We are recruiting a Fundraising and Engagement Assistant apprentice to provide outstanding data management, supporter care and assist the Challenge Events Fundraising Officer and wider fundraising team to support our income generation.
What you will do:
Support the Fundraising team to uphold a high level of supporter care with a view to retention and increased engagement.
Efficiently and accurately process and reconcile all incoming donation information, received daily, weekly and monthly from multiple digital sources, onto our database and acknowledge these within agreed timescales.
Analyse all online income including but not exclusively from Just Giving, Enthuse, PayPal Giving Fund and Facebook along with all other income.
Ensure that all third party received income is recorded on Raisers Edge and produce accurate reports for internal stakeholders.
Be the first point of contact for challenge event supporters and manage and respond to queries.
Record and update non-financial supporter information such as, communication preferences, research information and other personal information in line with our Data Protection policy.
Distribute all parcels in a timely manner, making sure everything is recorded accurately.
To be successful in this role you will have:
English and Maths GCSE or equivalent grade C or above
Previous experience providing dedicated administration support.
Experience of handling sensitive information appropriately
Experience of working effectively within a team environment and assisting colleagues
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write reports.
Ability to handle calls and enquiries from stakeholders including people who may be vulnerable and /or bereaved sensitively and appropriately.

The apprenticeship programme is due to start in September 2024, provided by the Juice Academy - an industry-led apprenticeship provider. They are partnered with Jane Montague Consultancy to deliver the 13-15 month Fundraiser Level 3 programme. Apprentices work on the job within a charity whilst receiving 20% off the job training from current industry experts. The training sessions are a hybrid of face-to-face learning (two optional in-person days) in Manchester, and virtual half-day classrooms via Zoom. Apprentices also receive the on-the-job training in the workplace. The final three months of the course will be the ‘assessment period’ during which apprentices go through an End Point Assessment and are graded a pass, merit or distinction. Apprentices currently have a 94% distinction rate. The Juice Academy are part of the Apprentify Group, and development coaches support apprentices throughout the programme.

Responsibilites:
Fundraising – General
- To deliver a continuous fundraising operation to meet the short, medium and long-term revenue needs of the charity as determined by the CEO and Board of Trustees
- Establish and maintain positive relationships across the organisation and an in-depth understanding of the charity’s needs and priorities to ensure your fundraising activity contributes positively
- Development and maintenance of key resources to support our fundraising activity, including case for support, programme schedule and budgets

Relationship Management

- Assist in the creation, planning, setting up and working at fundraising and community awareness events
- Face to face community work in the form of hosting coffee mornings and fundraising/engagement events

MARCOMMS/Fundraising – General

The Role
As our Communications Officer, you will be responsible for planning and delivering a wide range of communications that contribute to increased brand awareness of the charity, demonstrate the charity’s expertise and impact, educate the public about cancer prevention, signs, symptoms and screening and support the generation of income for the charity.

We are seeking a Research Assistant to support the research activities of the Patient Evidence Department of Myeloma Patients Europe (MPE).

Main Duties and responsibilities
Perform the following duties in conjunction with and under the guidance of the Head of Patient Research:
- Plan and conduct assigned research individually or jointly in accordance with project deliverables and department strategy
- Document research output including analysis and interpretation of data, maintaining records and databases, drafting progress reports and publications
- Maintain accurate records of patient data, safeguarding the confidentiality of patients and patient data, as necessary
- Writing for internal / external audiences (including academic journals, lay summaries, and, progress reports)
- Contribute to the dissemination of work including presentations at international and national conferences, internal and external meetings and workshops
- Contribute to the development of proposals to secure funding to support future research

About you:

About MPE
Myeloma Patients Europe (MPE) is a pan-European organisation representing 52 myeloma and amyloidosis patient groups from over 33 European countries. It is registered as an international non-profit organisation under Belgian Law. A Board mainly composed of patients and caregivers is elected by the membership to oversee the strategy and governance of the organisation. A team of 13 staff members runs remotely the day-to-day operations, programmes and services within 4 divisions: Access and Policy, Medical Education and Scientific Engagement, Patient Evidence and Member and Patient Community Programmes.
MPE is dedicated to improving the treatment, care and quality of life of patients with myeloma and AL Amyloidosis. To this end, the main goals of the organisation are:

About the Patient Evidence department
The MPE Patient Evidence department was established in 2020 to generate evidence important to patients with myeloma and their families and is led by Dr Eilidh Duncan. Our goal is to understand unmet needs in the patient population and design patient-focussed research questions which will support new understandings and knowledge. MPE partners with academia, other patient organisations, industry and regulatory bodies where possible to understand more about what gaps exist within the myeloma landscape and how to best generate evidence on these. We work alongside MPE’s policy and access team to anticipate what questions need to be asked and what the data needs are for upcoming medicines approval processes.

About Black Thrive
Black Thrive Global (BTG) evolved from the work of the Black Thrive Lambeth (BTL) Partnership, which was established in 2016. We exist to address the inequalities that negatively impact the mental health and wellbeing of Black people so that the thriving of Black communities is the norm.
Our guiding principle is that Black communities should be at the forefront of reimagining, redefining, and co-creating a society where systemic racism and other oppressive systems have been dismantled so that they have fulfilling lives. We have two priorities – building a Black Thrive Research Institute and embedding race equity in systems change.
We have grown rapidly since 2021 and so still have a start-up culture and often deal with competing priorities at a fast pace.
The aim of Black Queer & Thriving is to explore the health and wellbeing needs of Black LGBTQ+ people in Lambeth and Southwark, develop community research that details these needs with the Working Group and use the outcome to influence local policy and infrastructure.
The purpose of this role is to support the Black Queer & Thriving workstream with the main priorities being:

Providing administrative support to the development of the Black LGBTQ+ Working Group, including organising meetings and minute taking;

Supporting relationship management with Lambeth and Southwark’s Black LGBTQ+ community; and

Leading on a community research project exploring the health and wellbeing experiences of Black LGBTQ+ people in Lambeth and Southwark.
The list below is not an exhaustive list of duties, due to the dynamic nature of the work occurring at Black Thrive we are looking for someone who is willing to adapt to our responsive workstreams, and who can be agile in the performance of different tasks.
Duties and responsibilities
1. Support the project’s engagement and involvement with Lambeth and Southwark’s Black LGBTQ+ communities, particularly young people.
2. Lead on designing and maintaining databases to support the network mapping of stakeholders and ensure relationship management of key stakeholders.

4. Keep abreast of various projects, initiatives and coalitions locally, regionally and nationally, as well as emerging legislation policy and practice related to the workstream.
5. Support the Programme & Partnership Manager with project management and reporting arrangements relating to the achievement of objectives and milestones.
6. Organise meeting and events and manage the associated administration such as room bookings, preparing and distribution of agendas, minute taking and action tracking.
7. Support the development of the Black LGBTQ+ Working Group, including recruitment, organising meetings and minutes.
8. Produce and deliver presentations, reports and other materials relevant to the role.
9. Lead on producing content for internal and external blog posts and digital content across our communication channels to ensure effective communication of Black Thrive’s employment work to relevant audiences.
10. Put in place appropriate project and financial management arrangements to ensure the achievement of objectives and milestones relating to the Communities workstream.
11. Ensure compliance with legislation and policies relevant to the job role, including equality, safeguarding, health and safety, data protection and financial probity.
