Chief Operating Officer 

Location: Hybrid with typically three days a week in the London Office (City)

Salary: Up to £90,000

As Chief Operating Officer, you’ll deputise for the CEO, playing a key role in ensuring organisational effectiveness alongside other members of the senior team. You will lead a small team of colleagues across the support functions of Finance, HR, Governance, IT, and Risk Management and will work on strategic projects across the organisation.

SCM is looking for a recent graduate to spend a year working with us to help us to continue to build on the work of our successful Faith in Action project. 

Run in partnership with Project Bonhoeffer, a small charitable trust, the project began in 2012 with a vision that Christian students in Britain would have a greater awareness and understanding of Bonhoeffer’s radical approach to faith and discipleship, and its implications for Christian living in the modern world. 

The project has helped to run over a dozen campaigns from Food Poverty to Peace, and had an immeasurable impact on thousands of students through blogs, resources, and relationships. All of this is bringing to light many ‘Bonhoeffers’ of today negotiating the implications on Christian living in the world.

In 2021 we developed the Faith in Action project as a graduate scheme by employing two graduates to work on the project; one to lead on theology bringing a depth of learning and theological refection, and the other to be a campaigns lead, taking us always back out into the world to make a difference.

The project has been very successful, and now we are looking to grow it for further. We are looking for a passionate graduate to join the project for the 2025-26 academic year.

In this role, you will be a theologian to make other theologians, and will provide the framework for students to be able to reflect theologically on their life and modern Christian Living. You will be responsible for growing the breadth of SCM’s Faith in Action resources, and discovering new ways of connecting with the current membership via the trends of social media or engaging in face-to-face reflections. An activist to make other activists, you will coordinate social action for SCM, engaging the membership in social justice projects that maximise our impact in society and the world.

You will work to build relationships between SCM communities and members to equip students with the skills they need to become faith-filled agents of social and political change and lead them in theological reflection to discern their involvement in local and national campaigns. You will also work to develop relationships with other Christian social justice and campaigning organisations to create opportunities for students to put their faith into action. In all of this, you will be supported by our small but perfectly-formed team, who will share your values and fully understand your aims in this project.

The role will require some travel within Britain, as well as semi-regular visits to the office in Birmingham, which may also include an overnight stay. All reasonable expenses for travel and accommodation will be reimbursed. Some evening and weekend work may be required for which time off in lieu will be given.

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Service Coordinator to oversee one of our Ofsted supported accommodation services in Hillingdon.

As a Service Coordinator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of accommodation provisions, ensuring that people we work alongside receive person-centred, trauma-informed support in a safe and welcoming environment.

The Curriculum Lead will play a leading role in developing and delivering Frontline’s Approach Social Work programme, a fast-track master’s in social work and our internal Consultant Social Worker programme. ​

​This role involves leading the design and implementation of curriculum content, as well as contributing to teaching, learning, and assessment—both academic and practice-based.​

You will support the delivery of high-quality teaching materials across various formats, including online and in-person sessions. A key part of the role is developing and supporting Practice Tutors and Consultant Social Workers. The Corporate Partnerships team has an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Partnerships Officer to support with the delivery of a range of key corporate partnerships within the Partnership Management team and directly manage allocated smaller relationships and projects to drive income and maximise the value to Macmillan.

This is a rare opportunity to work with several recognised household brands and exciting campaigns such as Coffee Morning and Mighty Hikes.  You’ll be immersed into the brands and partners we work with every day and receive training and guidance on Corporate Partnerships, where you will meet lots of great people, both internally and externally.

The Corporate Partnerships team generates over £15m+ per year and those vital funds from corporates help people living with cancer every day.  By working with some of our biggest partners you will see the direct impact of our income, which goes to fund nurses, our support line, and bespoke projects in communities to support people living with cancer.

Our client, a prestigious London-based higher education institution, is seeking a full-time Student Wellbeing & Disability Advisor to join their Student Experience team. This is a temporary role, running for 3-months in the first instance, based on site in Central London, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a diverse and inclusive academic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-to-one and group support to students on a range of wellbeing and disability-related issues.
• Conduct person-centred assessments and develop tailored Student Support Agreements.
• Liaise with academic and support staff to ensure a holistic approach to student care.
• Coordinate wellbeing events and contribute to service development initiatives.
• Maintain accurate, GDPR-compliant records and monitor student engagement.
• Support students through complex situations, including misconduct cases and return from study interruptions.

To be considered for this role, you should have:

• Previous experience in a student support or advisory role within higher education.
• Strong understanding of wellbeing and disability support frameworks and legislation.

Location, contract and salary

This is a full-time (34.5 hours per week), permanent role. SPANA works on a hybrid basis, with regular attendance (approximately 1-2 times per month, or more if preferred) in our London office. Candidates must be based in the UK and have the current right to work in the UK. 

The salary for this role is £34k-£37k per annum, subject to skills and experience.

· With the support of the Senior Philanthropy Manager, develop existing high value relationships giving five figure gifts with individuals through our giving circles, delivering an excellent customer experience at all times

· With the support of the Senior Philanthropy Manager, assist in the management of strategic ultra-high net worth partnerships, such as the Steve Morgan Foundation

· Develop and grow a small portfolio of new philanthropic mid-level support through effective prospecting and donor management
