Job description

Culturally Responsive Independent Sexual Violence Advocate

 West Mercia Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (WMRSASC)  is looking for an individual who has experience of  the sexual violence sector or an aligned field and a knowledge and understanding of sexual violence and its impacts. 

You will be part of a supportive team that brings together all the skills that WMRSASC has to support survivors of sexual violence 

  • The Culturally Responsive Independent Sexual Violence Advocate will have a caseload, which will include supporting survivors from Minority Ethnic communities.
  • This post aims to identify clients from Minority Ethnic communities who do not access the Independent Sexual Violence Advocacy service, identify barriers to them seeking support, and find innovative ways to overcome those barriers, so that they feel able to access the service if they wish.
  • The role will aim to promote self-referrals and to reach out to Minority Ethnic communities. Making sure that the role meets the diverse needs of the communities. 
  • The role will raise the profile of and promote the Specialist Minority Ethnic Service across statutory and voluntary agencies, and establish positive, proactive, and innovative working relationships with partner agencies to create straightforward referral pathways for clients from Minority Ethnic communities.
