PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The Wellbeing Coordinator will play a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being of children and young people attending our camps. They will assess the social, emotional, and developmental needs of children and young people attending camp to determine the support needed during the camp experience. They will work alongside volunteers and colleagues to implement support strategies at camp that meet these needs.
They must assess, respond to, and escalate safeguarding concerns. The successful candidate will be a registered Children's Nurse with experience in CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) or a special interest in children's mental health. They will work closely with camp staff, healthcare professionals, and volunteers to create a nurturing environment that supports the diverse needs and will contribute, when appropriate to nursing / clinical knowledge to ensure a safe and effective service.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Over The Wall seeks an individual passionate about the well-being needs of children and young people who use our service. You will also be a qualified nurse and occasionally use your clinical knowledge and skills to support the OTW Nursing Team when necessary.
Knowledge and expertise:
- Apply the basic principles of child and adolescent development and theoretical knowledge to work with children, young people, and their families.
- Sensitively relate to children and families of diverse backgrounds.
- Establish effective relationships and interactions, using age and developmentally appropriate approaches, to identify children and young people’s interests, strengths and vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to identify health and wellbeing issues for specific groups of children/young people and for individuals.
- Work with families, professionals and children and young people to identify and plan for their psychosocial and safeguarding needs at camp.
- Work with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement integrated individualised care plans, encompassing interventions and/or strategies to support children/young people’s and families camp experience.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to establish a camp environment in which children/young people feel safe, welcomed, respected and encouraged.
- Attend camp as a member of the Support Team, with a specific focus on behaviour, social and emotional needs (including mental health), and safeguarding.
- Supervise, mentor and support volunteers and staff in managing campers’ psychosocial wellbeing and behaviour at camp.
- Work collaboratively with the Nursing Team and the Clinical Team to ensure integrated holistic care.
- Ensure systems to monitor camper psychosocial wellbeing at camp are followed.
- Liaise with parents/carers and professionals as appropriate to support campers’ experience at camp.
- Deliver training and supervision around psychosocial issues, behaviour and safeguarding.
- Attend the relevant multidisciplinary meetings to contribute to coordinated assessment and support, raise any concerns and seek advice.
- Monitor and review the impact of interventions.
- Maintains and updates own clinical expertise.
- Takes every reasonable opportunity for maintaining, developing and acquiring competencies and skills for self-development.
- Provides support and guidance to Camper Recruitment Team and other staff around wellbeing and determining camper suitability.
- Leads the discussions with families and campers' wellbeing/psychosocial teams to clarify any issues/concerns and assess the suitability of the campers for camp.
- Ensures the provision of care is in accordance with OTW polices & procedures.
- Ensures high standards of care planning and documentation.
- Works autonomously to provide specialist knowledge to inform sound decision making.
- Contributes to the allocation of campers, taking into consideration individual camper needs and dependencies.
Camper Engagement:
- Develop informative, engaging, and relevant pre-camp communications for campers and their families.
- Collaborate with colleagues to provide creative age and developmentally appropriate methods for engaging children, young people and their families in the development and evaluation of services.
- Advocate for the needs of children and young people.
Record Keeping and Administration:
- Maintain accurate, factual, and contemporaneous records of camper/family contacts and interactions.
- Ensure personal information or observations about individual children/young people are appropriately shared with colleagues to support integrated multidisciplinary care.
- Record and report all concerns relating to needs assessment or safeguarding children to the appropriate member of staff.
- Keep objective and contemporaneous records of contacts, interventions and outcomes for campers and be able to utilise this information to inform future assessments and practice.
- Represents the organisation within internal and external networks.
- Promotes the corporate image of OTW to all individuals, groups, and organisations.
- Demonstrates professional attitude in dealing with campers/families, visitors/relatives, and colleagues, maintaining good relationships.
Networking:
- Develop strong and collaborative professional links within health and social care.
- Develop strong relationships within SeriousFun Children’s Network.
- Work alongside the Clinical and Recruitment Director, Nursing Coordinator and the Camp Director, as well as the wider staff team and clinical volunteers to ensure that care, treatment and service needs are met.

Information management:
- Provides reports as necessary.
- Collates as required quantitative and qualitative information.
- Analyses, interprets and presents data to highlight issues and risks, and support decision making.
- Maintains data quality standards when using IT systems.
Resource management:
- Ensures the efficient and effective use of stock, provisions and equipment within delegated budgets.
- Ensures adequate supply of clinical equipment at camp, supporting the warehouse and logistics operative.
Physical, mental & emotional effort:
- Travels within the UK and spends significant time away from home at camp and head office.
- Manages unpredictable work pattern and load.
- Demonstrates a flexible approach in working practices in order to meet the changes in service needs and emerging demands.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- Registered Children’s Nurse with current NMC (or equivalent) registration.
- Degree.
- Evidence of recent CPD.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with children and/or young people.
- Minimum of 3 years post-nursing qualification.
- Experience in responding to and de-escalating challenging behaviour.
- Experience in undertaking risk assessment.
- Understanding of the developmental, social, emotional and practical impact of serious illness on children/young people and their families.
- Experience in assessing and/ or supporting mental health.
- Understanding of current child protection/safeguarding law and effect disclosure management.
- Able to travel to range of locations.
- Full driving licence.

