities: General

• To work collaboratively with other mangers and assist, when necessary, with providing cover during periods of absence and play an active part in SWAN’s Leadership Team
• Act as the safeguarding lead for the service
• Stay up to date with relevant legislation, changes to practice and wider activities relating to advocacy; to input to policies / procedures (COVID-19, LPS etc).
• Act as a role model for exemplary behaviour, attitude and mindset, embedding a culture of trust and accountability and challenging non-congruency and negativity
• To undertake all training as necessary and stay up to date with Continuing Professional Development
• Support SWAN to ensure that Advocacy Quality Performance Mark practices are business as usual
• Take responsibility for embedding good Health and Safety Practices and adhering to the Health and Safety Policy

Supervision and Development of Direct Reports

• Responsible for the recruitment of their service team
• Responsible for the effective induction of new staff members and support through their induction period
• Undertake regular supervisions and Personal Development Reviews in line with the Company requirements for all direct reports
• Organise and lead regular team meetings, to provide minutes, actions and documentation for each meeting. Team meetings will include professional development and guest speakers
• Deliver training workshops to the team, including lone working, safeguarding refreshers and the Purpose and Principles of Independent Advocacy (Unit 301) in line with Company requirements and maintain records of attendance
• Ensure all team members’ training is up to date and work with the Training Manager to create new opportunities to upskill the workforce
• Undertake all other people management responsibilities for the team in relation to absence and performance management
• Manage disciplinary and grievance issues if and when they arise

Management of Services

• Lead and manage the service in the delivery of outcome focused, issue based, person directed advocacy, in line with the relevant legislation for the advocacy discipline, regulations, codes of practice and internal policy and procedures
• Mobilise and manage local social value projects
• Responsible for the effective triaging of referrals and allocations of casework after considering prioritisation of cases, current caseloads and team members’ skill set
• Provide temporary cover for own team’s case work during periods of absence
• Complete accurate recording and reporting of all service data
• Ensure the timely completion of high quality commissioning report narratives and case studies
• Work proactively with the statutory services to promote the service, problem solve and uphold the agreed engagement protocols
• Communicate and negotiate effectively with a wide range of people, including commissioners, health and social care professionals and voluntary sector staff
• Identify risks in delivering the service and ensure compliance with risk management procedures
• Ensure the effective management of de-escalating client issues and handling of complaints
• Attend stakeholder meetings, forums and networks

Qualifications Required:

• Diploma in Independent Advocacy Qualification (City & Guilds level 3 or 4) or willing to work towards.

In 2021, we launched the MMM model of psychological entrapment and suicidal crises (PESC-M), which now underpins everything we do. The Thalidomide Trust is seeking a collaborative, inspiring and empathetic leader to join as our next Director of Health & Wellbeing, providing leadership to a committed and expert team as we work to deliver the best possible support to thalidomide survivors as they enter older age.

The Thalidomide Trust was established as a registered charity in 1973 to support individuals living with disabilities caused by their mothers taking thalidomide during pregnancy. Today, our support encompasses financial grants and guidance, together with comprehensive health and wellbeing support (including emotional support). We also undertake research to better understand the needs of our beneficiaries and provide vital information resources for professionals working with them. Secure funding means we can focus entirely on how to improve the lives of our beneficiaries.

We assist 430 beneficiaries, most of whom the Trust has worked with since they were children. We are often the first port of call for any issues they face. As our beneficiaries are now in their 60s, we must continue to evolve to meet their changing needs. The Trust is approaching a crucial transition point - effectively becoming an older person’s charity over the next 10-20 years, as the group’s needs become ever more complex and diverse. We must ensure we are ready to provide much-needed support to our beneficiaries as they face the typical challenges of aging that impact them more as thalidomide survivors, as well as the unique impacts and accelerated aging caused by thalidomide damage.

Our current Director of Health & Wellbeing is taking on the Joint Chief Executive role with our existing Executive Director. This means we need a new Director of Health & Wellbeing to join in October this year to lead our fantastic, 12-strong team of health & wellbeing professionals though this transition period. They will ensure they have the resources and skills to support our beneficiaries into this next phase of life, maintain and build on our award-winning culture, contribute to the development of the Trust’s next Five-Year Strategic Plan, and lead the implementation of the health and wellbeing objectives and deliverables within the plan.

This is a fixed term position to November 2025.

This exciting post will be working with children who have experienced or been affected by domestic abuse. Focusing on standard and medium risk cases, this role will provide practical and emotional support to children and young people, with an emphasis on early intervention and awareness raising.

In addition, there will be the opportunity to work with the team and manager to develop and deliver new group work provision for young people.

Key tasks and responsibilities include:

· To provide high quality, specialist support to children who have lived in a domestically abusive family.

· Enabling young people to access statutory and other services where appropriate.

· Managing a caseload and working proactively to support young people and their families.

· To deliver educational, time-bound, 1 to 1 support sessions for children and young people.

· Provide specialist support to child victims, with a focus on empowering young people to make informed decisions.

· Ensure that children and young people have a thorough understanding of what constitutes a ‘healthy relationship’.

· Undertake risk assessments and implement robust safety management plans.

· Give practical and emotional support to children affected by domestic abuse.

· Work closely with multi-agency partners and the wider Wiltshire team to ensure that we maintain a focus on risk management and safeguarding.

· Work with your team and manager to develop early intervention resources.

· Engaging with and supporting the MARAC and MASH process, to ensure that the voice of victims is heard.

