As part of this commitment, RBL oversees Branch Property Trusts (BPTs)—separate charitable assets held on trust for specific local purposes connected to RBL Branches. These include both properties and proceeds from property sales, with approximately 775 BPTs in total, with around 400 holding property, and 375 representing sale proceeds valued at over £65m; held on trust for specific local charitable purposes connected to RBL Branches. These properties provide the RBL with a vital local community footprint. BPTs are separate charities and must be accounted for independently. RBL remains legally responsible, with decision making delegated to the Branch Property Trust Trustee Committee (BPTTC) to manage conflicts of interest.
Purpose of the role:
To contribute to the BPTTC’s discussions and decisions, to act as a Subject Matter Expert and to act as an impartial and objective guiding mind, supporting and advising on matters pertaining to assets held by RBL on trust, ensuring insight, challenge and assurance is provided on all BPTCC matters.
Independent Committee members are valued for their support, challenge and the advice they can provide to the Executive team and as such understand the roles of Trustees and Executive.
Who we’re looking for:
To support the BPTCC in its independent decision making, we are seeking to appoint two Independent Committee Members with technical skills and experience in the following areas:
· A legal expert with knowledge of property and/or charity law.
· A person with a commercial or operational background in the property sector.
Key Responsibilities:
· To ensure coherence to and support RBL’s Strategy to 2035, to meet the changing needs of the Armed Forces community and reinforce the bond with our society.
· Help to ensure the BPTTC makes decisions which adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, charity law, and the governing documents of the appropriate BPTs in question.
· To bring an impartial and independent perspective to the committee's discussions, helping to improve the quality and objectivity of decision-making.
· As relevant to the BPTTC, to collaborate with RBL’s Executive team and Trustees committee members to develop and review RBL’s strategic goals, plans and initiatives.
· To support the BPTTC to ensure that RBL complies with all laws, legislation and corporate governance standards.
· To review and approve corporate policies and procedures relevant to the BPTTC.

Our Charity
North Surrey Domestic Abuse Service (NSDAS) supports anyone affected by domestic abuse and their children living in the boroughs of Elmbridge, Spelthorne and Epsom and Ewell. We provide free, confidential and independent advice, skilled practical help and ongoing emotional support and information, regardless of sex, race, ability, gender, religion or income level.
Historically the service was provided as part of Citizens Advice Elmbridge (West). We have operated as an independent charity since April 2024 (charity number 1203855) and this is an exciting time to help shape the strategy and direction of the organisation.

The Role

About Youth ESOL:
Our award-winning ESOL project offers English language classes to young people at a wide range of levels. This provides vital skills, opportunities and social contact and is crucial for enabling young people to do well at school or college.
About the Role:
CARAS is looking for Reading Group Volunteer to support our face-to-face study programme for young people.
The reading group is in Streatham and is an important element of a study programme for young people aged 14 to 18 who are out of formal education. The timings of the reading group sessions are as follows:

Monday afternoons 2pm to 3pm
-
Wednesday mornings 11am to 1pm.
Volunteers are required to attend either one of both sessions. Volunteers are also welcome to stay and support the more traditional English language classes either before the reading session on Mondays or after the reading session on Wednesdays.
Students will be supported to read at length and complete challenges that are adapted to their ability level.
The reading group aims to foster independence and a joy of reading among the young people and requires volunteers to learn about the young peoples' interests in order to help them select an appropriate text.
The ESOL teacher will provide volunteers with tips to support reading and understanding for emerging learners of English, such as phonics and elicitation strategies.
Volunteers will work with 1-5 students, mostly reading out loud with them or helping them to decode unfamiliar language.
Please note that ESOL classes do not run during school holidays, and we follow Wandsworth Council term dates.
Volunteer tasks and responsibilities:

Providing learners with one-to-one or small group support within the Reading Group sessions;

Helping to set up the classroom and provide learners with classroom resources;

Contributing to debriefs to inform the ESOL teacher how each student found the lesson/task and the students’ areas of greatest challenge and success;

Time Commitment
Usually there are six Board of Trustee meetings and one AGM per year. In addition, Trustees are expected to be part of a Board sub-committee.

