Welcome to Waythrough’s Windsor Road as a Recovery Worker. Windsor Road offers 11 beds to people experiencing mental ill health.  We are a CQC registered residential care home. We offer individual one to one interventions and sessions such as social anxiety, anxiety, finance and budgeting, positive self-image, building self-esteem, support with diet and nutrition, healthy eating, sleep hygiene, DBT skills, building resilience, life skills, stress management etc. We offer a range of activities in our service planner including a daily coffee morning, a ‘here and now’ group,  community gardening, cooking, arts and crafts, social inclusion and family and friends’ days.  We support our residents with daily living skills where this is needed, such as support with shopping and cleaning tasks, this could include prompting or supporting alongside them. We are registered for personal care and support our residents with this when required. We also work closely with other agencies and our residents wider care teams, so good communication skills are required. And of course, all of this is recorded on our information management systems, so good record keeping and documentation is also essential. Our service consists of 8 24/7 Recovery Workers, a Service Manager and Registered Manager. We know that recovery can look and feel very different to each and every one of us. But we also know that if we provide the right support, at the right time, we can inspire recovery nationwide and that recovery is possible for everyone. That’s where you come in. Responsible for helping and inspiring the people who use our services to achieve independence in the community, we’ll rely on you to work with them to come up with a person-centred support plan that will see them achieve their goals and aspirations, as part of your key worker role. Mayhew is an exceptionally special animal welfare charity, and we are looking for an equally special candidate to be our Canine Behaviourist.  Our team ensure that every dog and cat in our care receives the expert and personalised care s/he needs, delivered with the understanding, empathy, compassion and love that every dog and cat deserves. 

Our Home in North-West London accommodates our Kennels, Cattery, Veterinary Clinic and more. Our kennels house up to 15 dogs at any one time meaning that our Canine Behaviourist is able to truly get to know each dog as an individual and directly impact his or her outcomes. We are looking for a hands-on, practical, do-er who has the academic knowledge to understand rescue dogs and the practical experience in a shelter environment to design and deliver the training and wellbeing programmes required to create successful rehoming outcomes for each of those pets.

This role sits within the Kennels Team, reporting to the Head of Kennels. Being a team player, who is good with people as well as animals, is an incredibly important part of the skill set we’re looking for. At the same time, we need an energetic self-starter who can work under their own steam to ensure that every dog in our care is having the best day possible and is continuously progressing on his/her journey through Mayhew to a loving and happy forever home.

As you’ll already know from your prior experience, this role can be physically and emotionally demanding but it will also be hugely rewarding; and that is even more so at Mayhew where this post-holder can really help shape things and where we have a manageable number of dogs in our care. Our Canine Behaviourist will:

• Love dogs and be passionately committed to the achievement of each one’s best possible outcome
• In-take Assess all dogs coming into our care and be closely involved with the Head of Kennel’s in-take decisions (bearing in mind that Mayhew receives dogs from some challenging sources including hoarding and poor welfare environments, and dogs with no known history)
• Rehab Assess all dogs in our care to understand them in their current state and identify their training and behaviour-modification needs
• Design and implement their training and behaviour modification plans with support from our Clinical Animal Behaviourist, ensuring continuous improvement and sustained good welfare; being agile and humble enough to change plans when things aren’t working
• Coach and support the Kennel and Animal Carers so that they can help with the delivery of training and behaviour modification plans, helping them feel included and engaged, and embrace up-skilling;
• Ensure the health & safety of the Animal Carers and Volunteers whilst caring for the dogs in our care, having the knowledge, experience, strength and confidence to personally handle more challenging dogs and situations
• Design, and help the Kennel and Animal Carers to implement, individualised wellbeing and enrichment programmes to keep each dog physically and mentally healthy whilst they are with us and have the knowledge and prior experience to make each dog’s plan bespoke to them considering a variety of drivers including play styles, energy levels, sociability, guarding behaviours, preferences, and sources of frustration.
• Liaise with foster families caring for Mayhew dogs at the direction of the Head of Kennels as required
• Undertake each dog’s Rehoming Assessment, working with the Head of Kennels and Dog Adoption Officer to ensure the right rehoming criteria are set on an individual basis. We don’t take a computer-says-no approach, we want to move mountains to find each dog a successful home.
• Be involved in rehoming our longer staying dogs, including interviewing potential adopters
• Perform practical sessions with adopters as part of the rehoming process to ensure that training and behaviour techniques Mayhew has put in place successfully transfer with the dog to their new carer and environment
• Work in accordance with Mayhew’s policies and be experienced, responsible and compassionate to be fully involved in the tough decisions which sometimes face all rescues.
• Be up to date with the relevant UK legislation on dogs and safety
• Stay up to date with the fascinating and continually-developing science of canine behaviour and well-being
• Come to work each day up-beat, positive and ready to make a real difference.

To be successful in this role, you need:

• Experience working hands-on with rescue dogs in the shelter environment
• At least 2 years’ experience within an applied canine behaviourist / rehabilitation role, working with dogs with differing behavioural challenges
• Experience of delivering dog to dog desensitisation and socialisation programs
• Proven experience of a flexible and can-do approach, successfully juggling competing priorities and calmly handling multiple or complex issues in an operational environment.

As Research Manager – Contracts and Funding, you will play a vital role in the delivery of Alzheimer’s Research UK’s growing research portfolio. You will lead on the financial and contractual aspects of our research funding processes. You will help ensure our funding is administered responsibly, efficiently, and in a way that maximises impact for people affected by dementia. This role sits within the Research Directorate, an ambitious, supportive and friendly team, and working closely with colleagues across Finance and Fundraising.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Research award financial oversight

· Maintain systems to track financial data associated with funded grants, providing information to internal teams and act as the primary contract for all questions related to financial award data

· Monitor active grants for financial compliance, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting from researchers and host institutions.

