When Bryn Parry, a veteran and eminent cartoonist, and his wife Emma heard in 2007 that people were shouting at wounded veterans at a local public swimming pool, they knew they had to do something. So they started a campaign for dedicated facilities and a movement to change the way we see and support veterans and their loved ones. Over £2M was raised in just 2 months, and Help for Heroes was born.
Help For Heroes is now a national charity with a vision for a society where everyone in the Armed Forces community lives well after service. The charity provides tailored support for physical and mental health to veterans and their families in their homes and communities across the UK. The charity have recently appointed a new CEO, James Needham, who joined in 2018 as their Chief Operating Officer. James has been instrumental in the development of the charity’s 10-year ‘Live Well’ strategy and brings a wealth of industry experience, having previously spent over 15 years working within the hospitality sector for the likes of Greene King and Starbucks.
With a new strategy rolled out, the fundraising team have a refreshed outlook on income generation and Innovation will be key in delivering growth and diversification. This newly created role will report directly to the commercial director and be responsible for developing new products to bolster their existing portfolio, with an opportunity to develop sector leading and ground breaking products. This exciting role has the potential to be career defining.
Working closely with heads of income streams to fully understand their needs and what products are going to work best for them. There is big appetite for innovation within high value as well as public fundraising.
As Senior Product Innovation Manager, you will:
- Create and implement a strategy and initiative for Product Innovation to cultivate new fundraising and commercial products, increasing both revenue and impact
- Crafting a fresh product innovation process and proactively introducing new products to the market
- Support the development of a culture of innovation across the teams actively sharing insight and building collaboration
- Develop a clear process to support innovation and NPD across the Directorate, including timelines and progress points
- Build relationships at Leadership team and Exec level to be able to support product innovation and achieve solutions
Ideal skills and experience:
- Someone who has had a senior role within an innovation function at charity
- Product innovation experience from non-charity background is also of interest
- Strong project management skills
- Demonstratable experience of the testing cycle
- Experienced at running and managing Sprints to develop products at pace

These positions are based either at our Rugby (CV21 3HQ) or London Office (SW1P 1PR) however as these roles are UK field based roles, extensive business travel will be involved, including a requirement to frequently attend the IChemE offices in Rugby.

This is a permanent full-time role based on 37.5 hours per week working Monday through to Friday (core hours from 10:00-12:00 and 14:30-16:00). Flexibility will be required to meet business needs.

Our store manager is the most senior member of our team and will work closely with our retail district managers focusing on leading our people, products and culture, whilst driving sales and creating long term relationships with our customers.
You will be accountable for achieving maximum sales within the shop ensuring that direct costs are kept to a minimum. Using best charity retail practice, creative flair, and an ability to lead by example, you will enable the shop team to create an inviting shop which encourages sales and promotes excellent customer service.
Key responsibilities include maximising sales by maintaining high standards of display and layout in the shop and shop windows, ensuring that stock density is maintained, regular rotation of stock is carried out and that maximum realistic prices are obtained on donated items, in accordance with charity guidelines, as well as Bought in Goods.
Gift aid is a vital source of income from donated goods and you should ensure that this is maximised when dealing with customers and donors, ensuring that excellent customer service is provided at all times. You should also ensure that high standards of cleanliness are maintained throughout the shop including the sales floor, stock processing area, offices and communal areas. You and your shop team will support the Area Manager in suggesting and implementing local initiatives to maximise sales and generate stock donations.
You will also support the recruiting, training and management of staff and volunteers leading by example providing regular updates to everyone involved, sharing good practice and promoting charity procedures and guidelines.

The ‘KitNewCare’ project will focus on the medical specialty of kidney care, due to its large disease burden (e.g. 10% of Europeans have impaired kidney function severe enough to impact their health status) and its significant resource footprint, particularly in the use of dialysis in clinical settings. The main pilot sites are in Poland, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands.
The project comprises several inter-related work packages, with different organisations leading or contributing to each package. These include: developing the knowledge base of sustainability trends, costs, hotspots and solutions across the EU; piloting organisational and workflow optimisations and technological innovations to improve sustainability in kidney care; and upscaling, disseminating and implementing solutions identified through the development of guidance, toolkits and training resources.
About the role

- Coordination with other Work Packages as required.
- Collate information on known process/workflow/pathway optimisations in kidney care.

- Contribute to dissemination of project outputs internally (to consortium partners) and externally, including through co-authoring of papers for publication and conference presentations.
- Provide supervision and mentoring to Sustainability Fellows in kidney care and kidney transplant care.
- Through consultation with relevant organisations, identify high impact prevention and kidney care improvement initiatives from across Europe and coordinate outreach to leading centres/stakeholders to offer assistance with evaluating environmental, social and cost impacts. About the role
Voice 21 is an agent for change, a thought leader in the oracy space, and a continual professional development partner to schools.
