The Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Head of Finance & Operations to take ownership of all internal operations that ensure the organisation’s effectiveness, accountability, compliance, and resilience. This is a people- and process-focused role for someone who thrives on structure and order while keeping equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility at the heart of how things are done.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

• Lead the financial function with strategic oversight, supported by an external accountant.

• Maintain governance documents and ensure timely updates and implementation.
• Embed an organisational approach to risk that is equitable, accessible and transparent.
• Act as the organisation’s Data Controller, ensuring appropriate policies and practices are in place to prioritise data safety and security. Work with external legal and data protection advisors to stay compliant with legislation and best practice.

Operations and Systems

• Be the internal champion of systems and processes, ensuring they are streamlined, understood and appropriately used by the team.
• Work with external experts and advisors to implement or refine systems as required.
• Oversee IT, digital infrastructure and tools for hybrid/remote working.
• Ensure all internal processes are designed with EDI and accessibility in mind.
• Lead continuous improvements that balance rigour with inclusion.

External Relationships

• Manage key suppliers and advisors (accountants, HR, IT, legal, payroll) to ensure value, clarity and accountability.

Person Specification

Hours and place of work

• This is a full-time role to be fulfilled over a 35-hour week, ideally within the working hours of Mon-Fri, 9:30am–5:30pm, with flexibility as required.
• This is a hybrid role with one day a week in our shared office space in London (Better Space, 127 Farringdon Road, London EC1R 3DA), the travel costs of which must be covered by the individual. We are open to discussing this arrangement further to accommodate individual needs and preferences.
• Further UK travel will be required on occasion, the costs of which would be covered by Clore Social Leadership.

Terms, pay and benefits

• This is a permanent contract.
• Salary for this role will be ca. £55,000 p/a depending on experience.
• The post holder is entitled to 25 days of annual leave, in addition to UK statutory holidays.
• The office is closed for one week during the winter festive period (25-31 December), providing an additional three days of annual leave in addition to the above allocation.
• You have the option to join our contributory pension scheme. The employer's contribution is 3% with a minimum employee contribution of 5%.

CSAN is the official agency of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference, tackling the root causes of poverty and injustice affecting people in England and Wales. We’re facing a steep rise in poverty and significant pressures on social, economic and church resources. At this time, the Church is called to raise a prophetic voice against poverty and the rhetoric of division and work for the building of a more just society.

In 2021, CSAN launched its strategy to extend the social mission of the Church in a post-COVID society. We are developing the infrastructure of the social action network of the Church in England and Wales, including new alliances for diocesan Caritas agencies, advocacy and migration. As our Senior Officer for Migration, you will help to raise awareness of migration issues from the perspective of Catholic Social Teaching and lead on our Ambassadors Programme against Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery, as well as prepare briefings and campaign responses to Government legislation.

Over the last 20 years, CSAN has established a network of 50 diocesan and direct service charities, with a combined annual expenditure on social mission estimated at £400m, excluding the work of schools and religious congregations. Our members build up local community life in diverse ways, and many of them support individuals in difficulty, including with housing, prison and detention, social isolation, ill-health, violence, disability, employment, care, therapeutic and welfare support.

The key responsibilities of the Senior Migration Officer are:

1. To provide timely information to the CSAN team and the network on UK Government resettlement programmes and legislation on immigration.

2. To support CSAN’s work to improve public policy and practice on immigration, with compelling evidence from our network, and enabling effective participation in advocacy for a humane system.

We are looking for an experienced Community and Corporate Fundraiser to join our team at an exciting period of growth for our charity. Building on our existing relationships and developing new partnerships, you will help increase unrestricted income through community and corporate fundraising initiatives. 

Elayos exists to bring compassion, support and advocacy to vulnerable and isolated birthing people in Birmingham. Our Perinatal Outreach Workers, come alongside, build relationships, listen and equip with the information needed to empower our clients to have a positive and informed pregnancy, birth and postnatal period. 

Our staff and volunteers offer continuity of care as we assist with emotional, practical and physical needs. Elayos values the importance of trauma-informed approaches and seeks to offer this to both staff and clients. Where appropriate, we signpost and collaborate with other organisations to ensure that the greatest range of support is given.

Alongside emotional support, we provide: a baby bank stocking essential equipment and consumables, expert infant feeding support, a small hardship fund for essential items, vouchers to clients at Christmas and toy packs for vulnerable children.

An interest in education governance is warmly welcomed and will be supported through professional development opportunities, but it is not essential for this role.

Advice Manager (Outreach & Data)

The Advice & Wellbeing Team at KCLSU are looking for an Advice Manager (Outreach & Data) to join us in running our vital Advice service for student's at KCL. 

As the Advice Manager (Outreach & Data), it is your role to ensure an effective and efficient Advice service that meets the needs of students and supports the development of the colleagues in Advice. You will do this by developing partnerships across both King’s and KCLSU to ensure more students and staff have a strong understanding of the service. You will also lead on process changes to streamline data collection and impact reporting to ensure our service is constantly improving.

Key responsibilities include; 

• Managing the delivery and development of the Advice Service by collaborating closely with the Advice Manager (Training and Development) and the Advice Manager (Triage)
• Collaborating with the Advice management team to review and improve systems and processes to improve service efficiency and effectiveness.
• Leading the development of the Advice outreach strategy and delivery ensuring it responds to the needs of underrepresented groups while educating students about the Advice service and relevant procedures and regulations. 
• Managing three Student Advisors and support their development and ensure the quality and consistency of advice delivered.
• Leading partnership building across King's and KCLSU to build awareness and collaborative working including leading faculty-specific projects informed by data.
• Leading on service evaluation and impact reporting ensuring that data collection is accurate, consistent and frequent.
• Being a point of safeguarding escalation for Advice colleagues and be responsible for escalating safeguarding concerns appropriately to the Head of Advice.
• When needed, support with complex cases and be responsible for cases being picked up in busy periods.
• Leading Advice involvement in KCLSU activities such as Welcome, Take Time Out, Wellbeing Week, Wellbeing Hubs and cover in times of sickness to ensure a consistent presence of Advice
• Supporting the Head of Advice and Wellbeing to build an advice service that is accessible to all KCL students, for students currently underrepresented in our community profile.

About the Early Years Lunchtime Assistant role 

Based in the Coin Street neighbourhood centre, minutes from Waterloo and Blackfriars stations and on the doorstep of the bustling South Bank, our family and children’s centre puts the child at the centre of their unique learning journey and uses our surroundings as a place for real life learning.  

This provision encompasses a 59-place nursery, holiday play schemes, activity camps, creche facility to support parents to engage in training and support, and our work with external partners as part of our Family and Children’s Centre provision working with families across Waterloo and North Southwark.  

The Lunchtime Assistant will play a key role in supporting in relation to mealtimes, activities, general care and the safety and welfare of children to support the smooth running of the nursery. 

   

To be successful you will need to demonstrate the following 

• Working towards a Childcare or Early Years Education qualification equivalent to NVQ2 or above 

• Previous experience of working within an Early Years environment 

• An understanding of children’s development and learning from 0-5 years and a commitment to the provision of an appropriate learning and care environment indoors and out 

• Experience in maintaining a nursery environment, taking pride in their work 

• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures

You’ll need to be comfortable managing teams and budgets, influencing at senior management team level, and working across different sectors.