Location:

The Role
The Youth Development Coordinator is responsible for the development and delivery of our youth development programme for young refugees and asylum seekers.
You will be focused on ensuring our programme activities achieve our outcomes, are in line with our strategy and identify areas for change and development under the direction of the Head of Services. Job Description
To be responsible for coordinating, planning, and delivering our youthwork programme in Brent, ensuring you are focused on achieving our outcomes and impact for young refugees and asylum seekers – and working within our current strategy, youth development strategy and implementation plan. Our current youth work activities are:

2. To manage the Brent Youth Development Team
· Line manage Youth Development Workers
· Supervise volunteers to enable them to support activities with young people
· Assist the Head of Services with the recruitment and induction of staff and volunteers, ensuring young people’s participation in the process.
· To ensure excellent monitoring and evaluation
· To have a supportive and wellbeing-focused approach to line management of staff - ensuring regular one-to-one supervision meetings and annual Performance and Development Reviews.
3. To play a key role in the delivery of our weekly Youth Club and Advice and Support Hub. This includes working closely with the Head of Services, Casework Manager and Hub partners and subsequent follow-up actions relating to supporting young people access their rights and entitlements.
4. To play a key role in developing and co-ordinating youth participation work, working closely with young people and the Head of Services:
· To ensure the views of young people are central to the shaping and delivery of all youth activities in Brent.
· to be responsible for ensuring young refugees and asylum seekers are meaningfully involved in participation opportunities – or other relevant projects.
5. To be responsible for ensuring there are adequate volunteers/staff present to safely run each session/trip and to find staff cover in the case of illness or absence.
6. To identify, propose and with agreement from the Head of Services, develop and run new projects in line with our new strategy and implementation plan, meeting unmet need and with advice from young refugees and asylum seekers in Brent and surrounding areas.
7. To ensure targeted outreach to young asylum seekers and refugees, publicising projects creatively and appropriately, including at relevant schools and colleges in the local area.
8. To ensure excellent safeguarding practice, and always follow our Safeguarding Policy, reporting any Safeguarding incidents to the Designated Safeguarding Lead ad ensuring they are informed, and appropriate, timely action is taken.
9. To work with the Impact and Communications Manager to provide content (photos, videos, quotes, case studies) which is safe for and respectful of the young people we support, with the right permissions that can be used as part of communications to our supporters, on social media and as evidence of our work to funders.
10. Ensure activities in Brent are monitored and evaluated in line with the agreed protocols.
11. To build collaborative relationships with partners and referral organisations attending and organising partnership meetings as required.

Listen to Families is an innovative new service to improve prison healthcare by involving families and carers more proactively in the process. A pilot project - the first of its kind - has been running in London for around 18 months. It seeks to create mechanisms and opportunities for families to be heard and influence how healthcare services are delivered and developed.
The service listens to the views and experiences of families, feeds that back to the NHS and providers, makes recommendations about where improvements could be made, and works with them to co-produce solutions with people who have lived experience.
This role holder will set up a similar pilot project in four prisons in the South East – HMPs Elmley, Downview, Huntercombe and Aylesbury. This is an opportunity for someone to join and shape the delivery of the project from the day one.
We're looking for:
• A good understanding of service user engagement practices and methodologies.
• Understanding of the importance of professional boundaries and the complex/vulnerable nature of our service users.
• Knowledge and understanding of the diverse needs of prisoners and their families, including those from marginalised communities.

About you
Experience

Nightlight is Hertfordshire Mind Network’s brand for all of our crisis services, where we provide to residents in Hertfordshire:
- Crisis Centre – 24/7, 365 days a year
- Crisis Helpline – 365 days a year, 7pm to 1am
- Crisis Cafes providing drop-in support – 365 days a year, 7pm to 1am
- Daylight – short term, outreach support

As a senior member of our diverse team, you will work closely to support staff with operational tasks, addressing queries around procedures and policies.
About the Role
You will be
- Responsible for ensuring high quality mental health provision by line managing our Crisis Volunteer Coordinator, and Crisis Administrator.
- A key member of the Nightlight team, ensuring service delivery is safe, equitable and effective; and to be accountable for achieving KPI’s, data reporting to commissioners and the wider Senior Management Team.
- Ensure the delivery and development of quality crisis support services and instilling Hertfordshire Mind Network’s values throughout the provision.
The objectives of HMN’s Nightlight Crisis provision is:
- To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental health crisis in Hertfordshire.
- To increase timely access to help for people experiencing mental health crisis in Hertfordshire, by providing a clear and effective pathway to services provided by HMN and other third sector and statutory providers.
- To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
- To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
- To provide an alternative pathway to people in distress and crisis to support better outcomes and reduce the demand on statutory crisis services, emergency services and A&E departments.

This is a senior, and brand-new role to Refugees at Home. We’re looking for someone with demonstrable experience of helping people find permanent accommodation to come into our team to assist our guests directly and upskill colleagues across the organisation to assist our guests to move on from hosting.
We have ambitious plans to increase the number of guests we host, but this is only going to be possible if we provide ways in which guests can move on from their temporary hosting placements. With increasing numbers of housing providers and advice services being overwhelmed, we plan to develop our own support for our guests who self-refer into Refugees at Home.
The new Housing and Move-on Manager will be able to fully shape the service we offer, working closely with our Placement Team Manager to understand the needs and challenges of our guests. You’ll be working with Placement Coordinators to help them understand and create realistic move on plans for our guests.
You will be building excellent relationships with housing and hostel accommodation providers across the UK to find new ways of finding ongoing accommodation for our guests. You’ll use your knowledge and experience of statutory housing duties to ensure those we host who are entitled to support receive it. You’ll be working with guests and our Placement team to upskill them on avenues to privately renting accommodation.
This is likely to be a role which changes over time, so we are looking for someone ready for this, bringing innovative solutions so that we can ensure that hosting remains a temporary stop gap for refugees.
