Approved Premises (APs) work with high-risk people released from prison, providing a vital element in public protection arrangements. APs offer a level of contact, support and supervision within the community that is unique within the Criminal Justice System. This is an opportunity to be part of a dedicated, enthusiastic staff team at our male Approved Premises in Battersea, playing a key role in pro-social modelling, rehabilitation and community reintegration for those ready to make positive choices.

Working closely with Probation Officers and other community services such as police, health, housing and substance misuse, we provide a stepping stone from prison into the community.

As a member of the Approved Premises team, you will model pro-social behavior and foster a positive, respectful culture with both clients and colleagues. You will actively engage with residents, supporting communal activities such as meal preparation, and contribute to the delivery of individual sentence plans in collaboration with probation officers, police, and external agencies.

Your role will involve providing administrative and practical support, ensuring daily tasks are completed, and following all operational protocols. You will encourage compliance and enforce rules relating to curfews and drug and alcohol testing as required. Keeping colleagues, multi-agency partners, and management informed is essential.

You will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the health, safety, security, cleanliness, and well-being of the premises and residents, utilizing tools such as CCTV, observation, and direct personal contact. Accurate, timely record-keeping and appropriate information sharing with respect for confidentiality are critical components of this role.

Using your initiative, you will identify and address additional tasks or emerging issues, working within the service to maintain an enabling environment. Adherence to the Approved Premises Manual, Hestia policies, and relevant justice service requirements is expected, alongside consistently demonstrating The Hestia Approach.

This role involves working closely with high-risk offenders transitioning from prison to community life, providing a unique level of daily support, supervision, and tailored interventions. You will empower residents to take responsibility for themselves while maintaining appropriate boundaries and supervision. The position operates on a rolling rota covering early, late, weekend, and night shifts to ensure continuous support and public protection.

The Role

As a Volunteer Officer, you will be responsible for the delivery of the Volunteer Ranger Service in Richmond and Bushy Park. Supporting the current volunteer rangers and training and managing new volunteers, where appropriate. You’ll seek to develop training opportunities and resources.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Volunteer Officer to join the Volunteering Team at The Royal Parks. This role will focus on delivering the Volunteer Ranger Service in both Richmond and Bushy the Richmond Park Volunteer Bus service. The service was started as a trial with a purpose to engage, inspire and inform members of the public about the history, heritage and wildlife of the parks, and is now seen as a growing success. This role is varied and will see the successful applicant working primarily Richmond and Bushy Park, but with regular travel to all of the parks. Your role will be to manage, the current volunteers, induct and train new volunteers where appropriate, and work to grow and develop different opportunities that the service presents. This role will also work with other volunteer groups across the parks helping to deliver conservation groups, corporates and develop new and existing initiatives. The volunteer officer will support the wider volunteer team and coordinators where needed.

This role involves a lot of in park time, working with and supporting volunteers on the ground, coupled with some office time. This role also requires a large amount of weekend and flexible working, with usually a minimum of two weekends a month in the Parks supporting the Rangers on the ground. The ideal applicant will be friendly, open, and enjoy spending time outdoors and have experience working with and managing volunteers, ideally in an engagement, visitor service or conservation setting.

• Help to maintain all tools, equipment and PPE
• Support the promotion of the Volunteer Ranger Service and wider Volunteering activities

About You

To be considered as a Volunteer Officer, you will need:

• Proven experience of working with, managing, leading and training volunteers, especially relating to visitor engagement and conservation

• Excellent people skills including team working, negotiating, problem solving and the ability to be calm and decisive in challenging situations
• To be highly organised with the ability to prioritise a heavy workload, manage tasks simultaneously and perform effectively under pressure

Hours of Work: 14 hours a week (2 days per week) at least one of the days per week at Longfield Hall. We will launch an all-day café (10.30 to 3.30pm) on Thursday 4 September.

Background:

Longfield Hall Trust (LHT) manages the historic Longfield Hall, offering a range of cultural experiences and classes for all ages. Our new Memory Café project aims to support dementia patients and their carers by providing a welcoming space for social and recreational activities. The Café will offer dementia friendly activities (including karaoke, bingo, arts/crafts and immersive theatre/dance shows) to empower dementia patients to enjoy regular social, cognitive and physical activities.

Alongside supporting patients, the Memory Café will create a highly supportive environment for carers. This will enable carers to take some 'time out' while remaining nearby in a safe space where both carers and patients can socialize more widely. Furthermore, the Café will provide access to information about relevant local services, ensuring comprehensive support for all attendees.