This role will be based in our Trowbridge office, with a requirement to travel across Wiltshire. FearFree supports staff to work flexibly, with an ability to work in a hybrid fashion, both at home and in the office.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of low to high risk children and young people, predominantly through face to face appointments but also utilising virtual technologies.
• Complete an initial assessment of the child’s needs so that you can identify and plan the support needed to address issues and prevent any problems from escalating.
• Assess, manage and review risks to service users, colleagues and self, according to agreed procedures.
• Assess the needs of the child and devise appropriate support and safety plans with due regard to the dynamic nature of risk.
• Work with colleagues, health and social care professionals and multi-agency networks to evaluate caseload needs and the progress that has been made.
• Work directly and proactively with children and young people to help them to understand the impact that Domestic Abuse has had on them.
• Ensure personal safety and that of service users and other staff at all times.
• Respond to emergencies and crises with a focus on the child’s wellbeing and safeguarding.
• Plan and implement activities to promote self-awareness, confidence and participation for children.
• Provide person centred, trauma informed support to all your cases, to empower the young person to make informed choices.
• Enable service users to participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of services.
• Work effectively in partnership with multiple statutory and voluntary agencies to enhance service delivery, safety and safeguarding.
• Respond to a child’s individual learning needs and style, adapting practice as necessary.
• Work closely with schools and education establishments to ensure support offered to service users is appropriate, planned and coordinated.
• Keeping the child’s voice central to all support and decision making wherever possible: taking the time to talk through and work with the individual child’s understanding around safeguarding and why we need to share certain things.
• Act as duty officer for Wiltshire, responding to incoming calls, logging referrals and making assigned outgoing calls, according to the duty rota. Duty shifts will be 9 – 5 in the Trowbridge Office.
• To understand and work effectively within a multi-agency framework, consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse, in order to reduce the risk for service users and their families.
• Accompany service users, when needed, to other relevant agencies and support them in their interactions with these agencies.
• To work alongside colleagues to deliver a whole family approach.
• Be proactive with your line manager to carry out periodic case reviews.
• Respect and value the diversity of the community in which the services work in, and recognise the needs and concerns of a diverse range of survivors ensuring the service is accessible to all.

Groups and Activities

• Work with the Childrens and Families Team Manager to develop and deliver, a group work intervention for young people.
• Assist with recruiting children and young people to be involved in the development of groups or activities, providing them with on-going support.
• Run groups for children and young people following a planned programme.

General

• Work at all times in accordance with the requirements of the Lone Working Policy and Procedure.
• Attend and contribute to team meetings.
• Update written and computerised records with accurate and clear information.
• Contribute to effective team working with a flexible and pro-active approach, including cover for other team members’ holidays and sickness.
• Undertake agreed training and keep updated on changes in legislation, policy and best practice.

Purpose of job:

As Senior Fundraising Strategist you’ll play an integral role in defining the fundraising strategies for cross organisational campaigns and targeted fundraising and engagement activities.  Working as a senior fundraising strategist within our Campaign Strategy & Planning team, you’ll direct cross-disciplinary project teams from across all levels of the business to deliver target beating initiatives from Red Nose Day to new product development initiatives that drive new revenue streams.  You’ll help establish data and insight led planning processes, ensuring strategies are well informed and robust.  You’ll ensure test and learn is embedded in any project and that rigorous analysis is built into measurement and evaluation processes.

Key responsibilities:

· Work with the Head of Campaign Strategy & Planning and key colleagues across the Fundraising team, to support the development of annual fundraising and engagement plans, establishing planning; monitoring and evaluation processes for agreed activities, specifically but not limited to organisational campaigns and new income driving initiatives.

· Directly lead agreed cross-organisational multi-disciplinary project teams to robustly plan, deliver, monitor and evaluate agreed campaigns and projects.

· Support the Head of Campaign Strategy & Planning to roll out an agreed fundraising planning process, ensuring campaigns and project strategies are developed using internal and external knowledge, data and insight; are planned in good time to deliver maximum impact and are responsive to audience and market requirements and trends.

· Support Head of Campaign Strategy and Planning to embed new ways of working within team and across Comic Relief, working with the core campaign planning team, the wider fundraising team and colleagues particularly in Production and Funding to continually improve processes 

· Inspire and facilitate creative and innovative thinking and action, working with colleagues, including our Fundraising Innovation Lead, to ensure our fundraising campaigns and projects represent our disruptor brand and speak to new external innovations appropriate to target audience segments

· Devise and / or make use of a suite of data and insight tracking and reporting tools that are leveraged to drive optimisation and efficiency as well as informing new approaches to maximise supporter acquisition, development and retention and associated income opportunities

Essential criteria

· A working understanding of fundraising, having recently devised and implemented successful fundraising strategies and initiatives 

· Experience of analysing data and insights to inform decision making; with proven abilities in financial modelling and interpretation of data and insight into actionable plans and initiatives

· Knowledge of segmentation and audience targeting strategies, including experience of using audience listening and audience targeting tools and services to define an audience first approach to planning initiatives

· Experience of planning; monitoring and evaluating major campaigns or projects, incl financial modelling, objective and KPI setting and preparing relevant documentation that underpins the delivery of activities

· Experience of working as part of project teams, taking the lead where appropriate

About the Role

• Located at a 24-hour supported housing service in Clapham, we provide high quality self-contained accmmodation for 15 women who have experienced homelessness and multiple disadvantage.
• The aim of the service is to provide a therapeutic environment in which women feel safe and can flourish, enabling them to move on into independent, permanent accommodation. The accommodation also includes overnight safe spaces.
• In this role, you will provide direct support to all the women, as well as holding a small case load of residents who you will keywork. 
• You will work closely with support workers and the in-house psychologist.
• You will model person-led, psychological, gender, and culturally informed support, will be skilled at building trust and you will be a great team player.
• The post holder will undertake 8-hour shifts, normally Monday to Friday but with flexibility for weekend working, covering the hours 8am to 8pm. This is a 1 year fixed term contract.
