The Role

The Head of Events is a crucial role, with responsibility for the overall strategic and operational leadership of BAUS’s events portfolio, which is their main source of income. Their impressive programme of events includes their flagship BAUS Annual Scientific Meeting, hosting 1200 delegates and approximately 80 exhibitors. The events portfolio also includes a calendar of smaller events such as Specialist Section Meetings, Educational Courses, and the associated sponsorship.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead the events team and be integral in the design and execution high profile events. The main focus will be on the delivery of the exciting calendar of existing events, however the team welcome new ideas and innovation to enhance, support and grow their portfolio.

The main responsibilities will include:

• Setting the vision, direction and standards for all BAUS events
• Ensuring an exceptional experience for all delegates and exhibitors
• Working to agreed budgets to maintain financial sustainability
• Aligning events with the educational vision
• Strengthening BAUS’s reputation through exceptional delivery.

The Person

We are looking for a someone with a proven track record in managing large scale conferences and events at a senior and strategic level. Ideally with experience working in a membership organisation, you should have strong strategic skills in project management, planning and budget management.

You should have the ability to build and maintain senior-level relationships with committees, sponsors, and partners and we are looking for someone who possesses the knowledge and expertise to negotiate, influence and solve problems. Most importantly, you will need to be pro-active, passionate and reliable. Please note that due to the requirements of this role, you must also be able to work flexibly to attend events when required (although the charity will pay expenses and operates a TOIL system).

We're seeking an enthusiastic Education Coordinator to help shape the future of chemistry education.
 
With a focus on Northern Ireland, you'll lead regional initiatives, tailoring them to local needs and supporting teachers through workshops and online sessions. What we are looking for:

• A degree in science, preferably in the chemical sciences, or an equivalent qualification, together with evidence of working with schools, ideally with a teaching qualification.
• An understanding of school level, further and higher education and a breadth of knowledge of the education systems in the UK and Ireland together with a deep knowledge of the local curricula.
• Experience of stakeholder relationship management and an understanding of customer requirements, including those of: school teachers; FE teachers, HE academics and support staff; careers advisors; employers; governments and its agencies, and non-government bodies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a proven ability to write effectively for different audiences and deliver clear and engaging presentations both online and in-person.

• Collaborate with Senior Managers to share the impact of the Foundation through monitoring and evaluation reports. Including creating the annual organsiation Impact Report.
• Manage the Foundation’s website, ensuring content is regularly updated, fully functioning, and aligned with key campaigns, events, and programmes.

​Supporter Engagement & Stewardship

• Manage the supporter engagement programme, delivering a rolling 12-month plan of personalised and meaningful touchpoints.
• Develop and implement strategies to encourage increased giving and recruit new regular donors.
• Maximise engagement and retention of individual supporters (particularly low- to mid-level donors) through excellent donor care, timely thanking, and compelling communications.
• Coordinate supporter stories and participant case studies to inspire giving.
• Manage our weekly e-communications, using engaging content to recruit new subscribers and convert them into donors, event participants, or programme attendees.

Supporter Care

• Act as the first point of contact for fundraisers and donors, delivering first-class stewardship and support.
• Ensure timely, warm and effective follow-up with all supporters, helping them feel inspired, valued and connected.

Events & Community Activation

• Support the delivery of fundraising and engagement opportunities at AFC Wimbledon fixtures and stadium events.
• Represent the Foundation at local events, cheque presentations, and community partner visits.

Administration & Data Management

• Maintain accurate supporter and income records in our CRM system, ensuring compliance with GDPR and data protection laws.
• Liaise with the Finance Officer to process donations, including Gift Aid claims and income reconciliation.
• Provide regular fundraising reports and insights for internal and external stakeholders.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

Qualifications & Experience

• Hold a relevant higher education or industry recognised certification or have a minimum of at least 1–2 years' experience in a fundraising, communications, supporter engagement or similar role
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with supporters, partners, or donors
• Experience planning and delivering fundraising campaigns, events, or community initiatives
• Experience using digital tools for fundraising and engagement (e.g. mass email platforms, design tools, giving platforms, CRM systems)
• Experience creating digital content (e.g. website management social media, e-newsletters, case studies)

Skills & Abilities

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and experienced support worker to join our Young People Support Team based in Hackney. You will provide client directed, person centred support to help young people achieve personal goals and aspirations for independent living, training, employment, and education. You will assist and collaborate with young people to create and carry out a support plan designed around their needs and aspirations, providing information and inspiration, practical support, innovation, and encouragement. You will have an individual caseload but will work alongside a team of Support Workers, with similar client groups, working to the same principles and goals.

The supporter relations and engagement officer supports the supporter relations and engagement manager in delivering the charity's strategy, helping to drive all aspects of supporter relations, engagement, and stewardship to strengthen relationships with stakeholders. They contribute to purposeful engagement with diverse supporter groups and ensure exemplary thanks and stewardship across all giving channels, including regular donations, fundraising events, gifts in wills, and major giving. With strong interpersonal skills and a passion for the cause, they provide expert supporter care and line-manage two fundraising assistants to ensure stakeholder communications are timely, impactful, and engaging.

The selected candidate will have significant experience of working with supporters and donors and will have experience and/ or understanding of supporter audiences across the breadth of fundraising programmes. You will have proven events planning or management experience and will have previously worked in a charity or marketing/ membership organisation. You do not need line management experience for this role.

This role requires an ability to hold a senior position within a fast-paced and dynamic team of twelve, and the selected candidate will have extensive corporate partnerships experience with demonstrable success of generating six and seven figure partnerships. As YoungMinds’ Senior Safeguarding Officer, you will play a key part in helping to promote the safety and wellbeing of everyone who comes into contact with YoungMinds – whether that’s via our Activist programme, our campaigns, individual and corporate fundraising, our Parents Helpline, social media, training and service design work or any of the charity’s other activities. It’s a role that engages with colleagues across the organisation, at all levels, and will give you the opportunity to contribute to YoungMinds’ ‘culture of care’ approach to safeguarding.

You will build excellent, trusting relationships with teams where safeguarding concerns are most frequently managed, and be available to guide them, and all other staff and volunteers, in their day-to-day practice, as well as when a safeguarding emergency arises. When necessary, you will confidently use your knowledge of safeguarding and child/adult protection thresholds to take appropriate actions, including creating and maintaining high-quality records, signposting, and referring cases to statutory bodies for investigation. You will frequently provide support out-of-hours where YoungMinds activities are happening in the evenings, weekends or overnight.

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

• Provide safeguarding advice, direction and support to staff and volunteers and take over the management of cases if necessary.
• Manage and escalate referrals to other organisations where appropriate.
• Apply YoungMinds’ procedures for information sharing internally and externally, including keeping records of concerns, incidents and referrals.
• Sign off risk assessments created by teams across the organisation for all events involving young people or where other risks are identified.
• Manage the on-call workload of the safeguarding team and Lead Safeguarding Officers, including the planning of out of hours safeguarding support. Please note: this role will require you to be on-call on a frequent basis.
• Support the Senior Safeguarding Manager in delivering organisational safeguarding priorities and contribute to safeguarding audit processes.
• Deliver safeguarding training across the organisation, including induction and refresher training, and support facilitation of bespoke safeguarding training.
• Share experiences and learning with other YoungMinds colleagues.
• Deputise for the Senior Safeguarding Manager and represent the safeguarding team at internal and external meetings and other events where necessary.
• Champion, contribute to and invest in YoungMinds’ ‘culture of care’.