Being a Trustee
IRMO’s Board of Trustees is made up of six to nine Trustees, who work together to ensure the charity is run properly. Designability is a national charity that, for over 50 years, has created equality of opportunity for disabled people by removing barriers to independence, enabling them to live the life they choose.
Following a person-centred design approach, and by including disabled people at each point of the design process, we ensure their ideas and lived experiences are taken on board and that what we create reflects people’s needs as well as products and services they want to use. We are best known for the iconic Wizzybug powered wheelchairs for very young disabled children. To date, they have been loaned to over 1,400 children, typically aged between 14 months and 5 years, across the UK completed free of charge thanks to the support of our generous donors.
Our Trustees actively contribute to the Board of Trustees by giving firm strategic direction to Designability, setting overall policy, defining goals, setting targets, and evaluating performance against agreed targets.

The Structured Intervention Support (SIS) service offers support for people with high and complex needs.
You will be assisting service users who experience mental distress in one-to-one settings:
-help to resettle in the community on discharge from hospital
-help to develop strategies to improve their quality of life and reduce their dependence on statutory services
-provide personalised key work support to enable people with complex mental health needs progress and maintain independent living.
We are looking for volunteers who can support people with activities for a minimum of 1 day per week. Activities such as:
-Escorting people to appointments/outings/activities or events
-Organisational and administrative tasks – help with budgeting; understanding/applying for welfare benefits; letter writing and form filling; arranging activities/appointments; planning the use of other services such as shopping.
-Supporting people to maintain their homes – reporting/organising repairs; organising a move; signposting and referring to services and activities.
-Ad-hoc support

Tullie is one of the UK’s leading independent museums. It has been a vital community asset since 1893. The museum welcomes over 200,000 visitors through its doors every year and is recognised for its first-class visitor service and has a national reputation for the quality of its award-winning exhibitions and learning programmes.
It is one of the most significant museums in the north-west and has been run as an independent charitable trust since May 2011. Tullie has embarked on an ambitious, phased capital development programme - Project Tullie. It has now completed the first two phases and will be commencing the third phase in Autumn 2025. The Project is planned to continue over the next 10-years and will transform the museum and surrounding buildings into a welcoming and contemporary space fit for the next 100 years.
Tullie is looking for four new trustees to provide strategic and inspirational leadership to the charity as it seeks further growth and delivery of its charitable objectives.
The museum is seeking applicants with experience and/or skills in the following areas:
- Curatorial / Museum Leadership
- Finance
- Fundraising
- Digital / Marketing
- Education
What Tullie needs:
- A commitment to understanding and supporting the Museum’s mission.
- Strategic vision; good, independent judgment.
- Ability to think creatively and willingness to speak your mind.
- Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of Trusteeship.
- Active role in fundraising (national and international opportunities) and sharing support for the charity through personal and professional networks.
- An interest and passion in environmental issues.
- Someone who can become Chair.
- Someone who has an interest in or connection to Cumbria would be desirable.
Time commitment:
- A minimum of four board meetings per annum in person (currently taking place on a Friday afternoon).
- Annual Board awayday in person.
- Attendance on at least one committee, which is likely to be four meetings per annum (depending on the committee, these maybe online).
- Attendance of at least one quarterly meeting of our Community Board (this may be online).
Remuneration: This is a voluntary position & as such does not pay a salary. Reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
Term of office: an initial 3-year term.

We are now seeking new Trustees to join our Board and help guide the next chapter of our work. Trustees play a crucial role in setting our strategy, safeguarding our mission and ensuring the organisation remains focused, effective and sustainable.
We are particularly looking for a Trustee with a background in finance, accountancy or financial decision making to join our Finance Committee.

• be able to exercise good independent judgment and if necessary to make difficult recommendations
• work effectively as part of a team
• have the time and flexibility to respond to the demands of the charity
• be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality, equality and data protection
• represent Citizens Advice professionally at all times