· Collaborate with the Finance team and Research Leadership team to maintain robust grant forecasting and budget control across research programmes.

· Provide advice and training on financial best practices to internal teams

· Implement, oversee and refine a grants audit approach and lead on the annual AMRC data collection

· Work with teams across the organisation to identify efficiencies and improvements to existing procedures

Research contracts and agreements

· Lead the drafting, negotiation, and finalisation of all research-related contracts, including non-disclosure agreements, funding agreements, collaboration agreements, and data agreements, working with the Partnerships manager as appropriate.

· Liaise with host institutions, collaborating organisations, and legal advisors to resolve contractual queries and ensure efficient processing.

· Working with internal and external legal counsel, ensure contracts are consistent with ARUK’s policies, funder requirements, and regulatory obligations.

Research policy and process development

· Contribute to the refinement of ARUK’s research finance and contracts policies and standard operating procedures, ensuring they remain aligned with best practice and compliant with legal and regulatory frameworks.

· Support the development and roll-out of new funding schemes by advising on financial models and contract terms.

· Represent ARUK at relevant sector forums, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of trends and developments in research funding and compliance.

Management Responsibilities

· Line management of a Research Executive, effectively delegating work to support delivery of their objectives

· Help to promote an inspiring team culture across the Research Funding team where personal development is prioritised

 

What we are looking for:

· Significant experience in research finance and/or research contract management, ideally within a medical research funder, university, NHS, or research setting.

· Sound knowledge of research funding frameworks, budgeting principles, and financial governance.

· Sound financial literacy, including relevant experience of managing budgets, financial reporting and analysing data

What’s the job about?

Our 2030 strategy commits the RSPB to becoming more relevant to the communities and supporters we work with by involving a more diverse range of people. Reporting to the Head of EDI, and as part of the EDI leadership team, you’ll hold close relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across the organisation. You’ll work collaboratively to support the transformation in behaviours and skills needed to make the RSPB a more accessible and equitable place for all.

The role does have flexibility to shape and innovate but will be focused on the continuation and delivery of two main priorities:

Role Summary

One in seven babies is born premature or sick and needing care on a neonatal unit – this isn’t what most parents expect for their baby.

Bliss is the UK’s leading national charity for babies born premature or sick, and we are looking for a Policy and Research Officer to join our enthusiastic and passionate and high-achieving team. While small, we punch above our weight having recently changed the law to secure parents of premature and sick babies' extra parental leave.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to help support our Research, Policy and Campaigns team and to create real impact along the way.  
 

• Location: Hybrid (a minimum of three of your days over two weeks will be worked in the Bliss Head Office, London SE1)
• Salary: £30,560 FTE, Permanent

Role Details

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to gain experience in a wide-ranging role which will make a real difference to babies born premature or sick, and their families. You will support the team to support clinical research, spearhead campaigns and make impactful changes to policy across the UK. 

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience: 

•At least one-year experience working in a research, campaigning or policy environment (in a paid role or in a voluntary capacity)
•Have excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
•Can build strong, influential relationships 
•An understanding of the importance of service user voice in research
•Research skills and the ability to analyse and interpret complex data and issues
•Excellent organisational, project management and prioritisation skills.

About the Role

As a Programme Coordinator, you will be responsible for student engagement, timetabling, logistics, and tutor performance, helping learners secure vital qualifications for their future.

Programme Coordination

• Manage a portfolio of up to 300 students throughout the year, ensuring sustained engagement with tutoring sessions.
• Prepare for programme launches, including timetabling of sessions and logistical planning.
• Maximise student reach by filling available tutoring spaces and maintaining an active pipeline of students.
• Develop strategies to enhance student engagement and track attendance KPIs using our CRM system (Salesforce).
• Prioritise safeguarding and student safety at all times.

 Tutor Performance and Delivery

• Oversee tutor task and session management to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.
• Conduct regular check-ins with tutors, providing guidance and feedback.

College Relationships and Programme Logistics

• Build and maintain strong relationships with college staff to ensure seamless programme delivery.
• Manage logistical preparations, including scheduling sessions and room bookings.

• Support contract renewal discussions to sustain and expand partnerships.

 Creative Problem-Solving and Innovation

Since 2000, SongBird Survival has been fighting for a better future for UK songbirds, and they are the only national UK charity solely dedicated to make a positive impact for songbirds in the face of this devastating ecological emergency. Their goals are to drive impactful conservation through scientific research, protect songbirds by raising awareness and inspiring action, and safeguarding the most at-risk songbird species in the UK. SongBird Survival do this by commissioning independent scientific research into the causes of the catastrophic decline in songbird numbers, translating research findings into actionable strategies, which aim to make a tangible difference in the protection and preservation of songbird populations. They also campaign for change, working with other NGOs and policymakers.

The Scientific Research and Impact Manager role is at the heart of SongBird Survival’s mission, ensuring that their research not only advances scientific understanding but also influences policy change, engages stakeholders, and strengthens communications and fundraising strategies. The postholder will oversee research projects, build key partnerships, and turn findings into practical conservation strategies. 

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

• Degree level education in Ecology or an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience, with comprehensive knowledge of songbird and other small bird ecology.
• Knowledge and understanding of how scientific research is commissioned and delivered, as well as the ability to assimilate and appraise relevant information.
• Track record of translating scientific findings into policy, communications and stakeholder engagement.
