We are recruiting for an Accounts Examiner. At Stewardship, our mission is to activate joyful generosity — enabling Christians to support the causes they love, exactly when they need to. Our givers manage most of their finances through apps, and we believe their generosity should be just as intuitive. Our iOS Giving app has already seen strong engagement, and we are currently in the process of re-platforming it into React Native to support a more scalable and maintainable future.

We’re looking for an experienced Lead React Native Developer to take over from this re-platforming work and carry it forward — refining and extending the app, while also setting the direction for how we build future mobile apps.   • Extensive technical knowledge of accounting principles and best practice, with reference to specific UK charity accounting rules and regulations.
  • Substantial experience of management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
  • Experience of involvement in financial year-end and annual statutory audit.

• Salary: £26,000 - £30,000 per annum, pro rata.
• Holiday: 25 days and bank holidays (pro-rata) + days between Christmas & New Year. Additionally, we are trialling an additional week of leave during August 2024 and 2025, which may be offered in 2026 if successful.

The School of Life Course & Population Sciences is one of five Schools that make up the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King’s College London. The School unites experts across five departments: Women and Children’s Health, Nutritional Sciences, Population Health, Ophthalmology and Twins and Genetic Epidemiology, overall covering the complexities of life course health and disease from individual cells molecular genetics to whole population level. Our research links the causes of common health problems to life’s landmark stages, treating life, disease and healthcare as a continuum. We are interdisciplinary by nature and hugely successful. 91 per cent of our research submitted to the Subjects Allied to Medicine (Pharmacy, Nutritional Sciences and Women's Health cluster) for REF was rated as world-leading or internationally excellent. We use this expertise to teach the next generation of health professionals and research scientists. Based across King’s Guy’s, St Thomas’, Waterloo and Denmark Hill campuses, our academic programme of research, teaching and clinical practice is embedded across all SLCPS departments.

About the role

We are looking for an ambitious Programme Manager with extensive experience of new business development within the non-profit sector, strong knowledge of project management tools, a belief in collaborative working, and a positive and big-picture outlook. They will play a key role in the alignment and delivery of a portfolio of strategic projects relating to our cross-cutting programme of work to strengthen postgraduate education of health workers in our partner countries.

Working in partnership with Ministries of Health, healthcare institutions, leading medical and nursing schools and other stakeholders, the postholder will support the design and management of programmes, develop funding proposals in line with our strategy and the strategic objectives of our partners, and align our work on postgraduate education of health workers across all five countries. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape an innovative and impactful health systems strengthening programme, rooted in strong local partnerships. The postholder will report to the Health Systems Strengthening Lead.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: 

Essential criteria

1. Degree in relevant subject (Global Health, International Development or aligned subject) and experience of working in a low- and middle-income country setting
2. Extensive experience in managing multiple projects (including large and complex grants/contracts) throughout the full project cycle
3. Financial management and budgeting experience for complex multi-year, multi-partner projects
4. Experience of developing and reporting on MEL strategies for large and complex programmes, including developing indicators, theories of change, learning processes and undertaking analysis and evaluation of programmes
5. Experience of coordinating and managing the development of successful funding proposals
6. Experience of leading on the coordination of large programmes of work bringing multiple stakeholders, priorities, and workplans into alignment
7. Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, actively addressing areas of potential bias
8. Willingness to travel to all of our partner countries (Somaliland, the Gambia, Sierra Leone, Zambia and DRC)

Desirable criteria

1. Experience working collaboratively with partner organisations in low resource settings
2. Masters degree in global health or international development or other subject relevant to the post

The Membership Team are responsible for circa £10m income in membership donations, including Gift Aid. Friends and Patrons also make up 30% of ticket income, 55% other donations and 88% legacies, emphasising the importance of community building, good processes and customer service.

We are now seeking to recruit a Membership Coordinator on a contract basis to support at a busy time of growth. The role holder will work within the Membership Team, responsible for the philanthropic income from Friends and Patrons, and undertake the efficient administration of the membership programme whilst providing first-class customer service to keep our Friends and Patrons engaged and valued.

This role will suit a candidate who has strong experience in a customer-facing environment (ideally in a membership organisation and/or box office) and is able to use diplomacy in dealing with a variety of different customer groups. You will be able to illustrate a consistently high level of customer care and responsiveness as well as strong organisational and administrative skills. You will also be able to demonstrate:

• Experience in administration, ideally within a customer-facing organisation (arts, performing arts or a fundraising charity)
• Experience of databases and MS Office (Access, Word and Excel)
• Experience of administering financial processes
• The ability to gain knowledge of products and services in a relatively short period of time
• The ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritise and multi-task
• Excellent face-to-face, written and telephone communication skills, including the ability to deal with members at all levels and stakeholders in a professional manner.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape a new senior role within our organisation. The Interim Head of Research and Campaigns will lead our Research function and advocacy efforts, ensuring that evidence-based insights drive our campaigns, policy work, and public engagement.

Recently kicking off our new ‘Creating Positive Change Together’ strategy, coproduced by over 130 staff, volunteers, clients and partners, Groundswell has ambitious plans around influencing more change and amplifying voices to promote healthier lives and a better future for anyone who has experienced homelessness. This role directly aligns with these strategic plans, to refine and use innovative participatory research centring lived experience, share and amplify insight from people with experience of homelessness, and increase our campaigning activities to change systems and break down the barriers that stand in people’s way to a healthier life and more hopeful future.

This role has been created on an interim basis to assess its impact and effectiveness, with a key focus on reviewing the priorities, progression and support of our Research Team and making recommendations for the future regarding this new role. The role will sit within the wider Participation, Progression and Creating Change team. 

We anticipate that some form of Head of Research & Campaigning role will continue beyond this 12-month period, and this interim position will very much shape and inform that longer term role.
