Responsibilities and Person Specification:

Working alongside two other Advice and Support Managers, this role will share responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of Independent Age’s new Advice and Support Service, and lead on Evaluation and Impact. The service is delivered by telephone, email and webchat and involved a duty service, appointments and casework, targeted at older people in or facing financial hardship. We give information, advice and support to a specialist level, relating to Welfare Benefits, Social Care, Housing and other issues.

As Evaluation and Impact lead, you will be responsible for data collection and reporting, outcome and impact measurement, case studies and providing evidence to our Policy and Influencing colleagues. 

You should have experience of managing a high-volume telephone-based information or advice service and strong leadership skills to create a work environment where people can thrive. You will have experience of working within an advice context (ideally AQS accredited) and knowledge of the main issues affecting older people.

Salary information:

Hybrid working in London: £43,812 per year, increasing to £45,019 after 6 months and to £46,227 after 12 months. 

Homebased (with regular travel to London): £39,454 per year, increasing to £40,530 after 6 months and to £41,607 after 12 months.

The Media Communications Manager is responsible for overseeing Independent Age’s media communications programme, including media and PR, social media, celebrities and stories. They will lead the team to secure profile-raising coverage for our work in a range of print, online and broadcast media outlets including national news, consumer, sector-specific, and regional titles, oversee our organic social media and ensure our channels amplify our work and reach older people, decision makers and other influential stakeholders.

The Media Communications Manager will build excellent relationships with older people with lived experience of poverty, ensuring the voices of older people in financial hardship are at the centre of everything we do. They will also grow the organisations relationships with journalists, channel owners, celebrities, ambassadors, and other influencers to ensure that our media communications activity supports our organisational objective to tackle poverty in later life.    

You should have broad experience of developing and implementing innovative, successful profile-raising plans (across digital and traditional channels).  You will bring an ability to work both proactively and reactively, and experience of handling reputational or crisis issues. As a Young Adult Intervention Coach (YIC), you will be responsible for the assessment and implementation of tailored intervention coaching plans for each at risk young person on your caseload. You will work to achieve progression outcomes for each young person that includes reducing mental, physical, and emotional harm and supporting each young person transition to positive, thriving lifestyle both on a one-to-one basis, and in partnership with other individuals and agencies involved in the lives of each young person.

Your purpose is to identify, disrupt, challenge, and support young people to move out of harm and prevent further involvement in harmful activities. This will involve targeted street work, specialised one to one harm reduction and life skills coaching. 

Alongside this you will work with intervention frontline colleagues in tertiary intervention such as knife and gun crime crisis situations as well as working with partner agencies.

You will have robust frontline experience of working with young people, including experience in engaging, assessing, and delivering interventions designed to support young people to build personal resilience and move away from harm and violence. As an IVA you will:

• Work directly with adults and children who have been impacted by crime, assessing support needs and completing risk assessments, providing immediate and ongoing support and advocacy including home visits

About the role:

We are pleased to offer you an exciting opportunity to join our advice team at Citizens Advice Richmond as a Manage Your Money Lead.

In this role you will be working alongside volunteer advisers, providing holistic advice and support to households in financial crisis and provide advice around income maximisation, managing fuel costs including leading on our Energy Advice Project, benefit take-up, applying for grants to help with costs arising from the cost-of-living crisis, reducing indebtedness and budgeting and money management to help to prevent future financial crisis.

The purpose of this role is to reduce the stigma for low-income households around needing and accessing financial support and give people confidence to seek cheaper alternatives to contract costs around, for example, telephone, tv and broadband.

The project includes support on preparing personal income and expenditure details which can be used by residents themselves when negotiating with debtors on repayment plans.

This work will have a focus on community-based outreach work, working alongside organisations such as foodbanks and community centres. It will aim to prevent future or recurring hardship.

Purpose

Kids in Need of Defense UK is a collaboration between four award-winning, UK based not for profits that specialise in children’s immigration and asylum law. We partner with lawyers and law firms across the UK to provide the highest quality legal advice and representation for free to undocumented children and young people. Central England Law Centre (CELC) is the UK's Largest Law Centre and the lead partner in the KIND UK collaboration. The successful candidate will be working with Central England Law Centre (CELC) on the KIND UK project.

This is a key role for which we’re seeking a suitably qualified and experienced immigration adviser. They will be responsible for providing an excellent frontline service to KIND UK clients, leading on all matters relating to the assessment and triage of new referrals to the service. 

The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities:

• Assess referrals which have been flagged for legal advice by KIND UK administrators, for merit and suitability for the KIND UK project
• Assess and agree the appropriate level of service, making the initial triaging decision on referrals
• Provide internal legal advice on referrals with legal complexities
• Provide one-off advice to prospective clients via telephone and/or email, where appropriate
• Make onward referrals to other suitable immigration advisers and other services, where appropriate

Personal Specification:

Essential:

• OISC L3 or admitted as a solicitor or barrister in the UK or equivalent right to give immigration advice
• Significant post-qualification experience in child, young person and adult immigration and nationality law
• Broad and confident knowledge of UK immigration and nationality law and policy
• Experienced and confident in making independent and swift decisions on legal issues in immigration and nationality law

Desirable:

• Experience of working in a triage function
• Experience of working with vulnerable clients
• Experience of working with social workers and other children's services professionals

Based at one of the military bases within the UK (relocating to a new site every two years)

Our Services Welfare Officers provide vital welfare support to the Armed Forces to both new recruits and service personnel at military bases within the UK and overseas.

As a Services Welfare Officer you will manage our WRVS facility on a military site. This will involve:

- Providing an independent, confidential and sensitive welfare support
- Supporting service personnel on a one-to-one basis
- Helping them find solutions to personal and practical issues
- Using your judgement to signpost them to other support agencies or our military colleagues where appropriate.

You will be provided with free one-person military accommodation based on site in the UK with the opportunity to be considered to work abroad at a later stage. Your food and drink is also subsidised!

About You

We are looking for applicants with broad experience in working with young adults and more experienced service personnel in a welfare setting.

You may have previously worked in youth and community work, social work, counselling, education or healthcare settings.

Ideally you will have:

- Experience of working with young or vulnerable adults
- Previous experience of effective networking with other agencies
- To be prepared to live in one person accommodation (provided)
- The flexibility to live anywhere within the UK or overseas for prolonged periods of time, i.e. two years
- Basic IT skills
- A full, valid driving licence
- A valid UK passport

You will also need:

- To demonstrate flexibility to relocate at short notice, be self-motivated and approachable
- To demonstrate proven excellent written and verbal communication skills
- To possess time-management, planning and prioritisation abilities
- The ability to demonstrate confidentiality when dealing with sensitive issues
- A good track record of working effectively within a team

A relevant qualification in an area such as youth work, social work, teaching or similar, would be beneficial to your application, as would knowledge of the military environment but this is not a deal breaker!