We are also providing a dementia care-worker who will support the Memory Café manager and enable us to support a broad range of dementia patients and their carers.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Roles and responsibilities:

• To manage the Memory Café service for people living with dementia and their carers.
• To coordinate and deliver a stimulating programme of weekly sessions of the Memory Café at Longfield Hall together with our collaborators/partners/external agencies.
• To lead the coordination and facilitation of the Memory Café, providing a welcoming and supportive space.
• To undertake assessments, risk assessments and including home visits of new participants to ensure group suitability and engagement.
• To liaise with carers, family members, and professionals to support participant wellbeing.
• To help plan and deliver a range of personalised activities to create a lively and stimulating environment.
• To take responsibility for evaluating the service and report writing.
• To take the lead in the team for the implementation of a comprehensive service of care and support for participants.
• To ensure all sessional facilitators have materials required for sessions by liaising with Memory Café Care Worker.
• To actively participate in the development of improvements for the service.
• To support people with care needs, including those living with mild - moderate dementia and complex needs.

• To understand the changing needs of older people, including those with mild to moderate to advanced Dementia.

• To arrange transport as needed.

• To assist with handling monies for transport and reimbursement

• To provide dementia advice and support signposting and making referrals to external agencies as and when the need arises.

We are looking for an experienced and resourceful Clinical Services Manager (Intake and Allocation), this role will be responsible for leading and coordinating the intake and allocation of clients to appropriate ongoing therapists. This role ensures timely, and client-centred access to help, and plays a pivotal part in maintaining service quality, client flow, and clinician capacity.

The role involves working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, including clinical assessment teams, supervisors and clients to assign clinicians effectively. 

Key aspects of this role will include:

• Ensuring trainees are allocated cases appropriate to their level of clinical experience and training requirements.

Spotlight on Corruption is a small team with outsized impact that shines a light on the UK’s role in corruption at home and abroad.

We build the evidence base for reform through investigative research and extensive engagement with experts and frontline staff, and act as policy entrepreneurs, developing innovative and pragmatic solutions. We disseminate our work through hard-hitting reports and briefings for decision-makers and the general public and follow through with dogged advocacy to shape the narrative, as well as working in a highly collaborative manner to build consensus for reform.

The charity’s staff and budget has grown significantly in the last five years. In addition to this role, the current team consists of an Executive Director, Deputy Director, Senior Policy & Campaign Lead, Senior Advocacy Adviser, Senior Communications Advisor, and Senior Policy Researcher. We are looking to recruit an experienced individual with a strong background in financial management, strategic planning and operational management, to play a central role within our small but dynamic team. The role involves helping the organisation implement our strategic plan and ensure our financial sustainability, as well as developing and overseeing the smooth running of our internal systems and processes, including our governance.

This is a busy and varied role which involves working closely with the Executive Director and other senior staff, leading on all aspects of financial management, governance and HR, line managing Spotlight’s senior fundraiser, and helping with operational delivery and administration.

Key responsibilities:

The Head of Finance and Operations will:

• Ensure that senior management and the Board can make strategic decisions on budgeting and organisational development by providing strong advice on finance and governance

• Maintain effective budgeting and financial management processes, manage our restricted and unrestricted funding, lead on the year-end accounts and ensure that we meet our statutory reporting requirements

• Line manage Spotlight’s senior fundraiser and manage relationships with operational consultants (bookkeeper / payroll provider, IT provider and HR consultant)

• Lead on the financial aspects of grant management including writing and monitoring project budgets, optimising grant terms and conditions for Spotlight, and contributing to our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning processes

• Support operational implementation across the organisation, including smooth day to day management of the administrative needs of the team

• With the support of the HR consultant, ensure that key aspects of HR such as recruitment, induction, appraisals, staff development and pay reviews are conducted effectively and that Spotlight has in place and implements appropriate people policies

• Ensure we meet our obligations as a charitable company, and facilitate the effective governance of the organisation through close liaison with the Board and management and administration of Board affairs

Person specification - Essential:

• Previous work experience in a finance and operations management role, and an ability to apply it to a small charity like Spotlight

• Demonstrable ability to produce appropriate organisational (£700k+) and project-level budgets, provide strategic financial analysis and advice, and oversee the meeting of statutory reporting requirements 

• Clear ability to manage and make the most of grant opportunities, including optimising grant application budgets, and managing restricted and unrestricted funds

• Demonstrable ability to provide wide-ranging operational support including preparing and managing contracts

• Experience of working closely with a Board on governance and strategic delivery

• Proven track record of working across a range of finance and operations tasks in a busy and fast-moving environment

• Highly organised with the ability to plan, prioritise and manage deadlines, with high standards and an acute eye for detail 

• Demonstrable interpersonal skills and a track record of strong team working skills and managing a large workload independently

• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, including fluency in written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate complex financial and operational information clearly

• IT proficiency and knowledge of CRM systems (Spotlight uses Beacon CRM)

Working arrangements:

Full-time or 4 days a week (35 or 28 hours) subject to discussion with the suitable candidate. 30 days of annual leave plus public holidays (pro rata if part-time). Remote working from home required, with regular meetings in London. Flexible working, including a nine-day fortnight.
